Abstract

This study examines strategic capacities and aspirations of 14 Indonesian tourism villages through a cross-regional SWOT and SOAR analysis. Using a qualitative multiple-case study design, semi-structured interviews was conducted with one Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group) representative per village and reviewed secondary documents, coding data manually in Excel. Thematic analysis identified three core strengths rich natural attractions, distinctive cultural heritage, and active community involvement and three primary weaknesses underdeveloped infrastructure, limited strategic capacity, and low digital promotion. Key opportunities emerged around digital marketing, niche tourism product development, and multi-stakeholder collaboration, while environmental risks and fragmented governance surfaced as major threats. Informants’ aspirations centered on becoming models of eco-cultural tourism, empowering youth, and integrating tradition with modern strategies. Early results include increased homestay revenues, growth of MSMEs, and the revival of cultural events, demonstrating that asset-based planning coupled with targeted capacity building can yield sustainable outcomes. The findings underscore the value of combining diagnostic (SWOT) and forward-looking (SOAR) frameworks to guide community-based tourism development and offer practical insights for policymakers and practitioners aiming to foster inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and ecological resilience. Abstract

This study explores the potential of Batik Tidayu to be developed as a Geographical Indication (GI) product in the future, with the aim of supporting sustainable cultural tourism in Singkawang, Indonesia. Batik Tidayu is a contemporary textile that reflects the multicultural identity of the city through the fusion of Tionghoa, Dayak, and Melayu traditions. The research employed a qualitative approach, using interviews with the Tourism Office and Dekranasda of Singkawang, supported by document analysis and relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that while Batik Tidayu embodies strong cultural heritage value, it currently faces key challenges such as the absence of a producer association (MPIG), lack of product standardization, and limited awareness of communal intellectual property rights. Nevertheless, stakeholders recognize its potential as a cultural asset capable of preserving local identity, empowering artisans, and contributing to the creative economy. The study concludes that collaboration among government, artisans, academics, and communities is essential to prepare Batik Tidayu for GI recognition and to align it with long-term sustainable tourism development. Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in communication patterns and marketing strategies, particularly among Generation Z, who are highly active users of social media. In the food and beverage (F&B) industry, the use of digital-based strategies such as influencer marketing and electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) has become increasingly important for building brand image and attracting consumer interest. This study aims to examine the influence of influencer marketing and e-WOM on the visiting interest of Generation Z, using a case study of Holywings Bar Jakarta. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents belonging to the Generation Z cohort. The collected data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, simple and multiple linear regression, as well as the coefficient of determination. The results show that influencer marketing contributes 38% to visiting interest, while e-WOM contributes 32.9%. Simultaneously, both variables account for 41% of the variation in Generation Z's interest in visiting Holywings Bar Jakarta. These findings indicate that digital marketing strategies via social media play a significant role in shaping consumer preferences and visit intentions, particularly among the younger demographic, within the context of urban entertainment destinations. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of customer satisfaction on visiting decisions, mediated by customer loyalty, among consumers of Babeh Sadeli Betawi Restaurant in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang. The approach employed was quantitative, utilizing an explanatory survey method with 150 respondents selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using path analysis, with the help of bootstrapping, to test the mediation effect. The results showed that customer satisfaction has a positive and significant impact on loyalty and visiting decisions, both directly and indirectly. Customer loyalty proved to be a substantial mediator that strengthens the relationship between satisfaction and visiting choices. This finding confirms that positive experiences with food, taste, service, atmosphere, and price can shape satisfaction, leading to loyalty and repeat visits. Customer satisfaction and loyalty play an essential role in retaining customers of local ethnic restaurants. The practical implications of this study suggest that restaurant managers should maintain the quality of the customer experience holistically, prioritize the authenticity of Betawi culture, and refine digital promotion strategies to enhance consumer loyalty and informed decision-making. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of micro-influencers on consumer visit intentions to fine dining restaurants. Micro-influencers, with followers ranging from 500 to 5.000, are considered more authentic and trusted compared to larger influencers. The research uses a quantitative method with purposive sampling on 271 respondents who have viewed micro-influencer content related to fine dining restaurants. Data was collected through a 5-point Likert questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS and PLS-SEM. The results are expected to explain the impact of hedonic and utilitarian values of micro-influencers on consumer visit interest. These findings provide practical contributions for restaurant operators in formulating effective digital promotion strategies. The implications of this research are divided into three parts: theoretically, it strengthens digital marketing studies by showing that the hedonic aspect is more dominant than functional benefits in fine dining; practically, restaurants need to choose micro-influencers with high engagement that align with their brand image to emphasize emotional experiences; and from a policy perspective, this research could serve as input for regulators in formulating endorsement ethics by micro-influencers. Abstract

Public hazard signs are a critical component of tourism safety management. This research therefore aims to investigate the adequacy and effectiveness of public hazard signage at key tourist locations in Nusa Penida Island. Data are collected by questionnaire to tourists, interviews to tourists, local community and government officials and are analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that hazard signs were available in some major tourist spots, yet their number and distribution remained limited and uneven. Many signs were placed in less strategic locations such as parking areas rather than at high-risk zones, reducing their visibility and preventive function. The design and language of the signs were often text-heavy and primarily in Indonesian, with minimal use of international symbols, making them less effective for foreign visitors. Furthermore, most signs only provided general warnings without clear preventive instructions, while their physical condition in many places was poor due to lack of regular maintenance. The implications of these findings suggest the urgent need for improving the quality, placement, and maintenance of hazard signage in Nusa Penida. Collaborative efforts between local government, community, and tourism stakeholders are essential to develop standardized, multilingual, and internationally recognizable signs. Strengthening signage infrastructure will not only enhance visitor safety but also contribute to the sustainable development and positive image of Nusa Penida as a tourism destination. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the accommodation contracting process in supporting travel agent services, with a case study at EXO Travel Indonesia. The research identifies key issues such as delays in contract finalization, mismatches between contract prices and reservation system entries, and limited internal coordination, all of which can impact service quality and operational efficiency. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation over a six-month period involving 25 respondents from internal teams and hotel partners. The data were analyzed through processes of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing with ongoing verification. Findings reveal that while the contracting process is generally effective, it still faces administrative and communication challenges. Nevertheless, the presence of clear, detailed, and flexible contracts contributes positively to service delivery by enhancing client satisfaction and strengthening relationships with accommodation partners. The study also finds that service effectiveness is significantly supported by the clarity of contractual information and the proactive role of the contracting team in ensuring smooth cross-department coordination. These insights emphasize the importance of a streamlined and collaborative contracting process in delivering efficient and high-quality services within the travel industry. Abstract

Marine tourism holds immense potential for driving economic development, environmental stewardship, and cultural exchange. However, the rapid growth of coastal destinations often generates imbalances in benefit distribution, environmental degradation, and limited community involvement. This study examines the role of volunteer tourism (voluntourism) in empowering coastal communities in Tulamben, Bali, a world-renowned diving destination. Using a qualitative case study with a phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review involving 15 stakeholders representing community groups, NGOs, government officials, tourism operators, and volunteers. The findings reveal that voluntourism strengthens community participation through grassroots initiatives, capacity building, and conservation programs. Socio-economic outcomes include income diversification and entrepreneurship development, while environmental benefits are evident in coral reef restoration and enhanced community stewardship. Challenges persist, including unequal benefit distribution, limited governance, and reliance on external actors. This paper argues that voluntourism, when integrated into community-based tourism (CBT), serves as a strategic pathway for inclusive and sustainable marine ecotourism.
