Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of preparedness of some education students to become teachers, despite having taken education courses. This study aimed to analyze the influence of microteaching experience, familiarity with the school environment, and self-efficacy on the readiness to become professional teachers among Economics Education students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Sebelas Maret University in the 2019-2020 intake. The study used a quantitative approach with proportionate random sampling, resulting in 118 respondents. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that met validity and reliability tests, and then analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that microteaching experience, familiarity with the school environment, and self-efficacy each had a positive and significant effect on readiness to become professional teachers. Simultaneously, all three variables made significant contributions to explaining student readiness, with self-efficacy as the most dominant predictor. These findings confirm that the professional readiness of prospective teachers is not only shaped by practical academic experience but also by strengthening self-confidence as an internal psychological factor.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of brand image and the use of PayLater services on the consumptive behavior of students in the Economic Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Ronggolawe Tuban. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms to respondents. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results indicate that there is no significant relationship between students’ perceptions of brand image and their consumptive behavior. In contrast, the use of PayLater services has a positive and significant effect on students’ purchasing behavior. Furthermore, the use of PayLater also influences purchasing habits and students’ perceptions of brands. Overall, both variables contribute to explaining variations in students’ purchasing behavior. The findings also show that in making purchasing decisions, students tend to prioritize the ease of using PayLater services over their perceptions of brand image. Therefore, improving financial literacy is essential to help students manage their finances wisely and use PayLater services more responsibly.

Abstract

Students’ interest in participating in the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) represents a critical issue in the preparation of future educators, while studies examining the mediating role of motivation to become a teacher remain limited. This study aims to analyze the effects of perceptions of PPG, the School Field Introduction Program (PLP), and perceptions of teachers’ welfare on students’ interest in enrolling in PPG, with motivation to become a teacher serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, involving students of Economics Education at Universitas Negeri Semarang, and the data were analyzed using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS. The findings indicate that perceptions of PPG and motivation to become a teacher have positive effects on students’ interest in PPG, with motivation emerging as the most influential factor. Additionally, perceptions of teachers’ welfare exert an indirect effect through motivation, whereas PLP experience does not show a significant influence. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening positive perceptions of PPG and enhancing motivation to become a teacher in order to increase students’ interest in participating in the program.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the persistently low level of students’ critical thinking skills, reflected in passive information acceptance, superficial analysis, and limited willingness to express opinions during learning. These issues are presumed to be associated with suboptimal learning motivation and self-confidence. This research aims to examine the effect of learning motivation and self-confidence on the critical thinking skills of Economics Education students at Universitas Negeri Medan. A quantitative approach was employed using multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS. Data were collected through questionnaires from students selected via simple random sampling. The findings indicate that both learning motivation and self-confidence have a positive and significant effect on critical thinking skills, both individually and simultaneously. This suggests that students’ critical thinking ability is shaped by the combined influence of these two factors. Therefore, fostering a learning environment that enhances motivation and builds self-confidence is essential to optimize students’ critical thinking development.
