Abstract

Abstract This study addresses the challenge of disengagement in national identity education among vocational students by developing an innovative teaching supplement combining documentary film analysis and narrative essay writing. Centered on the documentary Hula Keta: Bukan Maluku Tanpa Sagu, which explores Tidore’s sago culinary traditions and communal values, the research bridges local cultural heritage with Pancasila principles to strengthen students' national identity. Using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the researchers created a coffee table book integrating film excerpts, reflective essays, and project-based activities aligned with Civics Education competencies. Material and media expert validation confirmed the product’s high feasibility, with 60% of indicators rated “highly feasible” and Cronbach’s Alpha reliability of 0.962. Implementation involving 36 culinary students at SMK Negeri 3 Malang revealed statistically significant learning outcome improvements, with mean scores rising from 51.67 (pre-test) to 89.31 (post-test) (*p* = 0.004). The intervention’s success stemmed from vocational contextualization, anchoring abstract concepts like environmental stewardship and national unity in relatable gastronomic heritage. Qualitative analysis of reflective essays demonstrated enhanced critical thinking, with students connecting Tidore’s gotong royong practices to broader civic responsibilities. By transforming passive learning into active cultural preservation through visual storytelling and place-based pedagogy, the narrative essay fostered pride in Indonesia’s diversity as a national asset. This research contributes to educational innovation by demonstrating how multimedia tools rooted in local wisdom can revitalize civic education, particularly in vocational settings where traditional didactic methods often fail. The findings emphasize the urgency of culturally responsive curricula in nurturing socially conscious citizens, offering a replicable model for integrating regional narratives into national identity frameworks across Indonesia’s multicultural landscape.

Abstract

This study examines strategies for preserving traditional wastra as a learning medium. The strategy used is the “MERITA” strategy, which consists of local content, evaluation, reaction, and integration of augmented reality (AR). This study was conducted at SMAN 1 Kota Malang with the research subjects being 10th grade students. The research method used was a qualitative approach with sources from primary and secondary sources. Primary source were obtained through interviews with students, educational media developers, and educational facilitators. Secondary sources were obtained from journals and online articels related to the topic. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman model, which includes the stages of data collection, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was checked through source triangulation. The research findings were as follow : first, there has been ongoing development over time regarding Wastra Nusantara, which continues to exist to this day; second, the implementation of the “MERITA” strategy in the use of Wastra educational media actively involves students in the learning process. The “MERITA” strategy is not only a learning strategy but also one of the strategies used to provide students with direct learning and practical experiences, incorporating the integration of cutting-edge technology such as augmented reality. Third, wastra media can foster social and cultural resilience through active preservation and emotional connection among students. The success of the “MERITA” strategy research on the formation of socio-cultural resilience was proven by a knowledge test on traditional wastra , namely a pre-test and post-test, with an average pre-test score of 49.55 and an average post-test score of 78.97. There was an increase in students scores after undergoing Pancasila and Citizenship Education using the “MERITA” learning strategy, which incorporates local wisdom from traditional wastra.

Abstract

The younger generation is increasingly drawn into modern culture, which often contradicts the noble values of the nation. This has resulted in a diminishing appreciation for traditions, customs, and social norms passed down by ancestors. Therefore, the aim of this research is to uncover the values of Pancasila in the Mangure Lawik tradition as an effort to preserve local wisdom in the city of Sibolga. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection employs primary data through interviews, observations, and documentation, as well as secondary data from books, journals, and relevant sources. Data analysis is performed using Miles and Huberman's analysis method, which includes data reduction, data display, and data verification. The results show that the Mangure Lawik tradition in Sibolga reflects the values of Pancasila, particularly in terms of togetherness and reverence for God. This ritual is performed as a form of gratitude to God for the harvest from the sea and a prayer for the safety of the fishermen. The tradition also demonstrates the values of solidarity and mutual cooperation. Furthermore, Mangure Lawik embodies the value of Indonesian unity, with active participation from all layers of society in this festival. This tradition also reflects the value of social justice, where the entire coastal community is involved in cultural activities and environmental preservation, strengthening unity and national identity. Today, the tradition continues to guide the community’s Pancasila-based lifestyle, shaping policies and youth participation in preserving both culture and nature.

Abstract

This study comprehensively discusses Abdul Wahab Chasbullah's political thought and his contribution to the national movement and the development of the concept of statehood in Indonesia. Abdul Wahab Chasbullah is one of the most important figures in the intellectual history of Islam in Indonesia, particularly through his central role in the establishment of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the largest Islamic organization that continues to play a strategic role in the religious, social, and political life of the nation. His ideas on the relationship between religion and the state are based on moderate, open, and contextual Islamic principles, which are capable of addressing contemporary challenges without losing their fundamental values. Using a qualitative approach and literature review methods, this study examines various primary and secondary sources, including biographical books, works of thought by prominent figures, scientific journal articles, historical archive documents, and contemporary writings. This approach allows for an in-depth exploration of the dynamics of Abdul Wahab Chasbullah's thinking and how his ideas made a real contribution to the struggle for Indonesian independence and the formation of an inclusive national framework. His thoughts were not limited to religious discourse, but also included visionary socio-political strategies in fighting for independence and building a state system that respected plurality. The results of the research show that Abdul Wahab Chasbullah was a cleric who was not only fluent in religious knowledge, but also very sensitive to the socio-political developments of his time. His moderate and adaptive political views enabled him to build bridges between Islamic tradition and the growing spirit of nationalism during the colonial period. Through NU, he made Islam a moral force that helped drive the struggle for independence. He was active in various national organizations and used the media as a means of intellectual and political struggle. Thus, Abdul Wahab Chasbullah's political thought is not only an important historical legacy but also relevant as a reference for formulating policies and the direction of national development today. His inclusive attitude and contextual understanding of Islamic values serve as an important example for future generations in building a democratic, just, and culturally rooted nation.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the structure of the musical arrangement of the song "Suno Lowalangi" by Brian Harefa. Suno Lowalangi means Praise the Lord, which is one of the songs in the ZinunÖ Book (songs of praise), BNKP No. 69, and is used in BNKP congregational worship using a single organ accompaniment, tempo 99-104 (moderato). Suno Lowalangi, meaning "praise God," is a song whose melody is adopted from the song "From the Islands and Continents" with translation into the Nias language (li niha). In 2013, Brian Harefa, an artist from Nias, composed the song "Suno Lowalangi" into a jazz music concept accompanied by piano, bass guitar, and drums. The musical arrangement of the song "Suno Lowalangi" by Brian Harefa makes the song a contemporary musical work that comes from the musical concept as in the Zinuno Book. This research was carried out using descriptive-analytical qualitative research methods through a transcription analysis study approach, namely an activity of changing sound (audio) signals into notational form, which is then analyzed using theories of musical structure analysis. The song "Suno Lowalangi" is one of the song titles in the Zinunö Book (hymns) used in congregational worship at the Banua Niha Keriso Protestant (BNKP) church. This song is recorded in the Zinunő Book No. 069, which is included in the theme fa'atumbu yesu (the birth of Jesus Christ), so this song is generally sung in almost every Christmas celebration service. "Suno Lowalangi," which means "praise the Lord," is a translation of the song "From the Island and the Continent," which is also a Christmas-themed song. Suno Lowalangi adopts some of the lyrics and melody that are exactly the same as the song "From the Island and the Continent," only the lyrics are translated into the Nias language (li niha). The process of translating the lyrics into the Nias language was carried out so that it could be easily accepted by the Nias people as the majority of the BNKP church congregation members. The song Suno Lowalangi has been adopted into the Zinunö Book since 2014. The song "Suno Lowalangi" has a diatonic scale and is sung with a tempo of 94-104 (moderato) with a single organ accompaniment. In 2013, Brian Harefa gave a new color to the musicality of the song "Suno Lowalangi" in a form that was slightly different from the presentation of the song at the BNKP congregation's worship. The use of improvisation and syncopation in the chords and melody made the song "Suno Lowalangi" come out of its musical concept as a hymn in church worship, becoming a jazz genre song with a more modern musical concept. Some of the instruments used to accompany the song are piano, bass, and drums.

The author will also discuss the phenomenon of student movement escalation using a class perspective (Karl Marx). In the process of preparing this article, the author used the literature study research method (library research). Desk research limits research activities to library collections without the need for field research. There are several findings from the process of unraveling the direction and results achieved by the student movement in the post-1998 Reformation period that the author found including; the phenomenon of bourgeois activism, the failure of efforts to elaborate the structural basis by movement actors, the urgency to translate an empowered and sovereign student movement, to the need to form an organic movement node by involving cross-sectors to achieve a people's movement that is not exclusive. Through the following contribution, the author hopes that today's students will no longer lose their identity as academic elites as well as social control and value guardians.
