Abstract

The implementation of 2013 curriculum results in a number of consequences in teachers’ negative conceptions of the peer-assessment implementation in the classroom. This current study aimed at revealing English teachers’ perspectives of peer-assessment as an assessment method in assessing students’ affective aspects. A survey research was conducted in the study which deployed questionnaires with 30 statements. 30 English teachers who applied 2013 Curriculum in their teaching and learning process participated in this study and the results exposed that most of these English teachers perceive positively the implementation of peer-assessment regarding its relation with character education and students’ attitude towards peer assessment. However, the application of peer-assessment for assessing students’ affective aspect still needs to be improved since the fairness of peer-assessment application is still questionable by the teachers. Therefore, further development of peer-assessment is required in order to promote its positive aspects.

Abstract

This research aimed at improving mathematical literacy among vocational high school students. The subject was students in class X. This qualitative research used tests, observation sheets, questionnaires, and interviews. The result shows that there was a limitation in our brain to process complex contents. Therefore, according to cognitive load theory, in the studying process, the teacher should minimize intrinsic cognitive load and stimulate germane cognitive theory, thus improving students' literacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain a learning tool of curved side room learning materials based problem-solving ability and local cultural wisdom for students of class IX Junior High School in Merauke City that meet valid, effective, and practical criteria. This type of research is development research with 4D model design (Define, Designed, Develop, Disseminate). The subjects of the study were the students of class IX of SMP Negeri 9 Merauke. The resulting learning tools were tested and experimented using the posttest only control group design. The result of this research is obtained learning tools of curved side room learning-based problem-solving ability and local cultural wisdom that fulfill valid, practical, and effective criteria. Learning tools produced are student books, Student Activity Sheets (LKS), and Lesson Plans (RPP). The results of the device test show the students' mathematics problem-solving ability is better than the control class with an average score of 61.81 versus 52.57. Hypothesis testing using independent sample t-test shows Ho is rejected with the t count value of 3.049 which means that problem-solving ability using local culture learning tools is better using conventional learning devices.

Abstract

Abstract This research aimed at describing the profile of students’ learning achievement based on the implementation of 2013 Curriculum. This research was a qualitative descriptive research using phenomenological approach. The total subjects of this research were 15 teachers including five elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school, respectively. Questionnaire, document, and interview techniques were used to collect all data. Descriptive interpretive technique was used to analyse all data. The research results revealed that the description of the profiles of students’ learning achievement are viewed from nine evaluation aspects, namely: domain of learning achievement, evaluator, assessment tools, the form of test, the form of non test, the form of report, the scale used, the period of assessment, and the techniques of assessment. In evaluating students’ learning achievement, teacher faces problems related to the number of evaluation elements, the complexity of evaluation, instrument formulation, assessment frequency, and reporting assessment results. Based on this finding, it is suggested that the evaluation of students’ learning achievement should be simplified and still fulfilling the principle of assessment, such as comprehensive, objective, transparent, and accountable. Keywords: assessment, learning echievement, and 2013 curriculum.
