Abstract

Education is a fundamental pillar for national development. However, Indonesia’s education system continues to face multiple complex challenges. This article examines key issues in Indonesian education, including disparities in access between urban and rural areas, low learning quality as reflected in PISA results, frequent curriculum changes, and inadequate teacher competence and welfare. Moreover, globalization and technological advancement bring new challenges, such as digital inequality, weak digital literacy, and rising student mental health problems. Economic, political, socio-cultural, technological, and human resource factors, as well as links with industry, also influence education outcomes. Empirical data reveal high dropout rates, low readiness in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, and high unemployment among vocational graduates. Several recommendations are proposed: ensuring equal access to education, improving curriculum quality, strengthening teacher competence and welfare, promoting inclusive digital transformation, reforming education governance, and reinforcing character education. Through comprehensive strategies, Indonesian education is expected to produce generations that are not only intellectually capable but also resilient, ethical, and globally competitive.

Therefore, it is crucial to continuously improve the quality of teacher and staff personnel administration through appropriate policies. The main goal is to ensure that every employee, both educational and non-educational, can work according to their abilities and responsibilities to achieve educational goals.

Abstract

Education must foster the nation's philosophical and cultural values holistically and comprehensively. Therefore, a more in-depth study of education is necessary. Educational institutions often experience problems with students. This is because teachers do not fully understand students' needs. Teachers often act carelessly during the learning process. Teachers often ignore evaluation results during learning. When this occurs, it can cause problems. In regional, national, and international forums, to perform well in international forums, teachers must understand the extent of students' abilities. Teachers need to understand the concepts and procedures for conducting learning evaluations so that student abilities can be detected and then followed up as needed. One way to conduct learning evaluations is through tests. There are many types of tests administered to determine student abilities. Teachers need to understand this so that when they administer tests, they can be targeted and tailored to needs. If this can be achieved, the learning process will undoubtedly develop and will influence the quality of students.

Abstract

The Qur’an is the holy book of Islam, revealed by Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a guide for the lives of Muslims. Today, many Islamic educational institutions have adopted Qur’an-based education. As the era of globalization becomes increasingly complex, Islamic education faces the challenge of remaining relevant. Education grounded in the values of the Qur’an serves as a crucial foundation for shaping students who are well-informed and possess strong moral character. The objective of this study is to conduct an in-depth discussion on the definitions of the Qur’an, surahs, and verses, as well as the significance of the Qur’an in Islamic education. This study employs a literature review method (library research) that relies on sources from books and articles in scientific journals related to the subject matter, analyzing data through the perspectives of experts, using a constructive approach and interpretation of the core content. The findings indicate that the Qur’an is of paramount importance in Islamic education, and Islamic education cannot function without its integration with the Qur’an. In addition to being a vast source of knowledge, the Qur’an also teaches learning methods that remain relevant today and guides the character development of students to become good individuals and devout Muslims.

Abstract

Education in Islam plays a very significant role in shaping individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and well-behaved. The guidance provided by female supervisors (musyrifah) at Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) serves as the foundation for strengthening the students’ religious commitment. If the support provided by female supervisors to female students is strong, the students’ religious character will improve. However, if the support from female supervisors is weak, the students’ religious character will decline. This article aims to detail the role of female supervisors in shaping, guiding, and enhancing the religious character of female students, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in this process, as applied at the Darus Darusy Syahadah Islamic Boarding School, Unit Kulliyatul Mualimat Littahfidzil Qur’an (KMT), Kedunglengkong, Simo, Boyolali. The method used in this study is a qualitative method that does not follow a specific systematic approach, where the data obtained is textual or in the form of words. The collected data is not numerical but comes from interview transcripts, observations, and other documents. The results of this study indicate that to enhance the religious character of female students, the female supervisors focus on guiding the students’ daily worship practices, such as the five daily prayers at the mosque, congregational tahajjud prayers, and voluntary fasting. Each female supervisor serves as a second parent, a mentor for the Quran memorization circles, a teacher, and a role model for the female students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the concept of character education from the perspective of the Qur’an and Hadith as the authoritative sources of Islamic teachings. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach and thematic analysis method (tafsir maudlu’i), this research identifies the character dimensions constructed by these two primary sources. The findings reveal that the Qur’an lays the philosophical foundation of character education through four main dimensions: the theological dimension (tawhid), the social-familial dimension (birrul walidain), the personal integrity dimension (enjoining good and forbidding evil), and the interpersonal dimension (adab and communicative ethics). Meanwhile, the Prophetic Hadith serves as a concrete operationalization model encompassing the values of truthfulness (sidq), trustworthiness (amanah), compassion (rahmah), and justice (’adl). The integration of both sources yields a holistic character education paradigm, balancing the vertical dimension (hablum minallah) and the horizontal dimension (hablum minannas). The relevance of this paradigm in the modern era is manifested through the methods of exemplary conduct (uswah hasanah), habituation, and moral vigilance (muraqabah), which are capable of addressing the challenges of moral degradation in digital society.

Abstract

This study aims to reconfigure the verification paradigm of scholars regarding fabricated hadith and its significance in navigating the digital information dissemination ecosystem. The existence of hadith fabrication has long manifested as an epistemological anomaly since the formative period of Islam, rooted in politico-sectarian fragmentation. Employing a qualitative approach with a historical-critical paradigm and content analysis, this research discourses on the instruments of al-jarh wa al-ta'dil and naqd al-matn constructed by classical scholars, alongside their adaptation by contemporary academics. Empirical findings confirm that the scholars' episteme transcends sanad verification, integrating textual rationality criticism (dirayah) and linguistic anomaly detection. Within the cybernetic context, the challenge metamorphoses into algorithmic dissemination virality on social media, which marginalizes the principle of tabayyun. In conclusion, the synthesis of classical methodology and digital-technological literacy is an absolute prerogative to safeguard the authority of the Prophetic Sunnah from ideological manipulation.

Abstract

Islamic boarding educational institutions play a strategic role in character development, strengthening Islamic identity, and improving students’ competencies. In the midst of increasingly complex social dynamics, curriculum implementation in Islamic educational institutions is required not only to integrate scientific and spiritual dimensions but also to respond to various public perceptions emerging in society. This article aims to analyze the implementation of educational curriculum at Ma’had Al Islam Gumuk Surakarta through a literature study approach by reviewing scholarly sources related to Islamic boarding education, Islamic curriculum, character formation, and public perceptions of Islamic educational institutions. The study reveals that curriculum implementation in Islamic boarding schools is generally constructed through the integration of religious education, moral development, Arabic language learning, mastery of Islamic sciences, and the cultivation of academic and spiritual culture. Furthermore, Islamic educational institutions often encounter challenges related to public perceptions influenced by social, political, and media factors. Therefore, curriculum implementation should be understood not merely as an academic process but also as an effort to foster moderation, character development, and public trust in Islamic educational institutions. This study contributes to the development of a more adaptive, integrative, and socially relevant Islamic educational curriculum.
