Abstract

This article examines the relationship between Islamic political parties in Indonesia and green politics, focusing on a comparative analysis of party platforms. The study investigates how these parties incorporate environmental concerns into their agendas, drawing from both Islamic principles and modern ecological challenges. By reviewing the platforms of key Islamic parties such as the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the United Development Party (PPP), the research assesses their commitment to environmental protection, sustainability, and climate change action. Using qualitative content analysis of official documents, speeches, and policy statements, the study identifies similarities and divergences in how these parties approach ecological issues. The findings show differing levels of priority given to environmental matters, with some parties integrating green politics more prominently, while others maintain a focus on more traditional religious and social issues. This comparative analysis underscores the potential for Islamic political ideologies to engage more deeply with global environmental conversations. The paper concludes by offering recommendations on how Islamic political parties can strengthen their role in addressing environmental sustainability in Indonesia, contributing to broader global efforts.

The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling technique. The sample taken in this study amounted to 200 respondents. The results of the data analysis obtained show the coefficient of determination or R-Square (R2) of 0.651, which means that the magnitude of the contribution of the candidate image variable and religiosity to the voting decision is 65.1%. Abstract

This study aims to describe the (existing) appointment of acting regional heads to fill vacant permanent regional head positions and to propose the ideal appointment of acting regional heads based on democratic principles as stipulated in Law No. 10/2016 on Regional Elections. This study is a normative legal study using a legal and conceptual approach. The data obtained are analyzed and interpreted using relevant legal interpretation methods, and deductive conclusions are drawn. The results of this study indicate that the acting governor who will fill the vacant position will be directly appointed by the President based on the submission of names from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri). As for Acting Regents and Mayors, they are directly selected by the Ministry of Home Affairs. A more democratic appointment design is proposed by implementing a merit-based system in recruitment and broader participation from various political parties, including the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD). This more democratic design aims to ensure the appointment process is more transparent, accountable, and aligned with democratic principles and regional aspirations.

Abstract

Corruption, nepotism, identity-based populism, and authoritarianism often erode the moral legitimacy of political institutions. This study aims to identify the fundamental principles of Islamic political ethics and examine their historical implementation during the time of the Prophet Muhammad and the Khulafā’ al-Rāshidīn. These values are then contextualized for modern pluralistic societies such as Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through a library-based analysis of classical and contemporary Islamic thought, this research finds that Islamic political ethics functions as a moral compass, guiding both leaders and citizens to uphold human dignity, protect communal interests, and reject authoritarianism or opportunism. The historical experience of the Prophet and the Rightly Guided Caliphs highlights ethical governance as a central tenet in Islamic political tradition. In contemporary democratic contexts, the internalization of these ethical values is crucial for fostering inclusive, just, and spiritually grounded political practices.

Abstract

Research on classical Islamic administrative systems tends to emphasize the centralization of caliphal power, yet insufficiently explores the complexity of center-periphery relations in governmental practice. This article analyzes the paradox between political centralization and administrative decentralization during the Umayyad Dynasty in Damascus (670-750 CE) to address gaps in Islamic political history literature. This qualitative research employs a library research approach. Although the Umayyad Dynasty's political system was characterized by absolute monarchy with power centralized in the caliph, governmental administrative practices demonstrated significant administrative decentralization. Provincial governments were granted autonomy to independently manage conquered territories as a response to the geographical and administrative complexities of the vast empire. These findings challenge conventional views regarding the complete centralization of Umayyad governance and contribute to understanding the evolution of Islamic protobureaucracy. This research has theoretical implications for historical public administration and contemporary relevance for discussions of center-periphery relations in modern Muslim world governance.

Abstract

The 2024 General Election shows the politicization of religious roles and the fragmentation of spiritual authority in large religious organizations such as Nahdlatul Ulama. This study aims to analyze the pattern of public perception of the involvement of religious figures in practical politics in the 2024 General Election and examine its impact on religious legitimacy and social cohesion in Indonesia. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach through library research with qualitative content analysis and thematic analysis of 127 selected sources covering laws and regulations, indexed academic publications (2014-2024), and official documentation of religious organizations. That the involvement of religious figures in practical politics is driven by multidimensional motivations that include normative aspects (application of Islamic values in public policy), instrumental (access to political resources), and expressive (expression of religious identity in the public sphere). The political strategies implemented show the adaptation of religious traditions to modern political technology through lectures, political party coalitions, and the use of social media. The impact of involvement is ambivalent: positive in increasing political participation and strengthening moral values in politics, but negative in creating the politicization of religion and social fragmentation. Variations in involvement patterns show different regional characteristics, ranging from accommodative patterns in East Java, integrative in West Java, to patron-client systems in Madura.

Abstract

In the context of democracy, such diversity presents both a strength and a complex challenge. Issues such as identity politics, policy discrimination, radicalism, and the lack of political representation for minority groups threaten democratic stability if left unaddressed. This study aims to fill that gap by analyzing how education can be a transformative tool in promoting tolerance, equality, and active citizenship. Using a literature review method, this study critically examines scholarly sources on political education, democracy, and multiculturalism in Indonesia. The findings show that multicultural and democratic education play a strategic role in shaping inclusive civic values and strengthening democratic participation across diverse societal groups. This analysis contributes to current discourse by emphasizing education not merely as a pedagogical process, but as a structural mechanism in democratic consolidation within multicultural societies. Therefore, this study offers a conceptual advancement for political education scholarship and policy development in plural democracies.
