Abstract

Geography teacher candidates need to build a pro-environmental attitude to solve critical land issues through the construction of appropriate research-based solutions. This study aimed to determine the effect of research-based learning conservation on the pro-environmental attitudes of geography teacher candidates toward the preservation of Meru Betiri National Park. The study applied an experimental research design with one group pre-test and post-test. Students of the Department of Geography Education in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, at the University of Jember were selected as research subjects using purposive sampling. A total of 41 students currently enrolled in environmental geography courses took part in this study. The data on pro-environmental attitudes were collected using a 21-item Likert survey with scales: 1 (strongly disagree), 2 (disagree), 3 (agree), and 4 (strongly agree). The data were tested for normality and homogeneity using a t-test. The results implementation of conservation-based learning had a significant effect on the students’ pro-environmental attitudes on critical land in Meru Betiri National Park (p 0.000). Research-based learning has an impact on student’s scientific abilities and actions. Future research on conservation-based learning for sustainable conservation programs is recommended to involve forest farmers combine ecological and economic aspects of degraded lands.

Abstract

The selection of a learning model is very crucial before the teacher carries out learning activities. Inquiry is a learning model that has existed for a long time and is recommended for use in learning activities. This study aims to map the results of studies related to inquiry learning in elementary schools. Bibliometrics is used as a method to map previous research. Data was obtained through the Scopus website from 2018–2022, and 143 datasets were obtained. Data analysis uses VosViewer software, which maps the data. The results revealed that the two authors have the highest total strength among the other documents. Meanwhile, based on sources, the International Journal of Science Education is the source with the highest link strength, and the Journal of Instruction is the source that is most widely cited. The Netherlands is the country with the highest number of connections, with 19 documents. Based on the author's curriculum keywords, reading dialogue, science education, and primary education are the most used keywords in 2021. Meanwhile, "narrative inquiry," "science teaching," and "professional teaching" are the least used keywords. The conclusion of this research is that inquiry is still one of the choices used in learning activities.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a mobile game using the QuizWhizzer application to improve fifth graders’ learning interest in mathematics at Kalibata 04 Elementary School, South Jakarta, Indonesia. The contribution of this study is to enhance the interest in mathematics learning for students in all elementary schools in South Jakarta, Indonesia. This research used the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) model to develop the product as a systematic approach to instructional development. The experimental design, which helps collect data needed for better decision-making, was utilized for the effectiveness test for fifth graders at Kalibata 04 Elementary School, Jakarta, Indonesia. The results showed that sig (2-tailed) reached 0.000, less than 0.05, meaning there was a significant difference between schooling results in the pretest and posttest data. The N-Gain score obtained in this study was 0.49, so the media developed in this research is compelling enough to increase learning interest in mathematics for fifth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

The selection process of a coaching model should be an initial consideration before conducting training activities. However, the limited availability of coaching models hinders the delivery of quality training programs. Therefore, it is necessary to have options for coaching models. This research aims to develop a goal, actual, alternative, plan, action, monitoring, and reflection based on blended learning (GAARANTUNG) a coaching model rooted in goal, reality, option, will (GROW) with the addition of action, monitoring, and reflection elements based on blended learning. The development of this coaching model is conducted by adopting the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) research and development concept, which involves three main steps: analysis, design, and development. The results of this research include the availability of a coaching model that meets the needs, including the incorporation of technological elements within GAARANTUNG. The GAARANTUNG coaching model is the improved version of the GROW coaching model, which only focuses on action planning, and the goal, reality, option, will-monitoring, evaluation (GROW-ME) coaching model, which lacks a description of coaching during action and does not include digital technology elements. The refinement of the syntax in GROW and GROW-ME to form GAARANTUNG is a crucial step in providing a coaching model that aligns with the needs and facilitates the implementation of training programs, specifically targeting the main needs of participants, including teachers and school principals.

Abstract

Teacher empowerment has been recognized as an imperative management practice to develop and implement innovations in schools. However, studies investigating the relationship between teacher empowerment and the innovation climate are scant, inhibiting the development of effective strategies to foster educational innovation. This study examines the impact of teacher empowerment on schools’ innovation climate in Malaysia. The sample consisted of 376 teachers who were randomly selected from 12 primary and secondary schools in Kuala Terengganu. Structural equation modeling analysis revealed a strong positive effect of teacher empowerment on innovation climate, wherein teacher empowerment predicted 50% of the variability in the innovation climate. Findings of this study suggest that school leaders should invest in empowering teachers through programs that value their perspectives and actively encourage contributions to foster an innovation climate.

Abstract

This study aims to explore mystical ritual learning methods to obtain mystical ijazah in Pesantren Salafiyah (Islamic Boarding Schools). The certificate of mysticism is a gift from the Kiai to the students. The Pesantren Salafiyah, known for its traditional approach to Islamic education, offers this unique learning experience to its students. This study examines the ritualistic aspects of obtaining a mystical diploma in the Salafi Islamic Boarding School. This study investigates the methods, practices, and teachings used by the Kiai and ustad to facilitate the spiritual growth and development of the students. Through qualitative research methods such as participant observation, interviews, and document analysis, this research explores traditions, ceremonies, and rituals integral to the learning process. The results revealed the importance of habits in enhancing the spiritual experience of students and building a solid connection with mystical teachings. Rituals include various elements, including reading sacred texts, meditation, physical exercise, and symbolic movements. In addition, the research findings explore the implications of ritual learning methods for mystical diplomas in Salafi Islamic Boarding Schools. It highlights a unique pedagogical approach by combining traditional Islamic education with esoteric teachings, encouraging a holistic understanding of spirituality. The study also discusses the challenges and opportunities contemporary Islamic educational institutions face in preserving and adapting ritual learning methods in a modern context

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of learning motivation based on environmental conditions, desire to work, and main desires. To achieve this, a quantitative research design was used, and a total of 500 students (101 boys and 399 girls) in Indonesia were selected as respondents using proportional random sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using a learning motivation scale questionnaire. The results showed that students had a high level of motivation, with an average score of 50.8. The desire to work can be seen from hopes and dreams, as well as a conducive environment. It is known that external factors such as encouragement from others and involvement in activities have a greater influence with significance scores of 0.801 and 0.766 respectively. Meanwhile, appreciation and hopes or aspirations each received a score of 0.709 and 0.704. This implies that encouragement and activity can be integrated into the student's self. The research also shows that gender does not have a significant effect on the desire to learn. However, providing appropriate encouragement and rewards will increase students' willingness to learn, which can be maintained by educational institutions and parents and instill a desire for personal progress and development.

Abstract

A teacher competency instrument was developed to determine the level of teacher competency in small schools in Peninsular Malaysia. This study was conducted in Perak and Negeri Sembilan to determine the instrument's reliability and validity. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and item reliability analysis were used to determine the questionnaire's reliability and validity. Next, the average congruence percentage (ACP) is used to determine the reliability test between expert assessors. Experts approved the validity and reliability of the instrument before the EFA test was conducted. All four constructs have high-reliability index values between 0.82–0.92. Next, the EFA analysis shows four dimensions in the teacher competency instrument with factor loadings (FL) ranging from 0.60–0.88. The findings also show that the variance explained in the data is 58.46% with an Eigenvalue greater than 1. This result indicates that all items were received with high approval. In addition, a very high-reliability coefficient value, α=0.82. The results prove that this teacher competency instrument has high validity and reliability and can measure the level of teacher competency implementation practices in small schools in Peninsular Malaysia.

Abstract

It is important for prospective elementary school teachers to know their epistemic beliefs because this is related to beliefs about how to teach in schools and how learning should be done, which are called pedagogical beliefs. This study aims to investigate whether epistemic beliefs can predict the pedagogical beliefs of prospective elementary school students. This research method used a quantitative method with 179 elementary school teacher education students as research subjects. The data obtained were analyzed using a linear regression test. The results of this study indicate that students' epistemic beliefs can predict students' pedagogical beliefs, especially in terms of social studies learning concepts in elementary schools.

Abstract

This literature review examines how mathematics education uses the Technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge (TPACK). This study examines how TPACK affects mathematics classroom instruction, student engagement, and learning outcomes. A detailed examination and synthesis of pertinent publications over the last decade will accomplish this. The study illuminates significant topics, including digital technology utilization, teacher professional development program enhancement, and TPACK acceptability. It also highlights long-standing issues such as limited technology budgets, teacher training issues, and the need for ongoing support. This post provides current ideas and a full literature review to assist us in understanding TPACK. The findings impact educational policymakers, teacher professional development programs, and math teachers. The paper then advises future research. One is a longitudinal study of different educational environments to determine long-term effects on teaching and student growth. Policymakers, educators, and academics can utilize this study review to advocate for acceptable technology usage in mathematics education.
