Abstract

This research is a type of research that focuses on efforts to increase student scientific literacy. The purpose of this study is to characterize the profile of increasing students' scientific literacy abilities through the development of socio-scientific-based worksheets. The research sample was 2C semester students in the Physics Education Study Program for the 2022–2023 academic year, with a total of 10 students, and the research design used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The findings show that the average N-gain obtained is 0.48, which is included in the moderate improvement category. The significance level of 0.00, less than 0.05 (sign. 0.05), was found in the results of hypothesis testing using the t test, indicating that Ho was not accepted. Based on the test results, there is a significant difference between the level of scientific literacy of students before and after implementing learning by making socioscience-based worksheets. This study shows how teaching using socio-scientific-oriented worksheets can raise the profile of students' scientific literacy abilities.

Abstract

Virtual Laboratory (V-Lab) is a media platform for interaction and visualization of learning for practicum-based courses. V-Lab is a solution to learning problems due to the lack of real laboratory facilities as well as an alternative for practicums that require a high level of safety. The purpose of this study was to determine students' mastery of concepts after using the V-Lab in the core Physics course. The method used is quasi-experimental. The research subjects were 15 Unuha physics education students. The data collection technique is a concept mastery test. The results showed that the increase in mastery of the concept was 0.432 with moderate criteria, while based on the paired sample test, it was known that the sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 <0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an average difference between pre-test and post-test concept mastery, which means that there is an influence of V-Lab application in increasing mastery of core physics concepts. The data shows that the Virtual Laboratory is effectively used to improve mastery of the concepts of core physics courses.

Abstract

The Cu/Ni layer is a layer that can be used as a material for low temperature sensors. The coating can be made by means of electroplating. Electroplating has limitations in controlling the number and size of metal particles. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the grain size of Cu and Ni in electroplated Cu/Ni layers at varying voltages from 6 to 8 volts using the modified Scherrer method and to analyze the effect of stress on grain size. The method used in this research is descriptive method using a quantitative approach. The results showed that the grain size of the Cu substrate was D= (0.5071 ± 0.06) nm. As for the Ni layer, stress affects grain size. A voltage of 7 volts can produce the largest grain size of 0.776059 nm.

Abstract

Photoelectrode preparation that requires high heating temperatures will hinder the future development of PSCs on flexible plastic substrates. Therefore, ZnO is a viable alternative for flexible PSCs because it can be processed at low temperatures. This research focuses on the influence of ZnO photoelectrode layer thickness on the optical properties and performance of PSCs. The transmittance of ZnO thin films was found to be more than 50% in each sample. In addition, the bandgap obtained ranged from 3.12 to 3.20 eV. The efficiency results are 0.90×10-5% at a thickness of 10 µm, 1.09×10-5% at a thickness of 8 µm, 2.68×10-5% at a thickness of 6 µm, and the best efficiency is 4.31×10-5% at 4 µm thickness. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, reducing the thickness of the ZnO photoelectrode layer can increase the transmittance and efficiency of solar cells so that solar cell performance increases.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an e-module based on Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) equipped with questions that refer to the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) for high school students on the topic of linear motion that is valid, readable, and practical. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) research design with a 4D model, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. This research produces an e-module for the topic of linear motion in the form of an application that can be used on Android-based devices. E-module has material presented with POE stages in each learning activity, which has the opportunity to improve students' science process skills. Moreover, the e-module is also equipped with AKM questions on the same topic, linear motion, which is expected to improve students' reasoning skills. The results of this research show that the e-module developed is classified as very valid with a percentage of 95.6%. In addition, the e-module also has very good readability and practicality, with a percentage of 94.8%. Thus, the e-module can be used in learning the physics topic, linear motion, for high school students.

Abstract

Indonesia produced a total of 3,203,775 tons of pineapples in 2022, generating approximately 4,024,800 kg of pineapple peel waste annually, which is then wasted. Therefore, this research aims to utilize pineapple peel waste as the main material for bio-batteries and employs Cu-Al electrodes. The objective of this study is to enhance the voltage and current of bio-batteries made from pineapple peel waste by maintaining the cells in a closed condition to reduce oxidation and using a denser electrolyte through the addition of NaOH and used battery electrolytes. This research employs an experimental method to determine the measurement values of voltage, current, power, light intensity, and bio-battery capacity. The research findings indicate that bio-batteries made from pineapple peel waste with the addition of NaOH and used battery electrolytes increase the maximum voltage and current by 181% and 100%, respectively, resulting in a power output of 36 mW and a light intensity of 540 lux. The best bio-battery capacity of 780 mAH is found in sample A3. Bio-batteries made from pineapple peel waste with the addition of NaOH and used battery electrolytes show potential as an alternative energy source.

Abstract

This research was carried out to find out the dynamics of climate change in the Bangka Belitung Islands, by utilizing BMKG observer station data at Depati Meteorological Station, starting in 1981 until 2022 that the official obtained from the BMKG website online. This research was conducted at the Education laboratory of FKIP Physics University of Sriwijaya. The research method used is secondary data research with a quantitative approach. Data analysis was used using the RClimDex application with the Expert Team on Climate Change Detection and Indices (ETCCDI) rules. Trend analysis was carried out with non-pithelmetry statistical tests Man-Kendall and Sens tests. The temperature indexes experience significant trends, which indicates that the longer the temperature in the Bangka Belitung Islands will increase.

Abstract

Cramer's rule is used by combining matrix determinant methods applied in the presentation of solving Systems of Linear Equations (SLE). The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in student learning outcomes when using the Cramer Rule assisted by the Sarrus Method using the elimination substitution method on two-loop electrical circuit material. The research method used is the Posttest-Only Control Design experimental method.  The results of this study are evidenced by the results of the hypothesis test which states that there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the control class and the learning outcomes of the experimental class. As well as the results of a very positive response from students to the implementation of Cramer's rule assisted by the Sarrus method. Thus, the conclusion of this study is that the implementation of Cramer's rule assisted by Sarrus method is proven to be effective as an alternative solution to solving two-loop electrical circuit problems.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of practicum activities assisted by the Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite (PTSS) application with the discovery learning model in improving students' graph interpretation skills. The research employed an experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design and was conducted at SMA S Global Madani Bandar Lampung. The instrument used was an essay test on pendulum and spring subtopics. The results showed that the N-gain of the experimental class was in the high category (0.71), while the control class was in the medium category (0.50). The Mann-Whitney hypothesis test produced a significant value (0.001 < 0.05), indicating a difference in the average improvement of graph interpretation skills between the two classes. Furthermore, the effect size test yielded a d'Cohen value of 0.841, categorized as high. These findings suggest that practicum activities based on discovery learning with the PTSS application significantly enhance students' graph interpretation skills compared to manual practicum activities.
