Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of discovery learning on cell material on students' concept comprehension of class XI. In this study, the quantitative research method used quasi-experiments and a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The instruments used in the research consisted of learning materials (lesson plan, students’ worksheet and textbooks) and data collection instruments in the form of reasoned multiple choice written tests of 20 pretest-posttest questions. The research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Batu Bara. The population in this study were all 3 classes of XI IPA, and the sample used was 2 classes totaling 60 students taken using cluster random sampling technique. Class XI IPA 1 as an experimental class using the discovery learning model, while class XI IPA 2 as a control class using conventional learning methods. Data analysis techniques in this study were analyzed using ANCOVA. The results showed that there was an influence of the discovery learning model on cell material on students' concept comprehension. Keywords: conceptual understanding, discovery learning model, biology lesson. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1900-1915

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive worksheet, describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive worksheet by using liveworksheets to improve junior high school students' science process skills in the material of additives and addictive substances . The research method uses the 4-D development model. The subjects of this study were 66 students consisting of 32 students in class VIII A and 34 students in class VIII B at Gajah Mada Junior High School. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and tests. Questionnaires are used to obtain validation data, test student responses and teacher responses while tests are used to measure effectiveness by collecting pre-test and post-test data. The results of this research and development indicate that the results of the validation of material and media experts obtained a percentage of 88% in the valid category. Practical interactive worksheets are used with a percentage of values with very practical criteria. This interactive worksheet is also effective for improving students' science process skill in the experimental class with an average N-Gain of 0.72 with a high classification and the effect size value is 0.94 with the big category. Abstract

This study aims to reveal the impact of the 6E Instructional 3D geometry model (6E I3DGM) design in improving students' 3D geometric thinking skills. The approach in this study uses a mixed approach. The reason for choosing this approach is that researchers want to get a more comprehensive understanding of this research problem. In this study, the participants involved in this study were (1) junior high school mathematics teachers; (2) grade VIII junior high school students in one of the public junior high schools in Indramayu Regency. In addition, there are three methods of collecting data in this study, namely observation, documentation, tests, which were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Qualitative data analysis using Miles and Huberman (2014) modification consists of data collection, data reduction (data reduction), data display (data display), and conclusion drawing (verification). The statistical test used in this study used an independent t-test. The results of this study conclude that the 6E I3DGM design can improve students' 3D geometric thinking skills. This is because students (1) can activate students' prior knowledge; (2) can relate previous knowledge with prior knowledge; (3) can explore 3D geometry problems; (4) can facilitate the process of constructing new concepts of 3D geometry into students' memory; (5) able to elaborate 3D geometry knowledge acquired in other contexts; (6) can evaluate the acquired knowledge in order that the 3D geometry knowledge possessed by students is stored in cognitive structures for a long period of time. Keywords: 6E instructional 3D geometry model, 3D geometry thinking skills, junior high school students DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i1.pp45-56

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not there is an influence of the learning model using the problem based instruction (PBI) learning model on student learning outcomes on the respiratory system material for class XI at the Dar al-Ma'arif Islamic Boarding School. This research method uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type of research. The population in this study were students of class XI Islamic boarding school Dar al-Ma'arif. The samples used in this study were students of class XI A (experimental class) and class XI B (control class). The samples used in this study were 2 classes totaling 40 students. Sampling in this study was conducted using a random sampling technique. Sampling in this study was carried out using a random sampling technique. The results of the study were the results of student learning outcomes using the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model in the control class, the highest score was obtained at 72 while the lowest score from the control class was 36 with the average score. an average of 56.2 and while the experimental class the highest score was obtained at 96 while the lowest value from the experimental class was 40 with an average score of 66.4. The experimental class has a higher score because the use of the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning method is easier to understand and easy for students to understand. Keywords: problem based instruction, learning outcomes, respiratory system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i2.pp448-458

Abstract

Blended learning is a learning approach that combines online educational materials with traditional classroom-based methods. The traditional learning model requires the physical presence of lecturers and students, especially those trying to take further education with the employee class program, because they have to manage their time between study, work and even family. This study evaluates how the effect of using the blended learning model on the student's motivation to learn in the employee class. The study uses quantitative method with quasi experimental design. The design which utilizes one-group pretest-posttest with control group design, namely a research design that contains a pretest, before blended learning is carried out, and posttest after blended learning is carried out. The results of the study show that there is significant effectiveness of using the blended learning model compared to traditional towards the motivation of the employee class students. Keywords: blended learning, learning motivation, employee class students. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v22i2.pp226-234

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are an important factor in learning whose implementation is still being questioned in various schools in Indonesia. This quantitative study aims to determine the effect of the Interactive Socio-Scientific Issue model on the creative thinking ability of students in class X SMA/MA. This study involved 60 students who were positioned as research subjects. Creative thinking skills data were collected using the essay test integrated creative thinking skills rubric. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of mean and analytic statistics in the form of the ANCOVA test. The results of this study inform that the profile of creative thinking skills of class X high school students has increased which can be seen from the results of pre-test and post-test in the experimental class and control class. Furthermore, indicators in creative thinking skills that developed in this study were indicators of flexible thinking in the experimental class and the highest improvement in the original thinking aspect which was seen based on the results of the post-test that had been carried out. Following up on the findings of this study, empowering creative thinking skills using the Interactive Socio Scientific Issue model is appropriate for use in subjects, especially Biology Keywords: creative thinking, environmental change, socio-scientific issue. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp995-1005

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' generic science skills and creative thinking abilities in chemistry subjects at the senior high school level. Using a quasi-experimental quantitative research method, the sample consisted of 60 students from two classes, selected through stratified random sampling. The instruments used included tests for generic science skills and creative thinking and a questionnaire to assess students' responses to the PBL model. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses revealed that students in both the Chemistry Education and Chemistry study programs demonstrated significant improvements in generic science skills and creative thinking abilities when exposed to the PBL model. The regression analysis showed a positive and significant correlation, with PBL explaining 55% of the variance in generic science skills and 52% in creative thinking abilities. These findings suggest that PBL effectively enhances critical skills in science education and encourages active learning, problem-solving, and creative thinking among students. Thus, PBL can be considered a valuable pedagogical tool in modern science education.         Keywords: active learning, chemistry education, creative thinking, generic science skills, and problem-based learning. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i3.pp1022-1036
