Abstract

End-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD) requiring hemodialysis is often complicated by anemia. Renal anemia in CKD-HD patients can affect quality of life and worsen prognosis. Anemia therapy involves erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs), iron supplements, and blood transfusions, but evaluation of their effectiveness at Dr. Loekmono Hadi Kudus Regional Hospital is still limited. This study aims to evaluate the anemia profile and the effectiveness of anemia therapy in PGK-HD patients at Dr. Loekmono Hadi Kudus Regional Hospital. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with purposive sampling technique in 93 CKD-HD patients with hemoglobin levels ≤ 10 g/dL. Data were collected through a review of electronic medical records and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Most CKD-HD patients had moderate (48%) and severe (43%) anemia. 90% of patients received ESA therapy, with 62% receiving PRBC transfusions and 47% combination therapy. Iron status analysis showed that many patients required supplemental iron therapy. Anemia in CKD-HD patients at Dr. Loekmono Hadi Kudus Regional Hospital requires more optimal management with routine monitoring of iron status. Further evaluation of ESA and iron therapy is needed to improve patient quality of life and prevent further complications.

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia accounts for approximately 75% of all anemia cases and can lead to complications such as fatigue, decreased cognitive function, preeclampsia, low birth weight, and preterm birth. Although the government has provided iron (Fe) tablets, compliance and nutritional adequacy remain major challenges. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the incidence of anemia among pregnant women at Baamang I Public Health Center in Sampit. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design involving 70 pregnant women selected through consecutive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and observations. Information on hemoglobin levels, anemia status, and Fe tablet consumption was obtained through interviews and medical records at a single point in time, consistent with the cross-sectional design. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (Chi-square test), and multivariate (logistic regression) analyses. Among the 70 respondents, 42.9% of pregnant women were diagnosed with anemia. Factors influencing anemia included Fe tablet consumption with a p-value < 0.05. Multivariate analysis revealed that compliance with Fe tablet consumption was the most dominant factor, with an odds ratio (OR) value of 0.000. Maternal age, nutritional status, and compliance with Fe tablet consumption significantly affect the incidence of anemia among pregnant women.

Abstract

Generation Alpha adolescents are growing up in a digital ecosystem, making them highly vulnerable to the psychological impacts of social media, including cyberbullying. This study aims to explore the relationship between age, gender, digital empathy, and knowledge of bullying among adolescents in Bungo Regency. Using a quantitative design, data were collected from 150 junior high school students in Pasar Bungo through random sampling. The research data was collected in the form of a survey and pre-test and post-test questionnaires were administered to 150 junior high school students, then the data were analyzed in the form of descriptive and bivariate analysis using a correlation test to determine the strength and direction of the correlation of each variable. showed that 60% of respondents had good knowledge about bullying, yet only 48.7% had high digital empathy. Bivariate analysis revealed a moderately strong correlation between age and both bullying knowledge (r = 0.450) and digital empathy (r = 0.652). Female students showed stronger empathy and understanding of bullying behavior than males. These findings highlight the need to strengthen empathy-based digital education as a preventive approach to cyberbullying and to improve adolescent mental health.

Abstract

Cancer treatment experienced by children and adolescents has a wide range of impacts, including nutritional status. Nutritional status changes the shape of children and adolescents with cancer. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between malnutrition and the physical appearance of children with cancer. The design of this study was cross-sectional, the sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with cancer children undergoing active treatment who were school-aged and adolescents. There are 47 respondents. Multiple regression is a statistical analysis in this study. Data were collected directly at the hospital after obtaining ethical approval and permission from the hospital and the patient's parents/guardians, using physical measurements (LLA) and questionnaires (SPPC), as well as demographic data. Predicted factors of physical appearance (R2 = 0.36, p = 0.00) were sex (β = -0.17, p = 0.27), age (β = 0.02, p = 0.48), cancer type (β = 0.24, p = 0.51), and nutritional status (β = 0.12, p = 0.00). Being female, older, having solid mass cancer, and having a higher body mass index will affect the physical appearance of a child with cancer. Children with cancer are particularly susceptible to nutritional problems, both undernourished and overnourished, which directly affect their physical appearance. These changes, such as hair loss, weight changes, and skin color, create significant psychological distress on children and adolescents, especially due to concerns about social acceptance. Studies show that good nutritional status is positively correlated with better physical appearance, underscoring the importance of comprehensive nutritional interventions as an essential part of childhood cancer care. Nutritional status is the most significant predictor of the physical appearance of children with cancer, where better nutrition is directly correlated with better physical appearance. Cancer is more common in boys and blood cancer is most common, physical changes due to treatment greatly affect psychological well-being, especially in adolescent girls who feel greater pressure related to body image.

Abstract

Autogenic Therapy (AT) is a relaxation technique widely used for stress and anxiety reduction, pain management, and psychological well-being. However, variations in its duration, frequency, and effectiveness across different populations remain unclear. Objective: This review aims to synthesize the available evidence on AT’s impact on psychological well-being and chronic pain management. A systematic review was conducted on studies evaluating AT interventions across different populations, including healthy individuals, cardiovascular patients, stroke survivors, cancer patients, individuals with chronic pain and type 2 diabetes, and those affected by crises. Data on intervention duration, session frequency, and health outcomes were extracted and analyzed. Findings indicate that AT interventions range from one week to several months, with session frequencies between two and five times per week. Short-term programs (1–4 weeks) are common in perioperative settings, while medium-term programs (6–12 weeks) are typically used for patients with cardiovascular, neurological, or diabetic conditions. Long-term interventions (≥12 weeks) are preferred for chronic pain and general anxiety. Higher session frequencies correlate with greater psychological and physiological benefits. AT is an effective intervention across diverse populations, but its efficacy is influenced by intervention length and session frequency. Tailored programs based on patient needs and conditions may enhance therapeutic outcomes. Future research should standardize protocols to optimize AT effectiveness.

Abstract

Personal hygiene care in post-laparotomy patients is very important to accelerate the healing process and prevent infection. Good hygiene is associated with a reduced risk of post-operative complications. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of personal hygiene on the recovery of post-laparotomy patients and the factors that influence it. This study utilized a Systematic Literature Review design, adhering to the PRISMA guidelines. The search for relevant articles was conducted across two primary scientific databases, SINTA and Scopus, covering the publication period from 2020 to 2025. The search strategy was formulated using a combination of keywords: "Infection Prevention," "Personal Hygiene," "Post-Laparotomy," and "Wound Healing." This initial search resulted in 860 articles. The selection process was carried out in two main stages: an initial screening to remove duplicates and irrelevant articles based on their titles and abstracts, followed by a full-text review of articles that met the predefined inclusion criteria. Consequently, articles that did not satisfy the exclusion criteria were removed from the review. Through this rigorous process, a total of 15 relevant articles were selected for in-depth analysis. The results showed that personal hygiene, including wound care and overall body hygiene, had a significant impact on wound healing and reducing post-operative infections. Family support and adequate education about personal hygiene also played an important role in the recovery of post-laparotomy patients.

Abstract

Speech delay is a developmental condition that affects children’s communication, learning, and family interactions. This condition not only impacts the cognitive and social development of affected children but also poses substantial challenges for families, particularly in caregiving, communication, and adaptation processes. This study aimed to conduct a systematic review to synthesize qualitative evidence on the roles, experiences, and challenges of parents in caring for children with speech and language delay. The review was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines. Relevant studies published between 2020 and 2025 were systematically searched in PubMed, Sage Journals, Science Direct, Scopus, Taylor and Francis databases using Boolean operators and specific keywords. The PEO framework (Population, Exposure, Outcome) guided study selection, focusing on qualitative research related to parents (such as parents, parental role, caregiving), speech delay (such as speech delay, language delay, communication disorder), and children (such as toddlers, early childhood, pediatric). The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research was used to assess methodological quality. Thematic synthesis revealed four overarching categories: (1) parental roles and responsibilities in providing daily stimulation, therapy practice, and advocacy; (2) challenges and burdens, including emotional stress, financial strain, and stigma; (3) coping and adaptation strategies through family support, spirituality, and personal resilience; and (4) interaction with social and service contexts, highlighting the importance of professional guidance and systemic accessibility. Parents play a central role in supporting children with speech delay, yet face significant emotional and practical challenges. Strengthening family centered care, enhancing professional parent collaboration, and reducing systemic barriers are essential.

Abstract

Inter-professional collaboration has a positive impact on patient outcomes and enhances job satisfaction. However, its implementation faces numerous challenges. To date, no literature review has systematically summarized the factors influencing nurses' participation in collaborative practice. This literature review aims to systematically summarize the factors affecting the implementation of inter-professional collaboration (IPC) among nurses. This scoping review adopts the PCC (Population, Content, Context) approach, where the population consists of nurses, the content focuses on inter-professional collaboration, and the context is hospital settings. Article searches were conducted in two databases, PubMed and Science Direct, covering the period from 2020 to 2025, using keywords: “inter-professional collaboration” AND “nurse” AND “hospital” AND “factor.” The search yielded 727 articles, with 15 included in the review.  Eligible full text articles underwent critical appraisal, followed by data extraction, including details such as author names, publication year, country, title, objectives, research methods, findings, and research gaps the supporting factors for IPC implementation by nurses include effective communication practices, enhanced collaborative competencies, and the implementation of inter-professional education. Conversely, the barriers to IPC implementation by nurses involve unclear role definitions, poor organizational management, weak leadership, as well as high stress and workload. These findings highlight the numerous challenges in IPC implementation among nurses. The development and implementation of policies that support IPC are crucial.
