Abstract

Nowadays, water faucets play an important role in controlling water flow. Besides that, faucets are generally moved manually by every human activity by turning or moving the faucet up or down. This manual faucet system has weaknesses, namely water wastage and easily damaged faucets. The use of automatic faucets in public facilities can minimize waste their use because generally people often forget to close the faucet again. Besides, using Arduino-based automatic water faucets can reduce the transmission of Covid 19 for the community, especially during the current pandemic. This activity aims to design Arduino-based automatic water faucets at public facilities to reduce the spread and transmission of COVID-19, especially in the Girimekar Village area, Bandung Regency. The target of this activity is youth and cadets in the area. The implementation of the Arduino-Based Automatic Water Faucet design in training resulted in a prototype unit of Arduino-based automatic water faucet using the ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04 as detection and use of an electric solenoid valve as a form of direct water control.

Abstract

This study examines the energy literacy profile of engineering students as vocational high school teacher candidates for renewable energy engineering expertise programs in terms of 3 energy literacy domains: knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. This research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive-comparative design, conducted on 135 engineering students from 3 study programs at the Indonesian University of Education. The results obtained are that the energy literacy knowledge of engineering students as vocational high school teacher candidates for renewable energy engineering expertise programs is low. Still, their energy literacy attitudes and behaviors are quite good. There was no statistically significant difference in energy literacy between the female and male student groups. In this study, it was known that students from 3 study programs received energy content from different courses. Their energy literacy results were influenced by differences in the range and depth of energy content provided by each study program. The results of this study can be a consideration for universities to develop energy literacy education and learning models and pay attention to the needs, content, and depth of energy content in each study program, especially study programs that are qualified as teachers candidates of vocational high school Renewable Energy Engineering Expertise Program.

Abstract

Even though HOTS-based learning has been implemented since 2018, students' readiness has not been tested. This study aims to test the willingness of students to learn based on HOTS in Indonesia. Readiness is reviewed based on the 4C criteria: critical thinking, creative, communicative, and collaborative. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The sample was selected by random cluster sampling of 2.645 Indonesian students. The test method uses a questionnaire and observation. Data were taken by using observation, interview, and questionnaire techniques. The results show that students look active during discussions but still find it challenging to develop their creativity to solve problems. In quizzes, students should start to get used to the thinking process at levels C4 to C6, but students still choose C1 to C3. This study concludes that students are ready for criteria C1 to C3 and unprepared for learning at levels C4 to C6. Students need intense coaching and mentoring to support the successful implementation of HOTS-based learning.

Abstract

A good school website is not only seen from the design side but, what is more important, from the content available whether it can provide useful information for the school community and other parties who need information about the school. So far, there are no standard guidelines and rules for creating website content for Vocational High Schools (SMK). Therefore, this study aims to investigate the content quality of SMK websites in the city of Padang. This research is qualitative, namely to analyze the availability of content criteria on the website of Vocational High Schools (SMK) in West Sumatra Province. The methods used in this research are content analysis and surveys. Researchers took samples from SMK in Padang City with 27 schools in this study. This research resulted in investigative data that the SMK websites in Padang City mostly used official domains. However, the average criteria for SMK websites in Riau Province were still standard. Still, content that links to the school's business and industrial world only gets a score of 33%, indicating the school still needs to update content regularly.

Abstract

Welding practice is one type of practice with a fairly long duration. Therefore, an ergonomic welding table design is needed so that the practice can practice safely and comfortably. The purpose of this study was to evaluate existing designs with the REBA analysis approach and then redesign the more ergonomic welding table. Data collection technique using purposive sampling technique. The proposed welding table design is based on anthropometric data of 30 UNS Mechanical Engineering Education students class of 2018, 2019, and 2020. The design design of this welding table uses SolidWork 2019 software. The calculation of ergonomic risk evaluation with REBA resulted in a score of 6 meaning that immediate improvement is needed and requires further investigation. The results of this study obtained a new welding table design design that has dimensions: 42 cm in length, 40 cm in width, and 2,010 cm in height. This welding table also provides space to put the welding machine under the welding table. Thus, the improvement of the design of the welding table will increase the efficiency of the implementation of the practice. In addition, the practice will be safer and more comfortable because the welding table has adjusted to the posture of the average student.
