Abstract

This study explores pre-service elementary teachers’ understanding and practice of holistic assessment based on multiple intelligences. Using a qualitative case study with phenomenological elements, 20 sixth-semester students from Universitas Negeri Medan were purposively selected. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and reflective journals, validated via triangulation and member checking. Findings indicate that while students possess strong theoretical knowledge of multiple intelligence domains, their practice often shows inconsistencies, including misclassification of cognitive levels, reliance on visual complexity, and replication of conventional test formats. The use of AI also affects assessment accuracy. Results highlight the need for teacher education to strengthen assessment literacy, integrating cognitive analysis and multiple intelligences, alongside AI literacy, to produce valid, holistic instruments that genuinely demand higher-order thinking. This study reveals a persistent gap between theory and practice in preparing teachers for holistic mathematics assessment.

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model combined with crossword puzzle media in teaching Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) Chapter 5 for fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Mangunrejo. The main purpose of this research is to explore how the PBL model is applied through this medium, the challenges encountered during its implementation, as well as the strengths and weaknesses experienced by both teachers and students. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with the subjects consisting of the principal, teachers, and students, while the research object was SD Negeri 3 Mangunrejo. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, with validity tested using triangulation of techniques and sources. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s stages, including data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the application of PBL supported by crossword puzzles can enhance students’ participation and enthusiasm in the learning process. Nevertheless, teachers still face certain obstacles, such as limited instructional time and difficulties among some students in understanding the given tasks. The advantages of this method include improved interaction, critical thinking skills, and a more enjoyable learning atmosphere, while its weaknesses lie in varying levels of student comprehension that require teachers to adopt specific strategies.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) the implementation of disciplinary character education, (2) supporting and inhibiting factors, and (3) its impact on fifth grade students. The research method used descriptive qualitative with a case study on five fifth grade students. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, analyzed using an interactive model, and tested for validity through source triangulation. The results of the study showed that the implementation of disciplinary character education was carried out through habituation, teacher role models, and enforcement of rules, but was not optimal because some students only obeyed when supervised. Supporting factors included teacher role models, school rules, and parental support, while inhibiting factors included low student self-awareness, inconsistent family parenting patterns, and peer influence. The impact was seen in positive behavioral changes such as punctuality, compliance with rules, and seriousness in doing assignments, although not yet consistent. Also, disciplinary character education at SD Negeri 02 Jeruksawit has been running but is not evenly distributed, so it still requires cooperation between the school, parents, and the environment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournament cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes in IPAS (Integrated Science) in grade IV at Dharma Wanita Pertiwi Elementary School. The background of this study stems from the initial evaluation results which showed that most students had not achieved the minimum competency standard, with 74.19% of students falling into the “Needs Improvement” category. The TGT model was chosen because it integrates group cooperation, educational games, and academic competition that stimulate motivation, active participation, and in-depth understanding of concepts. This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of all 31 fourth-grade students, selected using total sampling technique. The research instruments included learning outcome tests and student response questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using the N-Gain test to measure learning outcome improvement and the t-test to examine the significance of the difference between pretest and posttest scores. The results showed an average N-Gain of 0.56, which falls into the moderate category (0.3≤ < 0.7), indicating a significant improvement in learning outcomes. The t-test produced a t-count of 6.116, which was greater than the t-table of 1.696 (α = 0.05), so Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. These findings prove that the TGT cooperative learning model has a positive and significant effect on IPAS learning outcomes, while also increasing motivation, activity, cooperation skills, and a more enjoyable learning atmosphere in the classroom.
