Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at MI Al-Awwal Palembang, with a particular focus on how the curriculum reform addresses the actual learning needs of students in the context of Islamic education. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, teacher and student interviews, and analysis of instructional documents. The findings reveal that the curriculum implementation has generally been effective, supported by well-developed instructional tools, diverse teaching methods, and conducive classroom environments. Nonetheless, several challenges persist, including the limited integration of digital learning media, inconsistent student engagement, and a lack of authentic assessment that reflects the spiritual and moral dimensions of Islamic education. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on curriculum reform in Islamic elementary education and offers practical recommendations for aligning the Merdeka Curriculum more effectively with the religious and academic learning needs of students. Penelitian ini menganalisis implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di MI Al-Awwal Palembang, dengan fokus pada bagaimana reformasi kurikulum tersebut menjawab kebutuhan belajar peserta didik dalam konteks pendidikan Islam. Pendekatan studi kasus kualitatif digunakan dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi kelas, wawancara dengan guru dan siswa, serta analisis dokumen pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi kurikulum secara umum telah berjalan efektif, ditunjang oleh perangkat ajar yang terstruktur, metode pengajaran yang bervariasi, dan suasana kelas yang mendukung pembelajaran. Namun, masih terdapat tantangan, antara lain keterbatasan pemanfaatan media pembelajaran digital, keterlibatan siswa yang belum konsisten, serta kurang optimalnya penerapan penilaian autentik yang mencerminkan dimensi spiritual dan moral dalam pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap diskursus reformasi kurikulum pada pendidikan dasar Islam serta menawarkan rekomendasi praktis untuk menyelaraskan Kurikulum Merdeka dengan kebutuhan belajar religius dan akademik peserta didik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi pembelajaran baca Al-Qur’an dengan metode Ummi pada siswa SD Lukman Hakim Kabupaten Jember. Sekolah ini merupakan lembaga pendidikan dasar yang menekankan pembelajaran baca-tulis Al-Qur’an, hafalan, serta dasar-dasar ajaran Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Implementasi metode Ummi berlangsung secara bertahap mulai dari Pra-Ummi hingga Pasca-Ummi, dan menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam membaca Al-Qur’an secara tartil. (2) Metode Ummi terbukti efektif dalam memfasilitasi pembelajaran yang terstruktur dan menumbuhkan motivasi internal siswa untuk mengamalkan ajaran Islam. (3) Anak-anak usia 11–13 tahun menunjukkan perkembangan signifikan dalam kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an seiring dengan pendekatan yang digunakan. Secara keseluruhan, penggunaan metode Ummi di SD Lukman Hakim berkontribusi positif terhadap mutu pembelajaran Al-Qur’an dan karakter religius siswa. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Quran reading instruction using the Ummi method at SD Lukman Hakim, Jember Regency. The school emphasizes Quran literacy, memorization, and Islamic foundational teachings. A qualitative approach was employed through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show: (1) The Ummi method is implemented gradually, from Pre-Ummi to Post-Ummi stages, enhancing students’ tartil reading skills. (2) The method effectively structures the learning process and fosters students’ motivation to practice Islamic teachings. (3) Students aged 11–13 demonstrated significant progress in Quran reading ability due to the method’s structured approach. Overall, the Ummi method positively contributes to the quality of Quranic learning and students’ religious character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Adiwiyata school culture at MTs Unggulan Al-Qodiri 1 Jember from the perspective of Islamic education. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving purposively selected participants including the principal, teachers, students, and staff. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and validated through source triangulation and member checking. Findings reveal that Adiwiyata values are internalized through three main strategies: habituation of eco-friendly behavior based on tauhid values, integration of khalifah and amanah concepts into the curriculum, and teacher role modeling in environmental care. The study proposes the “Islamic Adiwiyata Circle Model,” illustrating the link between spiritual awareness, ecological action, and student character formation. This model offers a novel contribution to the development of environmentally based Islamic education in madrasas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi budaya sekolah Adiwiyata di MTs Unggulan Al-Qodiri 1 Jember dalam perspektif pendidikan Islam. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus digunakan, dengan informan terdiri dari kepala madrasah, guru, siswa, dan tenaga kependidikan yang dipilih secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, serta divalidasi dengan triangulasi sumber dan member check. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa internalisasi nilai-nilai Adiwiyata di madrasah dilakukan melalui tiga strategi utama: pembiasaan perilaku ramah lingkungan berbasis nilai tauhid, integrasi konsep khalifah dan amanah dalam kurikulum, serta keteladanan guru dalam menjaga lingkungan. Penelitian ini juga merumuskan “Model Lingkaran Adiwiyata Islami” yang menghubungkan kesadaran spiritual, tindakan ekologis, dan pembentukan karakter siswa. Model ini menjadi kontribusi baru dalam pengembangan pendidikan Islam berbasis lingkungan di madrasah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merespons minimnya pemetaan operasional integrasi nilai Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (ASWAJA) dalam pembelajaran matematika di madrasah. Studi kualitatif berparadigma fenomenologi ini bertujuan merumuskan model integrasi konsep keseimbangan (tawazun) dan keadilan (iʿtidāl) pada Pendidikan Matematika dan Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi kelas selama 18 jam pelajaran, wawancara mendalam terhadap 12 guru PAI dan matematika, serta analisis 24 RPP di tiga madrasah aliyah berbasis ASWAJA di Jawa Timur. Analisis tematik berbantuan NVivo menghasilkan tiga tema utama: (1) keseimbangan epistemik yang memandu pengajaran simetri dan geometri; (2) keadilan numerik yang menstrukturkan operasi pecahan dan studi kasus distribusi berbasis konteks sosial; dan (3) integrasi reflektif yang menghubungkan konsep matematika dengan hadis moderasi. Studi ini menawarkan “Model Integrasi Tawazun‑Iʿtidāl” sebagai kebaruan teoretis dengan menambahkan indikator keadilan numerik ke kerangka integrasi nilai. Implikasi praktisnya mencakup pengembangan modul tematik, pelatihan desain RPP berbasis nilai, dan evaluasi karakter moderasi siswa. Riset lanjutan direkomendasikan untuk menguji model pada jenjang MI/MTs guna menilai transferabilitasnya. Empirical evidence on the operational integration of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (ASWAJA) values into mathematics instruction is still limited. This qualitative phenomenological study aims to formulate an integration model of the ASWAJA concepts of balance (tawazun) and justice (iʿtidāl) within Mathematics Education and Islamic Religious Education (IRE). Data were obtained from 18 lesson‑hours of classroom observation, in‑depth interviews with 12 mathematics and IRE teachers, and document analysis of 24 lesson plans across three ASWAJA‑oriented Islamic senior high schools in East Java, Indonesia. NVivo‑assisted thematic analysis yielded three dominant themes: (1) epistemic balance framing the teaching of symmetry and geometry; (2) numeric justice structuring fraction operations and context‑based distribution problems; and (3) reflective integration linking mathematical concepts to prophetic traditions on moderation. The study proposes an “Integrated Tawazun‑Iʿtidāl Model” as its theoretical novelty by adding numeric‑justice indicators to existing value‑integration frameworks. Practical implications include thematic teaching modules, value‑driven lesson‑plan design training, and character‑moderation assessment tools. Future research should pilot the model at elementary and junior‑high levels to examine its transferability and wider applicability.

Abstract

This study aims to develop student worksheet (LKPD) teaching materials based on the Clash of Champions educational game to enhance the critical thinking skills of eighth-grade students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The research employed the ADDIE development model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. Validation instruments involved media and content experts, along with practicality questionnaires for teachers and students. The results showed media validity at 98% and content validity at 92%. Practicality scores reached 96% (teachers) and 97% (students). The effectiveness test revealed an increase in students’ average scores from 63% to 98%, with an N-Gain score of 0.94 (high category). These findings indicate that the game-based LKPD is effective in fostering critical thinking in Islamic Education learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar berupa Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis game edukatif Clash of Champions guna meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Penelitian menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE yang mencakup analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Instrumen validasi melibatkan ahli media dan materi, serta angket kepraktisan guru dan siswa. Hasil validasi menunjukkan tingkat kevalidan 98% (media) dan 92% (materi). Kepraktisan memperoleh skor 96% (guru) dan 97% (siswa). Efektivitas bahan ajar ditunjukkan melalui peningkatan nilai rata-rata dari 63% menjadi 98% dengan N-Gain sebesar 0,94, tergolong kategori tinggi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar LKPD berbasis game efektif meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran PAI.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas pandangan Imam Al-Ghazali tentang peran guru dalam pendidikan agama Islam serta relevansinya terhadap praktik pendidikan masa kini. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka kualitatif dengan menganalisis karya-karya utama Al-Ghazali dan sumber-sumber ilmiah terbaru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Al-Ghazali memandang guru bukan hanya sebagai penyampai ilmu, tetapi sebagai pembimbing spiritual yang menanamkan nilai akhlak dan mendekatkan murid kepada Allah. Nilai-nilai penting yang ditekankan meliputi keikhlasan, kasih sayang, kerendahan hati, dan menjauhi orientasi materi. Ia juga menekankan pentingnya metode pengajaran bertahap yang disesuaikan dengan kemampuan murid. Kebaruan dari penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi pemikiran klasik Islam dengan tantangan pendidikan kontemporer, terutama dalam pembentukan karakter peserta didik di era digital. Kontribusi penelitian ini bersifat teoretis dan praktis bagi pengembangan pendidikan Islam berbasis akhlak. Penelitian ini mendorong para guru untuk menerapkan nilai-nilai kenabian dalam membentuk generasi yang religius, cerdas, dan berakhlak mulia. This study explores Imam Al-Ghazali’s perspective on the role of teachers in Islamic religious education and its relevance to contemporary educational practices. Employing a qualitative library research method, the study analyzes Al-Ghazali's major works alongside recent scholarly sources. Findings reveal that Al-Ghazali conceptualizes teachers not merely as transmitters of knowledge, but as spiritual mentors who guide students toward moral excellence and closeness to Allah. Key values emphasized include sincerity, compassion, humility, and the avoidance of materialistic motives. Furthermore, Al-Ghazali advocates for gradual teaching methods tailored to students’ individual capacities. The novelty of this study lies in bridging classical Islamic educational philosophy with modern pedagogical challenges, particularly the ethical formation of students in the digital era. This research contributes theoretically to the development of character-based Islamic education and provides practical insights for teachers and curriculum designers. It encourages educators to embody prophetic values in shaping a morally upright and spiritually aware generation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengelolaan pembelajaran bahasa Arab daring pada Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Swasta (PTKIS) di wilayah KOPERTAIS IV Jawa Timur. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif interpretatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi terhadap dosen dan pimpinan program studi Bahasa Arab. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring berjalan adaptif, meskipun dihadapkan pada keterbatasan infrastruktur, akses internet, dan partisipasi mahasiswa. Keterampilan bahasa reseptif (menyimak dan membaca) lebih mudah diajarkan dibandingkan keterampilan produktif (berbicara dan menulis). Peran fasilitator menjadi kunci utama dalam menjaga motivasi dan efektivitas pembelajaran. Aplikasi teknologi seperti Zoom, Google Meet, dan LMS institusional digunakan secara variatif. Penelitian ini menekankan perlunya peningkatan kapasitas digital dosen, standarisasi sistem evaluasi, dan sinergi dengan pemangku kepentingan untuk menghadirkan pembelajaran daring berkualitas dan berkelanjutan. This study aims to identify the management of online Arabic language instruction at Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIS) within the KOPERTAIS IV East Java region. Using an interpretive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews and field observations with lecturers and department heads. The findings reveal adaptive implementation of online learning, despite challenges in infrastructure, internet access, and student participation. Receptive language skills (listening and reading) were easier to teach than productive skills (speaking and writing). The facilitator’s role was crucial in maintaining motivation and learning effectiveness. Various technologies such as Zoom, Google Meet, and institutional LMS were employed. This study underscores the need to enhance lecturers’ digital capacity, standardize evaluation systems, and strengthen stakeholder engagement to ensure sustainable and high-quality online Arabic education.

Abstract

The rising divorce rate and complex family issues in Bondowoso highlight the urgency of comprehensive premarital education. This article examines the implementation of premarital courses based on Islamic educational values as a form of family empowerment to foster family resilience. The community service program was conducted in Bondowoso and Wringin sub-districts, involving 120 participants. The method used included participatory counseling, discussions, and lectures. Key topics covered were Marriage Law, the concept of sakinah family, and reproductive health. The findings indicate high enthusiasm from participants and competent resource persons, although challenges such as time limitations and participant absenteeism were noted. The course effectively instilled Islamic values into family life and strengthened prospective couples' understanding of familial roles and responsibilities. Strengthening the program through extended duration and more comprehensive materials is recommended for future implementation. Peningkatan angka perceraian dan kompleksitas masalah keluarga di Bondowoso menunjukkan pentingnya pembekalan pranikah yang komprehensif. Artikel ini mengkaji pelaksanaan kursus pra nikah berbasis nilai-nilai pendidikan Islam sebagai bentuk pemberdayaan keluarga guna menciptakan ketahanan keluarga. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Bondowoso dan Kecamatan Wringin dengan melibatkan 120 peserta. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan partisipatif, diskusi, dan ceramah. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup Undang-Undang Perkawinan, konsep keluarga sakinah, serta kesehatan reproduksi. Hasilnya menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dari peserta dan narasumber yang kompeten, meskipun terdapat kendala waktu dan ketidakhadiran sebagian peserta. Kursus ini efektif dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai Islam dalam kehidupan berumah tangga dan memperkuat pemahaman calon pengantin terhadap peran dan tanggung jawab keluarga. Diperlukan penguatan pelaksanaan dengan waktu lebih panjang dan dukungan materi yang lebih lengkap.

Abstract

Pendidikan akhlak merupakan inti dari pendidikan agama Islam, dengan misi Nabi Muhammad SAW untuk menyempurnakan akhlak. Di era globalisasi, kompleksitas problem akhlak menuntut pendekatan baru, salah satunya ma’rifatun nafs (mengenal diri) sebagaimana dikemukakan Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak. Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan makna ma’rifatun nafs, implementasinya dalam pendidikan akhlak, dan posisinya sebagai epistemologi. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian pustaka dengan sumber utama Ajaib al-Qalb karya Imam al-Ghazali dan analisis Miles & Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ma’rifatun nafs adalah pengetahuan tentang hakikat diri manusia, mencakup jasmani dan rohani (ruh, qalb, aql, nafs). Akhlak terbentuk dari kondisi qalb yang dipengaruhi aql dan syahwat. Qalb yang dikuasai syahwat melahirkan akhlak tercela, sedangkan yang mengendalikannya melahirkan akhlak terpuji. Pendekatan ini menjadi dasar epistemologis pembentukan kepribadian luhur. Moral education is central to Islamic education, with the Prophet Muhammad SAW tasked to perfect human character. In the globalization era, moral challenges require new approaches, such as ma’rifatun nafs (self-knowledge) as proposed by Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak. This study aims to explain the concept, its application in moral education, and its role as an epistemological foundation. Using library research with Ajaib al-Qalb by Imam al-Ghazali as the main source and Miles & Huberman’s analysis, the findings show that ma’rifatun nafs involves understanding human nature, both physical and spiritual (ruh, qalb, aql, nafs). Moral conduct stems from the qalb’s condition, influenced by aql and shahwat. A qalb dominated by shahwat yields vice, while controlling it produces virtue. This approach provides a solid epistemological basis for noble character formation.

Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is reshaping education, including Islamic contexts, while raising ethical, digital, and infrastructural concerns. This study explores how ethical and contextual integration of GenAI can drive inclusive and sustainable Islamic education reform. Through a systematic review of 85 high-impact articles, a three-layered framework is developed: technological infrastructure, human capability, and ethical governance. Key findings highlight the urgency of early AI literacy, adaptive teacher training, and fair, outcome-based evaluation. The proposed “GenAI-Integrated Islamic Learning Ecosystem” model maps the adoption from awareness to autonomy. This study bridges Islamic ethics, sociotechnical approaches, and human capital policy to offer strategic insights for ethical and empowering AI governance. Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) telah mengubah ekosistem pendidikan, termasuk pendidikan Islam, namun memunculkan tantangan seperti kesenjangan keterampilan digital, ketimpangan infrastruktur, dan isu etika. Studi ini menganalisis integrasi GenAI secara etis dan kontekstual untuk mendukung reformasi pendidikan Islam yang inklusif dan berkelanjutan. Dengan systematic literature review terhadap 85 artikel, dikembangkan kerangka analitis tiga lapis: infrastruktur teknologi, kapabilitas manusia, dan tata kelola etis. Temuan menekankan pentingnya literasi AI sejak dini, pelatihan adaptif bagi pendidik, serta evaluasi berbasis keadilan. Model “Ekosistem Pembelajaran Islami Berbasis GenAI” ditawarkan sebagai peta evolusi adopsi AI. Studi ini menyinergikan etika Islam, pendekatan sosial-teknologis, dan kebijakan SDM sebagai kontribusi strategis bagi tata kelola AI yang manusiawi dan berkeadilan.
