Abstract

The reading skill is a fundamental component of the grade I curriculum, yet numerous students continue to grapple with competencies such as letter recognition, syllable formation, and basic reading comprehension. The objective of this study is to examine the factors that contribute to reading difficulties experienced by students in the first grade of elementary school. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach, which incorporates observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The findings indicate that the factors contributing to reading difficulties include insufficient early reading stimulation, unvaried learning methods, and the absence of parental involvement in their children's reading learning processes. Furthermore, the constraints imposed by learning media and the excess of students beyond the capacity of the classroom pose significant challenges for educators in delivering personalized attention to each student. The present study posits that collaborative endeavors among teachers, parents, and the school environment are imperative to equip students with the necessary skills to address reading difficulties from an early age.

Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia is currently very concerning. Education should pay attention to children's needs, not force something that makes children uncomfortable in seeking knowledge. A good education process is to provide opportunities for children to be creative. This must be done because basically children's thinking styles cannot be directed. In addition to the lack of creativity of educators in guiding students, a centralized curriculum makes the portrait of education increasingly blurry. The curriculum is only based on government knowledge without considering the needs of the community. Worse still, education is unable to produce creative graduates. Other causes of the low quality of education in Indonesia include problems of effectiveness, efficiency and standardization of teaching. This writing aims to describe the education system in Indonesia, describe the problems of education in Indonesia, and describe solutions that can be provided for problems of education in Indonesia. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The education system in Indonesia is very dynamic in adapting to the times. Currently, Indonesia uses the 2013 curriculum which emphasizes character education.

Abstract

Personnel administration is one of the important aspects of education management, especially in an effort to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the performance of educators (teachers) and education personnel (employees). Teachers and school employees are the main assets in carrying out the teaching and learning process and administrative services in the school environment. Therefore, the management of personnel administration, which includes workforce needs planning, recruitment, placement, coaching, performance appraisal, promotion, and dismissal, must be carried out systematically and continuously. Thus, it is important to continuously improve the quality of teacher and staff personnel administration through appropriate policies. The main objective is to ensure that every employee, both educative and non-educative, can work according to their abilities and responsibilities for the achievement of educational goals.

Abstract

The dichotomy of education in Indonesia, which separates the public school system and the madrasah, is rooted in the legacy of Dutch colonialism and other complex issues. This paper examines this fundamental problem, including its history, emerging issues, impacts, and proposed solutions. Etymologically, "dichotomy" means division into two parts, and in the context of education in Indonesia, it refers to the separation of Islamic religious education and general education. This separation affects administrative aspects, policies, quality, public perception, funding, and access to educational resources. This dichotomy has led to competency gaps, discrimination against graduates, and produced less responsible scientists and religious scholars who are less socially sensitive. Other impacts include a split system and inconsistency of policies, gaps in teacher funding and welfare, challenges in accepting new students, and social disparities. Although the government has attempted to address this dichotomy through various regulations and equalization, the dualism of the education system is still maintained, often leading to discrimination in teacher funding and welfare. To fundamentally address this problem, this paper suggests a holistic and integrated approach, including curriculum revision that combines general and religious knowledge, comprehensive teacher training, improvement of educational facilities, and awareness campaigns to change public perceptions.

Abstract

This paper aims to address the administration of teaching and learning activities, also commonly referred to as curriculum administration. This administrative field is actually the center of all activities in schools. Some parties disagree with the term curriculum administration. Abroad, it is called "administration of the instructional program." Indeed, curriculum administration is somewhat inaccurate, if the curriculum is interpreted in the narrow sense as "learning material" or "subject matter" that must be delivered to students. The curriculum is one of the most important aspects in determining the success of education. The curriculum is a system of learning programs to achieve institutional goals in educational institutions, so the curriculum plays a crucial role in realizing quality and high-quality schools. In order to realize good quality and high-quality education, the government continues to make changes and overhauls to the curriculum.
