Abstract

Ecoliteracy or ecological intelligence is an important competency that needs to be developed from an early age in order to form a generation that cares and is responsible for the environment. Early Childhood Education (PAUD) has a strategic role in instilling ecological values through a learning approach that is in accordance with the characteristics of children, namely active, concrete, and explorative. The nature-based learning model is an approach that is considered effective because it involves children directly with the natural environment through the experience of playing, observing, and exploring nature. This literature study aims to examine the effectiveness of the nature-based learning model in improving early childhood ecoliteracy. This study uses a qualitative approach through a literature review of various relevant national and international journals in the last five years. The results of the study show that the nature-based learning model is able to improve children's understanding of environmental concepts, foster a love of nature, improve observation and exploration skills, and form environmentally friendly behavior from an early age. Nature-based learning also encourages collaboration between educators, families, and communities in supporting ecologically sustainable child growth and development. The implications of this study indicate that the integration of the nature approach in the PAUD curriculum needs to be designed systematically in order to be able to strengthen children's ecoliteracy holistically

Literary appreciation plays a strategic role in developing language skills and shaping the character of elementary school children. Through reading, listening, and responding to literary works such as folk tales, fables, children's poems, and fairy tales, students not only improve their literacy skills, but also absorb the moral and social values contained in the works. This study aims to analyze various literatures that discuss the relationship between literary appreciation, strengthening language skills, and character building in elementary school children. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various journals, books, and scientific articles in the last five years. The results of the study show that literary appreciation activities have proven effective in improving vocabulary, listening skills, writing narratives, and speaking expressively. In addition, story elements that are full of moral messages also encourage the development of positive characters such as empathy, honesty, responsibility, and tolerance. Thus, literary learning that is integrated thematically and contextually in the curriculum can be an effective means of developing language skills while strengthening the character education of elementary school students. This study recommends a pedagogical approach that is fun, participatory, and reflective in children's literature appreciation activities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers in fostering literary appreciation through poetry reading activities in the lower grades of Kesaud State Elementary School (SDN), Serang City. Literature, especially poetry, has great potential in shaping sensitivity, enriching vocabulary, and fostering children's imagination and empathy. However, literature learning at the elementary level is often still textual and less interesting for students. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with grade I and II teachers, and documentation of the learning process. The results of the study show that teachers act as facilitators, motivators, and models in expressing poetry expressively and enjoyably. Teachers who use communicative poetry reading methods, such as rhythmic reading, body movements, and facial expressions, have been shown to be able to attract students' attention and increase their interest in literature. In addition, student involvement in rereading favorite poems is also an effective strategy in fostering a love for literary works. This study recommends the importance of teacher training in creative poetry reading techniques and the provision of relevant and interesting children's literature teaching materials. Thus, literary appreciation among elementary school students can be instilled early on through a fun and meaningful approach

Abstract

The increasingly sharp socio-political polarization in recent years has posed serious challenges to the sustainability of democracy in various countries, including Indonesia. This polarization not only divides society, but also erodes public trust in democratic institutions. In the midst of these conditions, the existence and role of civil society become crucial as a balancing force that is able to mediate differences and strengthen the democratic order. This study aims to analyze how civil society resilience is formed and functions in the context of socio-political polarization through the perspective of deliberative democracy. With a literature study approach, this article examines a number of previous studies that discuss the dynamics of civil society, the concept of social resilience, and the practice of democratic deliberation. The results of the study show that civil society that has high resilience tends to be supported by reflective capacity, cross-identity collaborative networks, and the ability to build inclusive deliberative spaces. This resilience allows civil society organizations to continue to play an active role in voicing public interests, encouraging policy transparency, and building solidarity amidst social fragmentation. Thus, deliberative democracy becomes a relevant framework for understanding and strengthening the function of civil society in overcoming socio-political polarization. This study concludes that strengthening deliberative capacity in civil society is key to maintaining social cohesion and strengthening participatory democracy.

Abstract

Early childhood cognitive development is an important foundation in forming thinking skills, problem solving, and lifelong learning. The holistic learning model is seen as an approach that is able to integrate various aspects of child development, including cognitive, emotional, social, and physical simultaneously. This article is a literature study that aims to analyze the integration of holistic learning models in order to optimize the cognitive development of early childhood. By reviewing various current scientific sources, it was found that the holistic model encourages children to learn through direct experience, active play, and positive emotional involvement. This model places children as active subjects in the learning process, thus providing space for the emergence of initiative, exploration, and reflection. This study concludes that the implementation of holistic learning, such as the Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and HighScope approaches, has been proven to be able to strengthen children's critical thinking processes, memory abilities, and logic skills. This study recommends the need for ongoing training for PAUD educators to be able to integrate holistic principles in the planning and implementation of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of using visual infographic media on students’ expository writing skills in Grade VIII at SMP Muhammadiyah Rappang. The background of this research is the low ability of students to compose coherent, logical, and structurally appropriate expository texts. Infographics are considered capable of assisting students in understanding the flow of expository thinking through attractive and structured visual presentations. The method employed was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. The research sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class, which utilized infographic media, and the control class, which received conventional instruction. The research instrument was an expository writing test, which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing (t-test). The results indicated a statistically significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and control groups. The mean posttest score of the experimental group was notably higher than that of the control group, suggesting that the use of infographic media had a positive impact on improving students’ expository writing skills. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that visual infographic media is an effective alternative in writing instruction, particularly in teaching expository texts. This study recommends that Indonesian language teachers incorporate infographics as an instructional tool to support the development of students’ literacy skills, especially in the context of 21st-century education demands.

Abstract

Educator professionalism is the main foundation in improving the quality of education at every level, from Early Childhood Education (PAUD) to senior high school. This literature study aims to examine various empirical and conceptual studies related to the strategic role of educator professionalism in forming a quality education system. In this context, professionalism includes pedagogical, personality, social, and professional competencies that teachers must have in accordance with national regulations. Through an analysis of various scientific journals, textbooks, and policy documents from 2018–2024, this study identified five important findings: (1) the relationship between improving teacher competency and student learning outcomes, (2) the influence of continuous training on learning innovation, (3) the importance of ethics and integrity in building public trust in education, (4) the role of teacher leadership in creating a conducive learning climate, and (5) the gap in professionalism between teachers in various regions. This study concludes that the success of education reform cannot be separated from improving the quality of educators holistically. Policies are needed that support strengthening teacher capacity, performance-based incentives, and a fair and accountable professional evaluation system
