Abstract

This research is entitled "Representation of Marriage Norms in Sophie Aulia's Novel Azzamine: A Sociological Analysis of Alan Swingewood's Literature" which aims to describe the forms of representation of marriage norms contained in Sophie Aulia's novel Azzamine based on Alan Swingewood's sociological perspective of literature. The representation of marriage norms in this novel includes religious norms, social norms, the role of the family in marriage, and commitment and responsibility in domestic life. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a type of library research. This research produces descriptive data in the form of words, sentences, dialogues, narratives, and events contained in Sophie Aulia's novel Azzamine, which are then analyzed using Alan Swingewood's sociological theory of literature. The results of the study show that the novel Azzamine represents marriage norms as social and religious values which are reflected through the characters' attitudes in making religious teachings as a guideline for choosing a partner, maintaining social relationships, respecting family roles, and building commitment and responsibility in domestic life. Through a sociological approach to literature, this novel functions not only as a work of fiction but also as a reflection of social life, demonstrating that marriage is a bond built on religious values, social norms, family support, and a commitment to creating a harmonious, peaceful, loving, and compassionate family.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in utilizing the school library as a means of fostering a culture of Qur’anic reading at SMP Takhassus Al-Qur’an. The background of this research is based on the importance of developing a culture of reading the Qur’an as part of strengthening students’ religious character and optimizing the function of the library as a learning resource center that supports religious literacy activities. Islamic Religious Education teachers are not only responsible for delivering instructional materials but also for guiding, motivating, and habituating students to engage with the Qur’an continuously. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving Islamic Religious Education teachers, library staff, and students. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that Islamic Religious Education teachers play a significant role in fostering a culture of Qur’anic reading through various strategies that utilize the library as a learning resource. These roles are reflected in their functions as motivators, mentors, facilitators, and role models for students. Teachers motivate students by emphasizing the importance of reading the Qur’an based on Islamic teachings, particularly the command to read as stated in Surah Al-‘Alaq verses 1–5. Furthermore, teachers guide students in reading, understanding, and implementing the teachings of the Qur’an through routine learning activities and habituation programs. The utilization of the library is supported by the availability of Qur’anic collections, translated Qur’ans, tafsir books, and various Islamic literature that serve as references in the learning process. The strategies implemented by teachers include the daily practice of reading five verses of the Qur’an along with their translations and interpretations every morning, assigning tasks that require the use of library resources, integrating library activities into Islamic Religious Education lessons, and assisting students in understanding the meanings and messages of Qur’anic verses. Through these strategies, the library functions not merely as a repository of books but also as a center for Qur’anic literacy that supports both learning activities and the development of a reading culture within the school environment. The findings also indicate that a culture of reading the Qur’an has a positive impact on students’ character development. These impacts include increased religious awareness, discipline, responsibility, honesty, politeness, and self-control. In addition, the culture of Qur’anic reading enhances students’ understanding of Islamic teachings and encourages them to apply Qur’anic values in their daily lives. Therefore, the active role of Islamic Religious Education teachers, supported by the effective utilization of the school library, has proven to be instrumental in developing a sustainable culture of Qur’anic reading while simultaneously strengthening students’ character formation based on Islamic values.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the discrepancy between the high frequency of puzzle-playing activities and the low level of fine motor skills among children in Group B at RA Baitussalam, Bandung. This is evident from the children’s responses when assembling and disassembling puzzles; fundamentally, the children already possess the skills to move their fingers well. On the other hand, the children’s fine motor skills have not yet fully developed, as evidenced by their inability to draw lines according to a pattern, grasp objects, pick up objects, tear paper to size, and cut along a pattern. This study aims to determine: 1) puzzle-playing activities; 2) children’s fine motor skills; and 3) the relationship between puzzle-playing activities and the fine motor skills of early childhood students in Group B at RA Baitussalam in Bandung. There are many factors that influence the fine motor skills of young children, one of which is puzzle-playing activities. Playing with puzzles can train the flexibility of the fingers for tearing, cutting, pinching, and drawing lines, as well as hand-eye coordination. Based on this theoretical assumption, the following hypothesis can be formulated: the more children engage in puzzle-playing activities, the higher their fine motor skills will be. The research methodology employed a quantitative approach using a correlation method. The subjects of this study were 21 children in Group B at RA Baitussalam in Bandung. This study used a saturation sampling technique, meaning the entire population was included as the sample. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the data analysis show that puzzle-playing activities yielded an average score of 79, which is interpreted as “good.” Meanwhile, children’s fine motor skills yielded an average score of 80, which is interpreted as “very good.” Furthermore, the relationship between puzzle-playing activities and children’s fine motor skills yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.634. This correlation coefficient falls into the strong/high category, as it falls within the range of 0.600–0.799. The significance test yielded a calculated t-value of 3.573, which is greater than the critical t-value of 2.093. This means that H₀ (the null hypothesis) is rejected and H₁ (the alternative hypothesis) is accepted. In other words, puzzle-playing activities have a positive relationship with the fine motor skills of children in Group B at RA Baitussalam in Bandung. Furthermore, puzzle-playing activities contribute 40.19% to the fine motor skills of early childhood. Meanwhile, the remaining 59.81% of early childhood fine motor skills is influenced by other factors.

Abstract

The digital age has brought about radical changes in the way Generation Z—a hyperconnected generation—produces and consumes information. Behind this ease of access lie cyber-behavioural pathologies such as the impulsive spread of hoaxes, the loss of critical thinking, the rise of cancel culture, and a decline in digital empathy. This study aims to explain how the value of tabayyun in the Qur’an can be contextualised as a character education tool to transform the digital behaviour of Generation Z. This is a library research study employing a thematic exegetical (maudhu'i) approach and a psychological-pedagogical analysis. The research findings indicate that an epistemological analysis of Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 6, and Surah An-Nisa, verse 94, provides a protocol for verifying information that is relevant to the digital age. The contextualisation of the meanings of ‘the wicked’ and ‘news’ extends to social media algorithms, anonymous accounts, and manipulative online content. Strategies for instilling the value of tabayyun require the integration of formal and non-formal curricula through the method of exemplary behaviour (uswah), the cultivation of critical thinking, dialogic discussion, and synergy among the three pillars of education (family, school, and the digital community). The implementation of this concept has been shown to have a positive impact on cognitive-affective transformation, reducing reactive and impulsive behaviour, and fostering wise, courteous and responsible online behaviour.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology in the digital age has had a significant impact on the world of education, both in terms of learning and the character development of pupils. Easy access to a wide range of information is not always accompanied by the ability to filter out positive values, giving rise to various moral challenges such as a decline in ethics, discipline, honesty, responsibility and social awareness. Therefore, the implementation of educational values derived from the Qur’an has become a strategic endeavour in shaping the character of students who are faithful, possess noble moral character, and are capable of navigating the dynamics of digital life. This study aims to analyse the implementation of Qur’anic educational values in the character development of students in the digital age and to identify their relevance to contemporary Islamic educational practices. This study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data were obtained from the Qur’an, exegetical works, hadith, books on Islamic education, and academic articles relating to educational exegesis, character education, and the challenges of the digital age. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis by examining Qur’anic verses containing educational values, which were then interpreted in the context of contemporary education. The research findings indicate that the educational values of the Qur’an—such as faith (tauhid), honesty (ṣidq), trustworthiness, responsibility, discipline, patience, cooperation, compassion and self-control—play a vital role in shaping the character of learners. These values can be implemented through educators setting a good example, fostering positive behaviour, integrating them into the learning process, strengthening school culture, and utilising digital technology wisely and responsibly. Thus, education based on the values of the Qur’an serves as a solid foundation for creating a generation that is not only academically excellent but also possesses an Islamic character capable of facing the challenges of the digital age whilst remaining steadfast in the teachings of the Qur’an.

Abstract

Supervision is one of the key duties that must be carried out by leaders in educational institutions, including Islamic boarding schools. The aim of supervision is to monitor and evaluate the performance of teachers and educational support staff. Supervision provides constructive feedback and helps teachers and educational support staff to improve the quality of learning. Supervision in Islamic boarding schools is holistic in nature, combining the evaluation of academic ability with the assessment of moral character, sincerity and exemplary behaviour. Supervision does not merely assess cognitive understanding or teaching methodology but also evaluates the extent to which teachers and educational staff serve as role models for the students. The approach is based on exemplary behaviour and character. The academic sphere covers the following activities: drawing up annual and semester programmes; organising timetables; organising the development of lesson plans; determining promotion criteria; determining assessment criteria; organising learning evaluations; improving teaching practices; organising classroom activities in the absence of a teacher; and maintaining classroom discipline and order. Discussions may take place through face-to-face communication or group discussions. Economic empowerment models can be implemented in Islamic boarding schools by empowering the local community as complementary business partners. The da’wah (proselytising) aspect of Islamic boarding schools, as centres of change, serves as a driving force for promoting values of goodness within the community, whilst also fostering the development of competent preachers and religious counsellors. Thus, Islamic boarding schools serve not only as centres of education but also as centres for da’wah and community empowerment.

Abstract

The phenomenon of bullying in junior high schools (SMP) remains a serious concern due to the emotional distress and deep psychological wounds it inflicts on victims. This study aims to examine differences in forgiveness levels between student victims and non-victims of bullying at SMP X, Bekasi City. The method used was a quantitative approach with a comparative design, involving 98 students from grades 7, 8, and 9 selected through convenience sampling via a screening process, using the Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations Scale-18 (TRIM-18), which demonstrated adequate reliability (α = 0.785). The results showed p = 0.432 (p > 0.05), indicating no statistically significant difference in forgiveness levels between bullying victims and non-victims. Most students in both groups fell into the moderate forgiveness category, with comparable mean scores across groups. Future research is suggested to use a more structured bullying-status classification and examine other psychological factors influencing forgiveness levels.
