Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the effect of using the Project Based Learning model on students' ability to write narrative text. This research method is quantitative and experimental research with a pre-test post-test control group design. The population in this study were students of class X of SMA Negeri 4 Tanjung Balai. The sample for this research consisted of 72 students taken by random sampling. The learning activities of students who are taught using a Project Based Learning model are better than students who are taught not using a Project Based Learning model the experimental class there was an average result of 86.86, while in the control class there was an average percentage of 67.42. From the results of hypothesis testing using the t test, the tᶵ value was 2.042. So it can be concluded that tʱ > tᶵ (9.894 > 2.042). So it can be stated that there is a significant difference in the increase in learning outcome scores in the experimental group and the control group. Thus, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning there is the effect of Project Based Learning model on students' ability in writing narative text at grade X SMA Negeri 4 Tanjung Balai in 2024/2025 Academic Year.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine whether Game-Based Learning (GBL) can effectively improve students”ability in reading narrative texts. The population of  the study consisted of 265 Grade XI students, with a sample of 45 students from SMK-S Amir Hamzah in the 2024/2025 academic year. A quantitative research method was employed, and data were collected through an essay test. The results showed that the mean pre-test score was 57.60 for the experimental group and 54.25 for the control group. The implementation of Game-Based Learning proved effective in enhancing students‟ reading skills. Data were analyzed using the t-test formula. The analysis revealed that the t-score (3,99 > 2,016) significance level with 43 degrees of freedom. This indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of group discussion on the ability to write recount texts of class XI students of MAS Daarul Falah in the 2024/2025 academic year. The method used is a quantitative approach with an experimental design, involving two groups of students, namely the experimental group taught using the group discussion method and the control group taught using the conventional method. Data collection was carried out through writing tests conducted before and after treatment. Data were analyzed using the t-test formula. The results of the analysis showed that the t-count value was greater than the t-table value. In this study, the calculation of the freedom score used the t-test for (df) 55 at a significance level of 0.05 where the critical T-value was -1.68. The results of the t-test calculation show that the t-count value is higher than the t-table value or it can be seen that the t-count value > t-table (0.05) with df 52 or 3.35 > 1.57 (0.05) with df 52. So, this study was successful, Ha was accepted and it was revealed that the influence of Group Discussion in Writing Recount Texts was effective. This study concludes that the application of the group discussion method can improve students' abilities in writing recount texts, encouraging interaction and collaboration between them. Therefore, it is recommended for teachers to integrate this method in teaching writing to increase student involvement and motivation in learning.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the Discovery Learning Model can effectively influence students' skills in writing descriptive texts. The population of this research is class X students of Petatal National Private High School for the 2024/2025 academic year. This research uses quantitative methods. Data collection techniques are carried out through writing tests. The results showed that the average pre-test score for the control group was 42.2, while for the experimental group it was 53.4. Furthermore, the average post-test score for the control group was 71.2 and for the experimental group was 80.3. Implementation of the Discovery Learning Model has proven to be effective in improving students' writing skills. Data were analyzed using the t-test formula. The analysis results show that the t score is higher than the t-table (7.89 > 1.699) at a significance level of 0.05 with 64 degrees of freedom. This means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the project-based learning model on the ability of grade XII students to write application letters. Utilizing a quantitative research approach, it employs a Quasi-Experimental method. The research population consists of 115 grade XII students at SMK Negeri 1 Sei Kepayang, from which 40 students were randomly selected. Among them, 21 were assigned to the experimental group, while 19 formed the control group. Data collection was carried out through tests, including pre-tests and post-tests, where students were tasked with writing application letters. The analysis involved validating the test instruments, assessing their reliability, and conducting a t-test to compare the results. The findings revealed a significant improvement in the writing skills of students taught using the project-based learning model compared to those who received conventional instruction. The t-test results indicated that the t-count value was 5.54, surpassing the t-table value of 2.03 at a degree of freedom (df) of 38. Based on hypothesis testing criteria, where t-count > t-table, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected, confirming the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ). These results demonstrate that the project-based learning model has a substantial positive effect on students' ability to write application letters compared to traditional teaching methods. This research highlights the effectiveness of project-based learning in enhancing students' writing skills, particularly for grade XII students at SMK Negeri 1 Sei Kepayang during the 2024/2025 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ ability to write descriptive texts. The research employed a quantitative approach and was conducted at SMA Swasta Daerah Sei Bejangkar with a focus on Grade X students. The study used an experimental design. The population consisted of all Grade X students at the school, and the sample included 19 students in the experimental group (Class X-2) and 21 students in the control group (Class X-1). The primary instrument for data collection was a writing test. The data were analyzed using the t-test formula. The results revealed that the mean score of the experimental group was 80.5, while the control group had an average score of 71.9. The t-test analysis showed that the calculated t-score (tₒ = 3.6) was greater than the critical t-value (tₜ = 2.03) at a 0.05 significance level. This indicates a significant difference in writing performance between the two groups. The findings suggest that the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant positive effect on students' descriptive writing skills. In conclusion, the PBL strategy is more effective than conventional teaching methods for enhancing writing skills.

Abstract

This research investigates the effect of the Discovery Learning Model on reading comprehension in class XI SMAS Al Ma'shum Sidodadi in the 2024/20245 academic year. This research uses a quantitative approach with a pre-test and post-test experimental design that focuses on students in classes XI-2 and XI-3, who were selected through random sampling. Reading comprehension abilities are assessed through pre-test and post-test evaluations to measure the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model in improving reading comprehension, especially in narrative texts. The results showed a significant increase in reading comprehension after implementing the Discovery Learning Model, with an average score increase of 29.1% from pre-test to post-test in one group and an increase of 39.2 in the other group. Statistical analysis using the t test formula shows significant improvement, as evidenced by the t value which exceeds the critical value at the significance level of 0.05. These findings support the effectiveness of the discovery learning model in improving reading comprehension in narrative texts. The calculation of the scores by using t-test for the degree of freedom (df) 63 at significance level 0.05 where the t-critical value is 1.668. The result of the analysis showed that the t-score was higher than t-table 16.25 > 1.669 at the level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 63. It means that Ha is accepted.
