Abstract

Education plays a fundamental role in shaping character, developing personality, and exploring students' potential. Schools should ideally be safe, comfortable, and conducive spaces for student growth and development. However, reality shows that the school environment is still vulnerable to negative behaviors such as bullying and sexual violence. Bullying is understood as aggressive behavior carried out repeatedly with the aim of harming the victim, whether through physical, verbal, social, or online media (cyberbullying). Meanwhile, sexual violence includes various forms of sexual acts without the victim's consent, which have serious impacts on psychological, social, and academic achievement. Sexual violence in schools not only harms the victims physically but also leaves deep psychological scars that may affect their future. To respond to this problem, KKM Group 30 Bina Bangsa University conducted a socialization activity entitled "Stop Bullying and Sexual Violence" at SMAN X, District Y. The main objective of this activity was to provide in-depth understanding, build awareness, and encourage mutual respect in the school environment. The outreach was conducted through several methods, including presentations by resource persons, educational drama performances depicting real-life cases, and interactive question-and-answer sessions involving active student participation. Interactive sessions are essential to engage students and encourage them to express their thoughts openly. The results of the activities demonstrated high student enthusiasm, increased understanding of the forms and impacts of bullying and sexual violence, and a growing awareness to report victims or witnesses. These activities emphasized that prevention is not solely the responsibility of schools but also requires collaboration between students, teachers, parents, and the wider community. This creates a safe, comfortable learning environment free from all forms of violence.

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant health problem in rural areas, particularly due to the lack of father involvement in child care. The “Bapakku Hebat” program initiated by the Omben Health Center emerged as a breakthrough to strengthen the role of fathers in stunting prevention efforts through family health posts. This study adopted a qualitative descriptive approach to investigate the implementation, effects, and barriers of the program. The research findings indicated an increase in father involvement in health post activities, nutrition counseling, and child health monitoring. The program successfully reduced the prevalence of stunting risk by 10% in a year by increasing health post coverage and changing family behavior in providing nutrition. Key driving factors included inter-sectoral collaboration with village governments, health cadres, and farming communities that strengthened social networks and local resources. However, challenges remain, such as budget constraints, a lack of male cadres, and the influence of cultural norms that consider childcare as a woman’s responsibility. The “Bapakku Hebat” program shows that active father involvement can increase family awareness of the importance of fulfilling children’s nutrition. These findings emphasize the importance of gender-sensitive family health policies and cross-sectoral support to ensure the sustainability of the program. This research is expected to be a reference for other regions in implementing similar innovations to reduce the prevalence of stunting and improve the quality of child care. Furthermore, the success of the "My Great Father" program also demonstrates the importance of a community-based approach in public health interventions. The direct involvement of community leaders, religious leaders, and farmer groups in the program's outreach and implementation has proven effective in building a sense of ownership and increasing active community participation, particularly among fathers.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication is a crucial aspect of human life, both within the family and in the community, as it serves as a means of providing motivation, support, and positive guidance. One social issue of considerable concern is alcohol dependence among adolescents, which can negatively impact their physical, mental, and social development. This study was conducted to determine how interpersonal communication between parents and adolescents in Lalang Village, Rana Mese District, East Manggarai Regency, plays a role in reducing alcohol dependence. Furthermore, this study also examined the strategies parents use to overcome barriers to interpersonal communication in an effort to prevent alcohol consumption among adolescents. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of parents and adolescents in Lalang Village. Analysis was conducted by examining the communication patterns that occur, the obstacles encountered, and their impact on adolescent behavior related to alcohol consumption. The results of the study indicate that interpersonal communication between parents and adolescents in reducing alcohol dependence is still not optimal. This is evident in the lack of time spent together between parents and adolescents, the low response of adolescents to messages delivered face-to-face, and the lack of understanding on the negative impacts of alcohol on health on both parties. Cultural factors and limited knowledge also hinder the effectiveness of interpersonal communication. In conclusion, effective interpersonal communication is essential for educating and guiding adolescents to reduce alcohol consumption. Efforts should include improving parental communication skills, strengthening family interactions, and raising public awareness of the dangers of alcohol. Educators and community leaders also play a crucial role in supporting the education process and preventing alcohol dependence among adolescents.

Abstract

The Desa Bersinar (Drug Clean Village) program is a strategic initiative designed to prevent and eradicate drug abuse and illicit trafficking (P4GN) at the village level through the active involvement of both the village government and the community. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Desa Bersinar program in Pantai Cermin Kiri Village, Serdang Bedagai Regency, an area recognized as drug-prone due to its coastal geographical conditions and its vulnerability to illicit distribution routes. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, with data gathered through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the program coordinator, six implementing members, program beneficiaries, and two public informants. Additional data were obtained from documentation and relevant literature to provide a more comprehensive perspective. Data analysis was conducted through three stages: reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, ensuring systematic interpretation of findings. The results indicate that the Desa Bersinar program in Pantai Cermin Kiri Village has successfully implemented two of the three indicators outlined in David C. Korten’s theory of successful program implementation, specifically program elements and implementing organizational elements. These include clear structures of coordination, division of responsibilities, and collaboration among stakeholders. However, the third indicator—supportive environmental elements—has not been fully realized. Challenges include limited resources, lack of sustainable community participation, and insufficient external support from higher levels of government. Overall, the program demonstrates significant progress in combating drug-related issues, but its sustainability requires stronger environmental support, broader community empowerment, and multi-sectoral collaboration to ensure long-term effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication strategies implemented by the public relations department of the Surakarta Al-Qur'an Interpretation Council (MTA) in promoting MTA TV to the public. MTA TV, as a medium for preaching, plays an important role in spreading Islamic teachings in accordance with the Qur'an and Sunnah. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection through in-depth interviews, observation of social media, and documentation of promotional materials. The results show that the MTA Surakarta public relations department implements a communication strategy that includes five stages: research, planning, implementation, measurement, and reporting. In the research stage, MTA Surakarta's public relations conducts research to determine the preferences of the community. In the planning stage, MTA's public relations holds monthly meetings to plan da'wah programs. The implementation stage is carried out through various media, including radio, television, and social media, which are intensively promoted on digital platforms. In the measurement stage, MTA's public relations uses the “Halo Mediaku” program to receive feedback from the audience. The reporting stage involves the community in evaluating the quality of the broadcasts. This study shows that the communication strategy of MTA Surakarta's public relations has been implemented well, but it is recommended that audience research be further improved and interactive digital platforms such as live streaming be utilized to reach a wider audience

Abstract

Low-Income Communities (MBR) often live in Uninhabitable Houses (RTLH) due to financial constraints, which hinder their ability to improve their welfare and meet their basic living needs. The government is responsible for fulfilling the need for Decent Housing (RLH) for the community, which is realized through the Stimulant Assistance for Self-Help Housing (BSPS) program. The BSPS program aims to improve the quality of housing for the community through financial assistance and empowerment. This research was conducted in Belawan Bahari Village, Medan Belawan District, Medan City, which is a coastal area prone to tidal flooding. The main informants in this study were the Chairpersons of Assistance Recipient Groups I and II of the BSPS Program. Additional informants included the Head of Neighborhood Unit XII in Belawan Bahari Village. Key informants consisted of the Commitment Making Officer for Self-Help Housing and RUK, as well as Technical Experts from BSPS who are responsible for the activities and implementation of the BSPS program in Belawan Bahari. Data collection techniques were carried out through literature studies and field studies, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained in the field were then analyzed qualitatively by the researcher to draw conclusions from the research findings. The results indicated that the BSPS program in Belawan Bahari Village was effective in providing decent housing for aid recipients. This effectiveness was assessed based on program effectiveness indicators determined by Sutrisno, demonstrating success in terms of program understanding, targeting accuracy, timeliness of implementation, achievement of objectives, and tangible changes for aid recipients. Decent housing was evaluated based on building durability, adequacy of living space, access to safe drinking water, proper sanitation, as well as lighting and ventilation.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of toxic parenting on the mental health of late adolescents in Benda Baru, South Tangerang. The background of this research is rooted in the increasing number of adolescent mental health issues linked to unhealthy parenting practices, including excessive control, verbal abuse, physical violence, criticism, and neglect. The study aims to analyze the underlying causes of toxic parenting from the perspectives of adolescents, parents, and other family members, as well as to identify its psychological, social, and behavioral consequences. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving late adolescents aged 18–22, their parents, siblings, and key community informants. The findings indicate that toxic parenting often originates from intergenerational trauma, unresolved stress, and socio-cultural pressures, leading parents to adopt coercive and destructive parenting strategies. These practices contribute to significant mental health problems among adolescents, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficulties in social adaptation, and tendencies toward self-harm. The study underscores the importance of preventive efforts through parenting education, psychosocial support at the community level, and the development of youth-friendly mental health services. The implications suggest that multi-sector collaboration involving families, schools, community leaders, and local government is essential to create a supportive environment that can break the cycle of toxic parenting and promote adolescent well-being.

Abstract

This study explores the transformative role of youth empowerment through green economy initiatives, specifically focusing on the management of a waste bank in Kedungsekar Village, Indonesia. Facing mounting environmental challenges such as waste accumulation and pollution, the local community sought sustainable solutions by integrating environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The involvement of youth, characterized by creativity, digital skills, and strong social networks, has been pivotal in driving this transformation. The waste bank functions as a social innovation that not only addresses waste management issues but also generates economic opportunities through circular economy practices. By actively participating in waste segregation, collection, and sale, youth have acquired operational and financial skills, enabling them to become entrepreneurs and community leaders. This initiative has shifted youth from passive recipients to active agents of change, fostering community awareness and environmental responsibility. Employing qualitative case study methods, including interviews, observations, and document analysis, this research highlights how integrated efforts rooted in environmental sustainability and community participation can catalyze socio-economic growth. The theoretical framework draws on the concepts of green economy, youth empowerment, and social innovation, illustrating how these pillars are interconnected in fostering sustainable development. Findings reveal that the green economy approach, facilitated by youth engagement, enhances local resilience, creates employment, and promotes environmental conservation. This case exemplifies the potential of grassroots initiatives in achieving sustainable transformation at the village level, serving as a model for other rural communities facing similar environmental and socio-economic issues. The study underscores the importance of empowering youth as key drivers in the transition towards sustainable and inclusive development.

Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, has vast potential in marine resources; however, the welfare of poor fishing communities remains far from satisfactory due to various economic and social limitations. This study aims to analyze the economic and social needs of poor fishermen who face challenges such as low income, limited access to education and healthcare, and dependence on middlemen. The research was conducted in Paluh Sibaji Village, Pantai Labu Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency. The key informant was the Head of Paluh Sibaji Village, with three poor fishermen serving as main informants and fishermen’s families as additional informants. Data collection was carried out through literature review and field studies, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained in the field were then qualitatively analyzed until conclusions could be drawn. Based on the findings, the living conditions of poor fishermen in Paluh Sibaji Village reveal ongoing multidimensional economic and social needs. Referring to Sukirno’s (2005) theory of economic needs, it is evident that low per capita income, limited employment opportunities, unequal income distribution, and inadequate economic infrastructure persist. An analysis based on Abraham Maslow’s (1943) theory of social needs indicates that poor fishermen in Paluh Sibaji experience a sense of belonging and social bonds, love and affection, as well as social interactions within the community, although these remain limited and not yet optimal.
