Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of internal control in the supplier debt payment process at Courtyard by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua Resort Hotel. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis was carried out based on the five components of internal control according to the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) framework. The results showed that in general, internal control over supplier debt payments at this hotel was in the highly effective category. Of the 15 criteria analyzed based on the five components of internal control, 14 criteria have been met. 1 unmet criterion comes from the risk assessment component, which shows that there are weaknesses in the consistency of implementing debt payment policies to suppliers. The other four components have met all the indicators set, so in general the internal control system can be categorized as very effective. The system implemented has been supported by clear work procedures and information technology in the procurement and debt payment process. However, weaknesses in the risk assessment aspect need to be followed up immediately so as not to have an impact on delays in payments and deteriorating relationships with suppliers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the food waste management strategy implemented by Hotel X in an effort to streamline food costs and support sustainability. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach by involving three key informants from hotel management. Data collection techniques are carried out through in-depth interviews, direct observations in the field, and documentation studies related to kitchen operational processes. Data analysis techniques are carried out based on the Miles & Huberman model which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that Hotel X Bali implements a structured food waste management strategy, namely by planning the purchase of foodstuffs based on the occupancy rate of guests and paying attention to the expiration date using the First In First Out (FIFO) method. The hotel also uses a just-in-time system in the procurement of raw materials to avoid waste and stock buildup. Flexible menu planning strategies and employee training on food waste management also contribute to achieving food cost efficiency. In addition, food waste that is still suitable for consumption is distributed through the food donation program, while other organic waste is processed into compost. The implementation of this strategy has proven effective in reducing the amount of food waste, increasing operational efficiency, and strengthening Hotel X's commitment to sustainability principles based on the Triple Bottom Line approach (economic, environmental, and social). This strategy not only supports corporate social responsibility, but also improves the image and competitiveness of hotels in the eyes of consumers who are increasingly concerned about environmental issues.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of peer social support on emotion regulation among migrant students in Medan, Indonesia. Migrant students often face a range of adaptation challenges, including adjusting to new social environments, managing academic demands, and dealing with feelings of homesickness. These experiences can lead to increased levels of stress and anxiety, making effective emotion regulation a critical psychological skill. The research adopts an associative quantitative approach and involves a sample of 350 migrant students enrolled in various universities across Medan. The sample was selected based on the Isaac and Michael table with a 5% margin of error. Data were collected using validated scales measuring peer social support and emotion regulation, both employing a Likert-scale format. Statistical analysis was conducted using simple linear regression via SPSS 27.0. The results show that peer social support has a significant positive effect on emotion regulation, as indicated by a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.113, meaning that peer social support accounts for 11.3% of the variance in emotion regulation, with the remaining 88.7% influenced by other factors. The regression equation Y = 33.595 + 0.253X reflects a direct positive relationship between the two variables. Most participants were categorized as having moderate levels of emotion regulation (82.9%) and high levels of peer social support (54.3%). These findings highlight the vital role of peer social support in enhancing the emotional well-being of migrant students and suggest that fostering strong peer connections can contribute to more effective emotional coping strategies in academic and social contexts

Abstract

Group cohesiveness refers to the strong sense of solidarity and unity within a group, reflected through positive interactions, frequent time spent together, and high collective morale. This study aims to explore and describe the group cohesiveness of the Icikiwir motorcycle community members in the Solo area. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews and direct observations involving nine informants, consisting of both members and leaders of the community. The Icikiwir City Bike Motorcycle community was formed not only for recreational purposes but also to establish meaningful social networks, expand friendships, enhance mutual respect, foster cooperation, and increase members’ self-confidence. The findings of this study revealed that six out of the nine informants exhibited strong group cohesiveness. These members actively participated in various community activities, demonstrated loyalty, and worked collaboratively to achieve group objectives. Their involvement contributed to creating a supportive and friendly environment within the community. Conversely, one member showed poor group cohesiveness due to a lack of engagement and minimal attendance in group events. This individual had weaker social bonds with other members, which impacted his sense of belonging. Meanwhile, the two community leaders demonstrated excellent cohesiveness by consistently supporting and embracing all members. Their leadership played a pivotal role in strengthening group unity and promoting inclusiveness. The study concludes that active participation, mutual trust, and inclusive leadership significantly contribute to the development and sustainability of group cohesiveness. These findings underscore the importance of social interaction and shared goals in building a strong, cohesive community, particularly in informal social groups such as motorcycle communities.

Abstract

The improvement of receptive language skills in early childhood is still relatively low because this period is the early stage of learning. Children at an early age need the right stimulation to develop an understanding of spoken language, including listening, understanding, and responding appropriately. This research aims to improve receptive language skills through character-based storytelling activities in group B children at Kemala Bhayangkari Tanjung Morawa Kindergarten. The method used is Class Action Research (PTK) with two cycles, each consisting of stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The study subjects consisted of 20 children (10 boys and 10 girls) with homogeneous age characteristics. Data was collected through observation, assignment, and documentation techniques. Character-based story activities are carried out using visual media and interesting character narratives to stimulate children's imagination and captivity. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in children's receptive language skills. The percentage of children in the Undeveloped (BB) and Starting to Develop (MB) categories decreased drastically, while the Developing Expectations (BSH) and Very Good Developed (BSB) categories increased significantly. Children become more active in responding to stories, able to repeat sentences heard, understand simple commands, and show a higher interest in reading activities. In addition, character-based story activities have a positive impact on children's social-emotional development, because they learn to recognize the moral values of the story characters, such as honesty, courage, and responsibility. Verbal interaction between teacher and child increases, strengthens interpersonal relationships and creates a more communicative and supportive learning environment. Children also showed a better ability to relate stories to their own experiences, which is an indicator of improved critical thinking skills and language comprehension.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess how work discipline, communication, and work stress affect the work performance of staff at PT. Kopi Khas Sumatera. Workers are an important part of achieving business goals, so it is very important to understand things about staff work results. The success of a company not only depends on strategy or capital but also on how optimal employees perform in their respective roles. Therefore, performance is a critical aspect to monitor and evaluate. Information obtained from distributing questionnaires has been tested for validity and accuracy of information. The validity test shows that all items have a calculated r-value greater than 0.213, indicating that all questionnaire statements are valid. Meanwhile, the information straightness test using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov method shows a normal distribution of information, with a significant number of 0.200 which exceeds the threshold of 0.05. From multiple linear regression analysis, the formula Y = 2.067 + 0.310X₁ + 0.304X₂ + 0.445X₃ is obtained. This model indicates that work discipline (X₁), communication (X₂), and work stress (X₃) all positively influence staff work performance (Y). The F-calculated value of 98.024 is significantly greater than the F-table value of 2.72, and the significance value of 0.000 is less than 0.05. These findings confirm that all three independent variables simultaneously have a significant impact on employee performance. The study concludes that improving discipline, maintaining effective communication, and managing stress levels are essential strategies to enhance employee productivity. Managers should create supportive work environments and develop communication channels that encourage collaboration and stress resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the differences in self-confidence and emotional regulation based on gender among students at SMKN 7 Surakarta. Self-confidence and emotional regulation are crucial aspects in the psychological dynamics of adolescents, often influenced by social constructs, including gender roles. In this context, gender can affect how students build their self-confidence and manage emotions in various life situations, particularly in school. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to delve into the subjective experiences of male and female students through in-depth interviews and participatory observation. The informants in this study consisted of 12 students, purposively selected based on the consideration of the guidance counselor (BK) and gender characteristic variations in the class. The results show that female students tend to be more open in expressing emotions and have more adaptive emotional regulation abilities. Female students are better at identifying, regulating, and expressing their feelings in a healthier way in various social and academic situations. On the other hand, male students exhibit higher self-confidence in academic and achievement contexts, but they tend to suppress emotional expression due to the pressure of masculinity norms in society. Males are often taught not to show emotions, which affects how they manage their feelings in daily life and social interactions. This study reveals that gender differences influence how students build self-confidence and regulate emotions in the school environment. Female students are more open and adaptive in emotional regulation, while male students excel in academic self-confidence but tend to be more emotionally closed. These findings have important implications for the development of gender-sensitive counseling programs that address the emotional needs of students, aiming to create a school environment that supports the psychological development of all students in a balanced way, while providing space for healthy emotional expression for both genders.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of Regional Regulation Number 4 of 2021 in waste management in Tanjung Selamat Village, Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency, and to identify factors influencing the success and failure of the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principle in the area. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included Village Officials, Community Self-Help Groups (KSM), and residents of Tanjung Selamat Village. The collected data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of the 3R principle in Tanjung Selamat Village has not been running optimally and still faces various obstacles. The effectiveness of waste management through the 3R approach is hampered by low community participation, limited facilities and infrastructure, weak supervision and law enforcement, and uneven socialization. However, several factors support the successful implementation of the 3R principle, such as the existence of continuous socialization and education activities, active involvement between the village government and local communities, the provision of supporting facilities, and the implementation of recycling programs by community groups. This study recommends increasing community participation, strengthening inter-agency coordination, and expanding outreach to ensure more effective and sustainable implementation of the 3R principles at the village level.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the effectiveness of Arabic extracurricular activities, specifically muhadharah and muhadatsah, as well as the daily Arabic language program in improving maharah al-kalam of second-grade students of MTs Husnayain Salulebbo. Maharah al-kalam or the ability to speak Arabic is an important competency that needs to be developed at the secondary education level, especially in madrasahs. This study used a descriptive qualitative method to collect and analyze data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that muhadharah, muhadatsah, and the daily Arabic language program were effective in improving students' maharah al-kalam. Muhadharah activities were implemented through group formation, lecture text creation, and regular evaluations, which helped students develop their speaking skills. Meanwhile, muhadatsah activities were carried out through interactive dialogue, a communicative approach, and regular supervision that encouraged students to be more active in communicating in Arabic. The daily Arabic language program, which involved providing mufrodat (new vocabulary), adaptation to daily situations, and continuous evaluation, also proved effective. Supporting factors for the success of this activity include routine activities, sanctions for violators, and competitions that increase student motivation. However, there are several inhibiting factors, such as a lack of student interest and seriousness in participating in the activity, as well as external factors such as limited facilities and infrastructure, and bad weather that can disrupt the implementation of the activity. This study concludes that extracurricular Arabic language activities can effectively improve students' maharah al-kalam if supported by appropriate methods and strategies, and the presence of adequate supporting factors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, digital technology use, family support, and social media on consumer behavior of Bhinneka PGRI Tulungagung University students in the context of the digital economy. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 86 student respondents. The data analysis process involved a series of stages such as instrument validity and reliability testing, multiple linear regression analysis, classical assumption testing, t-test, f-test, and coefficient of determination (R²) analysis. The results showed that partially, three independent variables—digital technology use, family support, and social media—have a positive and significant influence on student purchasing decisions. Meanwhile, financial literacy did not show a statistically significant influence. However, when tested simultaneously, the four variables together have a significant influence on student consumer behavior in making purchasing decisions. Of these four factors, digital technology use is the most dominant variable in influencing student consumer behavior. This indicates that students are highly dependent on technology in carrying out consumption activities, from information search to transaction processing. Family support and the influence of social media also contribute to shaping preferences and purchasing decisions. Overall, student consumer behavior in the digital age is heavily influenced by social and technological factors. These findings highlight the importance of improving financial literacy among students, as well as the need for wise use of technology and social media to prevent excessive and uncontrolled consumer behavior.
