Abstract

Mass rapid transit (MRT), inaugurated in 2019 by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, was designed to address the city's transportation challenges by improving accessibility and reducing spatial disparities. This study assessed the MRT’s impact on accessibility and spatial equity, specifically regarding travel time, economic potential, and travel fares. Primary data was collected through a questionnaire to identify passengers' origins and destinations, which was used to analyze the catchment area and calculate real-time travel times during peak hours via a navigation application. Secondary data helped calculate accessibility and spatial equity for two scenarios: with and without the MRT. GIS (Geographic Information System) was used to facilitate a visual understanding of the findings. The analysis revealed that while the MRT improved overall accessibility regarding travel time and economic potential, it failed to reduce travel fares, which are higher than those of other public transportation options like Jaklingko, TransJakarta, and KRL. Moreover, the MRT operation worsened spatial disparities, increasing the gap in accessibility between different areas of the city. In conclusion, while MRT has succeeded in enhancing travel efficiency and boosting the economic potential of several regions, it has also highlighted a growing spatial inequality, particularly regarding travel fares, which remain a challenge for equitable access to transportation across Jakarta.

Abstract

Flooding poses a significant threat to public infrastructure, including facilities in Semarang. These risks can be transferred to third parties through insurance mechanisms. This study aims to assess vulnerability, exposure, and hazard levels as key components of flood risk assessment for public infrastructure from an insurance perspective. Primary data were collected through interviews and questionnaires with school and community health center infrastructure users, as well as insurance-related stakeholders. Secondary data were obtained from government agencies responsible for disaster management and infrastructure planning. The results show that 8.9% of infrastructure was classified as highly vulnerable, 42.2% as having medium vulnerability, and 48.9% as having low vulnerability. Exposure analysis indicated that 8.9% of infrastructure sustained severe damage, 68.9% sustained moderate damage, and 22.2% minor or no damage. Hazard analysis revealed that 46.7% of the infrastructure was located in high-hazard zones, 40% in medium-hazard zones, and 13.3% in low-hazard zones. Risk assessment findings indicate that 64.4% of the infrastructure falls into the low-risk category, 35.6% into the medium-risk category, and none into the high-risk category. The study highlights that implementing a risk-based insurance premium policy allows insurance rates to reflect the flood risk associated with each infrastructure asset more precisely, thereby promoting a more equitable distribution of insurance costs. However, the lack of stakeholder coordination remains a major challenge, as many stakeholders are unaware that public infrastructure is already insured. Improving coordination and awareness is essential for advancing flood insurance implementation in Semarang.

Abstract

The fulfillment of gas networks in industry and households continues to be developed to meet the needs of gas consumers with piping systems in households and industries so that the construction of gas transmission pipeline projects which are the main routes before being distributed to households or certain sectors continues to be carried out, this study aims to find the impact of costs when detailed engineering design of pipes based on the specifications of the pipes used compared to the basic conceptual design. The method used in this study is quantitative, involving field engineering surveys, followed by volume analysis based on work methods, and subsequently unit price analysis. The data generated by the detailed engineering design is compared with the conceptual design volume. An integrated design contractor carries out the construction of a 74-kilometer gas transmission pipeline located on the edge of toll roads and national roads, and its construction implementation. In contrast, the basic conceptual design is carried out by a consultant with an estimated volume of work to be carried out with various work methods, including the Horizontal Directional Drilling method of 5,439 meters, the Auger Boring method of 228 meters, and the Open Cut method of 68,333 meters. According to the technical specifications, the pipe material used varies in each work method, depending on the stress-strain during construction. Integrated design and build contractors are required to perform detailed detailing of conceptual design by verifying through engineering surveys to obtain the necessary volume, following the implementation method associated with using pipe materials for cost management. This study found that the influence of pipe material specifications based on work methods resulted in an 18.3% increase in costs.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of dimensional variations on the bearing capacity and settlement of filter buildings in the Benteng Kobema Bengkulu Regional Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM), which has a capacity of 380 L/second and plays a crucial role in providing clean water to the community. Given the potential risk of the Mentawai Pagai Megathrust subduction earthquake, it is necessary to evaluate the bearing capacity and settlement of building foundations. Based on the results of the Standard Penetration Test (SPT), the effect of variations on bearing capacity and settlement can be determined using two types of pile cross-sections, namely square and circular, accompanied by differences in pile cross-section dimensions, namely 300 mm, 400 mm, 500 mm, and depths of 7 m, 9 m, 11 m, and 13 m. The comparison is based on the bearing capacity of the foundation and the settlement of the pile foundation for the filter building of the SPAM Kobema Bengkulu project, using several methods: Poulos and Davis, Reese and Wright, Luciano Decourt, and the Finite Element Method. The smallest settlement is obtained by comparing the total settlement with the allowable settlement, which is 10% of the diameter. The test results show that the bearing capacity, deflection magnitude, and smallest settlement are below the permissible settlement limit, which is less than 10% of the foundation dimensions. The comparison between the static and numerical methods, or the Bearing Capacity Ratio (BCR), is closer to 1, indicating a more efficient and safer approach. In this analysis, a BCR value approaching one was obtained for a square-section foundation with a size of 500 mm, using the Reese and Wright method at a depth of 9 m. This yielded a bearing capacity of 312.04 tons for a single pile and 207.69 tons for a group of piles.

Abstract

This study investigates the lived experiences of coastal communities in addressing the impacts of tidal flooding and pluvial inundation arising from the absence of drainage infrastructure in Kampung Tanah Baru, Hurip Jaya Village, Babelan District, Bekasi Regency. Utilizing a phenomenological approach within the Community-Based Environmental Management (CBEM) theoretical framework, the study examines residents' environmental perceptions, collective social responses, and the ecological implications of recurrent flooding. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The results reveal that inadequate drainage leads to persistent waterlogging and environmental degradation and significantly hinders local socio-economic functions. These empirical findings provide a critical foundation for formulating an adaptive and sustainable community-based eco-drainage system tailored to the unique socio-environmental context of coastal settlements.

Abstract

Structural analysis is essential in civil engineering to ensure the' safety, stability, and performance of load-bearing elements such as beams. Conventional approaches—such as manual calculations or commercial software—often involve high costs, limited accessibility, or steep learning curves. This study presents a web-based computational tool for analyzing simply supported beams, developed in Python to deliver accurate, real-time results through an interactive interface. The tool utilizes fundamental static equilibrium equations to calculate support reactions, shear forces, and bending moments in the simply supported beam subjected to point and uniformly distributed loads. Python’s numerical and visualization libraries enable the automated generation of shear force and bending moment diagrams, input validation, downloadable CSV outputs, and adjustable parameters. Validation consisted of three stages: comparison with analytical hand calculations, benchmarking against Tekla Structural Designer (Educational License), and a usability survey conducted among 67 participants from academic and professional backgrounds. The tool’s results matched reference calculations, and user feedback highlighted high accuracy, clarity, and educational value. This open-access platform offers an effective solution for educational use. Future development will focus on extending features such as analyzing more complex structures under various loading conditions, performing deflection analysis, and mobile compatibility.

Abstract

The increasing number of train passengers in Indonesia requires transportation service providers to continue to improve the quality of their services. This study aims to determine the effect of service quality on train passenger satisfaction at Malang City New Station using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method. Service quality is measured through six primary dimensions: safety, security, reliability, comfort, convenience, and equality. Data is collected through questionnaires distributed to train passengers and analyzed using SEM software. The results indicate that all dimensions of service quality have a significant impact on passenger satisfaction, with the comfort variable exerting the most dominant influence on service quality. The results of testing the hypothesis regarding the Service Quality variable and service user satisfaction at the new Malang City Station yielded a path coefficient of 0.709. The positive direction of the relationship indicates that increased service quality will lead to higher service user satisfaction at the new Malang City Station, with a t-value of 16.387. Since the t value is greater than the t table (1.960) or p (0.000) ? 0.05, then it can be concluded that service quality has a direct and significant influence on service user satisfaction at New Malang Railway Station.

Abstract

Research on the relationship between infrastructure development and property values remains essential in the context of rapid urbanization. While existing studies predominantly highlight direct influences such as transportation networks and public amenities, limited attention has been given to broader dimensions, particularly sustainability and smart technologies. This study contributes to the literature by systematically reviewing publications from 2020 to 2025, highlighting how infrastructure development influences property prices through sustainable urban planning and the integration of smart infrastructure. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method supported by bibliometric tools (VOSviewer and Publish or Perish), this research identifies four major themes: accessibility, public service provision, regulatory frameworks, and the adoption of green and smart technologies. The findings reveal that although the positive correlation between infrastructure and property values is well established, gaps remain in addressing long-term impacts of green building strategies, energy efficiency, and the economic implications of smart infrastructure. The novelty of this study lies in framing these underexplored themes as emerging research priorities, offering new insights for policymakers, urban planners, and developers in aligning infrastructure investment with sustainable and technologically adaptive urban growth.

Abstract

The operation of the Sambas Besar Bridge (JSSB) significantly alters traffic patterns around Tebas District, particularly at the unsignalized Tebas three-way intersection, which serves both residential and commercial activities. This study applies the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI, 2023) and microscopic simulation using VISSIM. Data collection included traffic volume surveys, geometric measurements, and vehicle counts using CCTV-based technology. Simulation parameters were validated against field conditions to ensure reliability. In 2025, the intersection was categorized as LOS B (delay = 9.4 seconds). Projections indicate declining performance, with LOS C expected to be reached by 2040 if no intervention is applied. Among the three evaluated improvement scenarios, the combined solution of road widening and median addition reduced the average delay to 10.86 seconds (LOS B). The research highlights how newly commissioned infrastructure influences secondary intersections. The proposed integrated solution demonstrates a sustainable strategy to maintain intersection service quality up to 2040, offering insights for other rapidly growing semi-urban regions.

Abstract

Rapid urban development in Pontianak City has led to an increase in traffic volume, resulting in congestion, road damage, and heightened accident risks. This study identifies accident-prone points along the Haji Rais A. Rachman–Hasanuddin Road section, analyzes accident patterns and contributing factors, and proposes targeted safety improvements. Using accident data from 2019 to 2023 and field surveys that assessed road conditions and traffic, accident severity was quantified using the Equivalent Accident Number (EAN), and accident clusters were identified using the Upper Control Limit (UCL) method. The findings reveal that driver-related factors, particularly motorcycle use, are the primary causes of accidents, with peak occurrences near shopping areas during the morning hours. Segments 3 and 4 emerged as critical black spots requiring intervention. Recommended measures include enhanced law enforcement, improved road markings, and addressing uneven road sections to reduce the incidence of accidents. This study fills a gap in applying rigorous statistical methods in medium-sized Indonesian cities, offering evidence-based recommendations for local policymakers to improve urban traffic safety
