Abstract

Language is something that cannot be separated when socializing with others, and it adapts not only to the origin of language, but also to ethnic origin, social status and gender (Dor et al., 2014). This research will discuss the types and meanings of kandoushi in masculinity and femininity in the anime Kimi no na wa with the aim of explaining the types and meanings of kandoushi in anime. This study uses a qualitative method by using secondary data sources taken from the recording and listening techniques. This research uses theories taken from Iwabuchi and Terada Takanao. The data source used in this study is the dialogue and situation in the anime "Kimi no Na wa" (2016) with a total duration of 1 hour 45 minutes 35 seconds. The results obtained from this study are that kandoushi has four types, namely kandou, outou, yobikake and aisatsugo. Kandou expresses a feeling of surprise, outou reveals the answer, yobikake reveals the invitation, and Aisatsugo expresses a greeting.

Abstract

Some people, songs are a way to cheer up when they feel anxious and sad. However, there are also those who use songs as an expression of happiness. Lyrics in songs are basically created by songwriters to represent the current situation or events. Likewise in Japanese songs. In addition to representing this, songwriters in Japan often include natural elements in the lyrics of the songs they create, because for Japanese people, nature and its phenomena are representatives of God. Therefore, this study raises the form of personification that appears in songs related to nature, especially tsuki 'moon' and tori 'bird' in the lyrics of a Japanese female band called Kalafina. The aim is to describe the meaning of personification related to nature and the function of this personification. Qualitative methods with listening and recording techniques are tools for collecting data.Based on the results of data analysis on 4 song titles with 4 personifications, it can be seen that birds are a symbol for songwriters to think about the steps forward that someone wants to achieve, considering that birds will fly high and away. Meanwhile, the moon is a symbol to express someone's desire for beauty.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between the mastery of Bunpou III and the ability of Dokkai I in the 3rd semester students of the Japanese Language Education Study Program, State University of Jakarta. This research is based on the results of a student questionnaire which states that the Dokkai test item on N3 is the most difficult part to do because of the complex sentence patterns. 20 students participating in the Dokkai I course were sampled, because Dokkai I was a beginner step in preparing students to enter reading material at the N3 level. This study uses the correlational method with the final exam test as the instrument that has been validity tested by an Expert Judgment, as well as a questionnaire to determine response of the most influenced components of Dokkai I ability. The data collection technique uses the UAS value documentation. The conclusion of this study is that the correlation value of the Bunpou III mastery with the Dokkai I ability is -0.091 and included in the category of a weak correlation level. This is because the characteristics of reading according to experts are not only based on the ability to master grammar. The results of student responses indicate that the the most influenced components of Dokkai I ability are kanji by 45% and vocabulary by 45%.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using Mango (Manga Nihongo) on Japanese grammar learning outcomes. The background of this research is the difficulties faced by students in understanding sentence structure and verb changes in Japanese, as well as student boredom with learning media that are less varied during distance learning. This study used a preexperimental one group pretest and posttest method with 32 students of class XII-Language at SMA Negeri 110 Jakarta as samples. The instruments used were tests and questionnaires. Based on the results of data processing using the paired sample t-test formula, it was found that the Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000 with t_count of 12.30 at a significance level of 5% with t_table of 2.04. This shows that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The Normalized gain calculation results show a value of 0.66 which is in the medium category with a percentage of 66.14% which shows that Mango (Manga Nihongo) media is quite effective for improving Japanese grammar learning outcomes. This media provides a new learning experience using digital comics that can be accessed anytime and anywhere, so it can motivate students and improve learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the politeness of the language used by the presenters in the Shabekuri 007 based on the theory proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987), Ide (1982), and Mizutani-Mizutani (1987). In speech, there is possibility of a face threatening act by each party that can interfere the communication process, so that there are rules that limit the actions of speakers and partners as well as strategies taken to establish good communication. The data collected with a free-to-talk method and analyzed by pragmatics equivalent method. The research results are described descriptively. The results of this study are that from 106 utterances, it was found that there were six markers of politeness in Mizutani-Mizutani’s (1987), namely intonations, particles at the end of sentences, sentences that seem doubtful, aizuchi, politely Japanese usage, and conveying the intention of the desire indirectly. Based on Ide’s rules of politeness (1982) there are 71 utterances that ignore these rules and 35 utterances that fulfill these rules. The rules consist of being polite to people with higher position, greater power, and to older people. Brown and Levinson's (1987) politeness strategies used consist of negative politeness strategies, on-record strategies, positive politeness strategies, and off-record strategies.
