Abstract

This study explores how social skills are performed among first-grade elementary school children, focusing on key competencies such as communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution. Through qualitative observations and analyses, the study examines how individual differences influence children's social interactions and ability to adapt to structured educational environments. The data were collected using interview guides and documentation, which were later analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that there are three significant notes. First, regarding the communication pattern, the children are more intimate and relaxed when talking to peers and feel more serious when talking to teachers. Second, their ability to cooperate is shown in taking turns. Third, in resolving the anger conflict, they mostly stay silent, believing that it will disappear, and they find their teachers to help end the conflict. It is later concluded that first-grade children adapt their social skills based on context, showing different communication styles, cooperation, and conflict-resolution strategies with peers and adults. This implies that school teachers must pay attention to the student's ability to develop their social skills.

Abstract

Green schools address "nature-deficit disorder" by creating an environment that supports children's interaction with nature. This concept should be implemented since elementary school to form a generation that cares about the environment, is healthy, and is ready to face sustainability challenges. The main objective of this study is to find an effective sustainability education strategy that supports environmental-based education practices in green schools and a learning environment that supports environmental awareness and sustainability. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to identify, review, evaluate, and interpret relevant research. Researchers conducted a literature search in Pubmed, Garuda, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Springer Link with the keywords "sustainability education," "environmental education practices," and "green schools." Articles were selected based on inclusion criteria, namely focusing on sustainability education and environmental-based practices in green schools and having relevant empirical data. Articles that met the criteria were analyzed to identify trends, challenges, and practical strategies for implementing sustainability education. The results highlight that Green Schools significantly contribute to academic performance, environmental awareness, and the development of pro-environmental behaviors. Practical implementations, such as project-based learning activities like recycling projects and school gardening, enhance students' engagement with sustainability topics. Abstract

Character education plays a crucial role in shaping students' moral values, especially in multicultural societies where religious tolerance is essential for social harmony. However, fostering religious tolerance in primary schools remains challenging due to limited structured character education programs. This study aims to explore the implementation of religious tolerance-based character education in elementary schools and identify effective strategies for its reinforcement. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis at an elementary school with a diverse religious background. The data were analyzed using data reduction, display, and conclusion-drawing techniques to understand the phenomenon comprehensively. The findings indicate that strengthening religious tolerance-based character education is implemented through routine activities, spontaneous interventions, teacher role modeling, and environmental conditioning. Routine activities such as daily handshakes, prayers, English Day, literacy sessions, and religious holiday celebrations foster an inclusive school culture. Teachers play a pivotal role in promoting tolerance through direct interventions and exemplary behavior, while the school environment reinforces tolerance through posters, study group arrangements, and discussion-based learning. This study concludes that integrating religious tolerance into daily school activities and the curriculum effectively instills tolerance values among students. These findings contribute to developing structured programs for character education in primary schools, promoting an inclusive and respectful learning environment.
