Abstract

Final-year students at Teuku Umar University often experience stress while writing their thesis. This study examined the relationship between psychological well-being (PWB) and academic stress using a cross-sectional design. A total of 93 students from six faculties participated. PWB was measured with the Ryff Psychological Well-Being scale, and academic stress was assessed using the DASS-42 stress subscale. Results showed that 57% of students had high PWB, especially in personal growth, while 57% experienced moderate stress and 13% reported severe stress. On average, PWB scores were 78.7 ± 7.8 and stress scores were 33.9 ± 7.5. Students with higher PWB generally had lower stress, but some still felt pressured due to deadlines, workload, or family responsibilities. Support from supervisors, friends, and family helped, along with personal coping strategies like time management and short breaks. Overall, strong PWB can reduce stress but does not remove it completely, highlighting the need for both personal effort and institutional support during the thesis-writing period.

Abstract

This This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of group counseling services employing the self-control technique in reducing online gaming addiction among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Labuhan Maringgai, East Lampung. The research adopted a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire, interviews, and documentation. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the Wilcoxon test, which revealed a Z-score of -2.201 compared to a critical value of 1.96, with a significance level of 0.028 < 0.05. These results indicated a significant effect of group counseling with the self-control technique on decreasing the level of online gaming addiction. The findings suggested that group counseling could serve as an effective intervention in addressing online gaming addiction among students.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) group counseling using cognitive restructuring techniques in improving the resilience of students at Labschool UNTAD Palu High School. This study was based on the low ability of students to cope with academic and non-academic pressures or challenges, which indicates a low level of resilience. This study used a quantitative pretest-posttest control group design approach. There were 20 students participating in the study, divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The research instrument used a resilience scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used a paired sample t-test to determine the difference in resilience levels before and after treatment. The results showed a significant increase in student resilience levels after participating in group counseling using cognitive restructuring techniques. It is known that the average resilience score of the experimental group increased from 97.00 to 112.50 with a significance level (p) of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that CBT group counseling using cognitive restructuring techniques is effective in increasing the resilience of students at Labschool UNTAD Palu High School

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine the guidance and counseling strategies used to address the Quarter-Life Crisis (QLC) among university students, particularly in the context of career decision-making. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research analyzes 62 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025 and retrieved from the Scopus database. The selection process followed the PRISMA 2020 flow, involving stages of identification, screening, and inclusion based on relevance and publication quality criteria. The synthesis results show that the guidance and counseling strategies applied in addressing QLC are multidimensional and encompass five main approaches: strengthening psychological aspects (self-efficacy and career adaptability), adaptive coping strategies, spiritual and reflective approaches, social support from the surrounding environment, and the use of data-based assessments in career decision-making. These findings highlight the importance of holistic and contextual approaches in designing effective and sustainable guidance and counseling services. This study also contributes to the development of guidance and counseling science by emphasizing the integration of spiritual and existential values into career counseling practices for university students. The uniqueness of this study lies in its integrative emphasis on spiritual and existential dimensions as essential foundations in the development of career counseling strategies that not only address crisis resolution but also holistically and contextually shape students’ sense of life meaning.
