Abstract

Science education at the elementary school level (SD) has a strategic role in instilling scientific literacy and environmental awareness from an early age. Amid the increasing global issues related to climate change, it is important for students to understand science not only as a collection of concepts, but also as a tool for critical thinking about natural and social phenomena that have an impact on the sustainability of life. This literature study aims to examine the contribution of Natural Science (IPA) learning in building scientific literacy and increasing awareness of climate change issues in elementary school students as part of the implementation of Green Education. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various sources of scientific journals, articles, and relevant publications in the last five years (2019–2024). The results of the study show that scientific literacy developed through environmental-based science learning can improve students' understanding of the concept of climate change, encourage environmental awareness, and shape environmentally friendly behavior. The integration of current issues such as global warming, pollution, and nature conservation in science learning has also proven effective in building students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions. Thus, scientific literacy is an important foundation in forming a young generation who are aware of the importance of environmental sustainability and play an active role in nature conservation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using visual media in the form of series of images on the writing skills of advanced texts in junior high school students. This experimental study involved two groups, namely the experimental group that used visual media and the control group that did not use visual media. The data collected consisted of pretest and posttest scores taken from both groups to measure the improvement in writing skills after being given treatment. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a more significant increase in scores compared to the control group. The average increase in scores in the experimental group was 24.5 points, while in the control group it was only 7.5 points. The normality test conducted using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that the data of both groups were normally distributed, while the homogeneity test using the Levene test showed that the variances of both groups were homogeneous. Hypothesis testing conducted using the t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the posttest, with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Based on these results, it can be concluded that visual media in the form of series of images is effective in improving the writing skills of advanced texts in junior high school students. This research contributes to the development of Indonesian language learning strategies, especially in optimizing the use of visual media as a more interesting and effective learning tool.

Abstract

The transition from conventional classrooms to digital-based learning has become an inevitable global phenomenon, especially in response to technological advancements and the evolving needs of 21st-century learners. This literature review aims to explore the paradigm shift in education from traditional face-to-face models to digital systems, highlighting the driving and inhibiting factors of this process. The analysis draws from recent sources discussing innovations in digital learning, infrastructure readiness, changes in the educator’s role, and new skills required by students. The findings indicate that digital-based learning offers flexibility, accessibility, and personalization, while also presenting challenges such as the digital divide, limited social interaction, and the need for digital competence training for teachers and students. The implications suggest the necessity for a well-planned transition strategy, adequate resource provision, and adaptive curriculum development that integrates technology. With the right approach, digital learning holds the potential to enhance education quality and expand access across diverse communities. This study is expected to serve as a reference for education practitioners, policymakers, and researchers in understanding the dynamics of this transformation and in designing more innovative and inclusive learning models.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using storyboards as visual media on the ability to write short story texts in SMPN 4 Pancarijang students. Storyboards are used to help students organize ideas systematically before they are poured into writing. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 60 students of grade VIII who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The instrument used was a short story text writing test. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and t-test tests. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group after treatment. The experimental group that used storyboards experienced a higher average writing score increase than the control group. These findings indicate that the use of storyboards is effective in improving students' ability to write short story texts. Storyboards help students develop storylines, organize characters, settings, and conflicts in a more structured manner. Based on these results, the use of visual media such as storyboards is highly recommended to be integrated into the writing learning process at the junior high school level. The implications of this study contribute to the innovation of Indonesian language learning media, especially in creative writing skills. Further research can explore the use of similar media for various other types of texts.

Abstract

Social studies (IPS) education in elementary schools plays a crucial role in developing students' social intelligence. Social intelligence refers to the ability to interact effectively within social contexts, demonstrate empathy, and solve problems in societal settings. This article aims to examine how social studies education can contribute to the development of social intelligence among elementary school students. Through a literature review, this study gathers findings from previous research showing that social studies education not only provides knowledge in areas like geography, history, economics, and society, but also teaches social values, ethics, and communication skills essential for students' lives. Interactive and context-based learning approaches enhance students' abilities to understand various social issues and resolve them. The findings suggest that active learning methods such as group discussions, case studies, and role-playing can strengthen students' social intelligence, allowing them to apply social skills in everyday life. This research also highlights the importance of teachers in facilitating learning that emphasizes collaboration, empathy, and positive attitudes toward social diversity.

Abstract

This study is a literature study that aims to analyze how deep learning curriculum can be used to develop the potential of multiple intelligences in elementary school students. Multiple intelligences or multiple intelligences proposed by Howard Gardner include eight types of intelligence, namely linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. In the context of elementary education, it is important for teachers to not only focus on academic intelligence, but also accommodate the various forms of intelligence possessed by students. The deep learning curriculum focuses on in-depth, meaningful, and learner-centered learning. This approach supports the development of multiple intelligences because it provides space for students to actively explore their interests, talents, and learning styles. This study analyzed 20 national and international journals published in the last five years that are relevant to the topic. The results of the study show that the implementation of the deep learning curriculum through contextual, project-based, and collaborative learning can facilitate the development of various intelligences in elementary school students. This curriculum also requires the role of teachers as facilitators who are able to design different learning strategies according to student characteristics. This study recommends the need for teacher training and the preparation of deep learning-based teaching tools that are adaptive to the diversity of children's intelligence.
