Abstract

This study aims to measure the influence of Shopee's Live feature on Doom Spending behavior among members of the Karang Taruna in Gunung Terang Village, Bandar Lampung. The phenomenon of Doom Spending, which refers to impulsive shopping behavior triggered by stress or economic uncertainty, is increasingly prevalent among younger generations, particularly Gen Z and millennials. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method, where data is collected through questionnaires distributed to 60 Karang Taruna members. Data analysis is conducted using simple linear regression to examine the relationship between Shopee Live and Doom Spending. The findings are expected to provide a deeper understanding of how direct interactions in Shopee Live influence impulsive purchasing decisions and offer recommendations to mitigate the negative impacts of Doom Spending behavior.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the important role of first-time voters in shaping democracy, who often face limitations in information and understanding of the election process. The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of political literacy conducted by the General Election Commission (KPU) of Samarinda City in increasing the participation of first-time voters through Instagram. The study employs a qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that KPU Samarinda has implemented various political literacy programs, including outreach in schools, utilization of Instagram, and democracy training for youth. However, challenges such as low political interest among young voters and limited resources remain obstacles. In conclusion, the political literacy efforts by KPU positively contribute to raising awareness and participation of first-time voters, though strengthening strategies and cross-sector collaboration are needed for more optimal outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of marketing communication in influencing consumer behavior, particularly in encouraging purchasing decisions. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach, which seeks to provide an in-depth description of marketing communication strategies in increasing brand awareness among Forthis House customers. The data used in this research consists of primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through direct observation and in-depth interviews with key informants, namely the owner of Forthis House and two regular customers selected through purposive sampling until data saturation was reached. Meanwhile, secondary data were collected from various written sources such as books, journals, and relevant documents to support field findings. Data collection techniques included non-participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation in the form of photos or supporting archives. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which consists of three stages: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Through this approach, the research is expected to provide a comprehensive, valid, and meaningful overview of Forthis House's marketing communication strategies in increasing brand awareness. The results of the study indicate that the marketing communication strategy implemented by Forthis House Samarinda has proven effective in enhancing brand awareness and driving sales growth. The implementation of various promotional mix elements such as advertising through billboards and social media, interactive sales promotions, and a friendly and targeted personal selling approach has successfully built a strong relationship between the brand and its consumers. Forthis House’s responsiveness to customer feedback also contributes to product innovation and service improvement, thereby strengthening customer loyalty. In addition, the use of visual content on digital platforms not only attracts attention but also builds strong emotional engagement with the audience, especially the younger generation. Overall, this integrated marketing communication strategy has effectively reinforced brand image, increased customer loyalty, and positioned Forthis House as one of the competitive brands in Samarinda’s culinary market.

Abstract

Emotional expression is a form of nonverbal communication that can strengthen meaning in interpersonal relationships. This study aims to examine the representation of emotional expressions in interpersonal communication in the music video "Dunia Tipu-Tipu" by Yura Yunita. This research uses an interpretative qualitative approach with the Roland Barthes semiotic analysis method. The music video "Dunia Tipu-Tipu" displays various forms of emotional expressions without dialog, through visual symbols such as eye gaze, facial expressions, and body gestures. The emotions depicted in a number of scenes show the dynamics of relationships between individuals, including couples, friends, and families. The results show that expressions such as sadness, affection, hope, and gratitude are deeply displayed through nonverbal communication. All of these representations are analyzed based on the three layers of meaning in Barthes' semiotics, namely denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings show that visual symbols in music videos are able to convey strong emotional messages and shape cultural constructions of honest and authentic interpersonal relationships.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the communication strategies implemented by the LPADKT organization in preserving the existence of Dayak culture. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach to provide an in-depth description of the communication strategies applied by the Laskar Pemuda Adat Dayak Kalimantan Timur (LPADKT) organization in preserving Dayak culture in the city of Samarinda. Primary data were obtained through interviews with the leaders and bureau heads of LPADKT, while secondary data were gathered from relevant documents and literature. Data analysis was conducted inductively to identify patterns and themes related to communication strategies, cross-cultural dynamics, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors in cultural preservation. The results show that the organizational communication applied by LPADKT in preserving Dayak culture in Samarinda is effective and well-structured. Clarity of messages, appropriate selection of communication channels, and consistent communication frequency, supported by a culture of openness, enable cultural values to be conveyed effectively, especially to the younger generation. The use of social media as a mass communication channel, combined with interpersonal and organizational communication, successfully increases active participation from members and the wider community. Additionally, systematic coordination and constructive conflict management strengthen organizational solidarity, allowing cultural preservation goals to be optimally achieved. Message consistency and high member participation also play key roles in maintaining the continuity of Dayak cultural transmission.

Abstract

Tradisi Tartibe di Negeri Buano Utara merupakan salah satu saluran komunikasi tradisional yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan informasi keagamaan kepada masyarakat. Tujuan artikel ini untuk mengetahui strategi tradisi tartibe sebagai identitas budaya masyarakat buano utara dalam menyebarkan informasi kepada masyarakat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskripsif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penyampaian informasi melalui tradisi Tartibe dilakukan oleh para lebe, yaitu tokoh agama yang bertugas menyebarkan informasi melalui sistem komunikasi dari rumah ke rumah. Tradisi ini berfokus pada pemberitahuan perayaan hari-hari besar Islam, seperti awal Ramadhan, malam tujuh likur, Idul Fitri, dan Idul Adha. Mekanisme penyampaian informasi dilakukan setelah musyawarah antara tokoh adat dan agama, kemudian informasi disampaikan secara langsung oleh empat lebe kepada warga. Selain berfungsi sebagai sarana komunikasi, tradisi ini juga memperlihatkan nilai-nilai sosial masyarakat Buano Utara, seperti gotong royong dan penghargaan terhadap tokoh agama melalui pemberian imbalan sukarela. Strategi penyampaian informasi mencakup pembagian wilayah oleh lebe agar seluruh rumah dapat dijangkau secara efektif. Dengan pendekatan komunikasi yang personal dan sistematis, tradisi Tartibe tetap bertahan sebagai bagian penting dalam struktur sosial dan budaya Buano Utara.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent to which librarian competence influences the quality of library services at the Library and Archives Office of Bengkulu Province. Librarian competence plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality information services to the public. This quantitative descriptive study employed data collection through questionnaires and documentation, involving 96 library users selected using incidental sampling. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The findings reveal a very strong correlation between librarian competence (independent variable) and service quality (dependent variable), with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.854 and a determination coefficient (R²) of 0.729. This indicates that 72.9% of the variation in service quality is influenced by librarian competence, while the remaining 27.1% is influenced by other factors. The t-test confirms that this effect is statistically significant. These results highlight the importance of developing librarian competence, particularly in management, interpersonal communication, and information technology skills, as key strategies to improve public library service quality.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Hajj registration service in 2023 at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office in Bengkulu City. The research used a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Four informants participated, including two ministry staff and two prospective pilgrims. Data analysis referred to Sondang P. Siagian’s eight indicators of effectiveness: clarity of goals, strategy, policy formulation, planning, appropriate programming, infrastructure availability, efficient execution, and educational supervision. Results show that the service was generally effective, though limited human resources and suboptimal technology use remain challenges. Available facilities such as waiting rooms, bank counters, and digital tools like Haji Pintar and Siskohat significantly supported the registration process. The study recommends improving staff capacity and enhancing digital system utilization to achieve more efficient service delivery.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of labor supervision carried out by the Manpower and Transmigration Office of Bengkulu Province. The research focuses on four key indicators based on the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number 33 of 2016 Article 9 Paragraph (2), namely: labor coaching, inspection, testing, and criminal investigation. This study adopts a descriptive qualitative method using data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. Informants include two key informants and two supporting informants from the agency and company environment. The findings reveal that labor supervision in Bengkulu Province has been implemented according to established procedures and regulations. Labor inspectors conduct coaching through socialization and counseling, inspect compliance with labor norms, test occupational health and safety (OHS) systems, and investigate alleged violations of labor regulations. However, several challenges were identified, such as a limited number of inspectors and the complexity of violations in the field. This study contributes to strengthening the function of labor supervision at the regional level and serves as a reference for formulating more effective labor protection policies. Strengthening inspector capacity and improving cross-sectoral coordination are necessary to ensure more optimal supervision outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of performance allowances on the performance of civil servants at the District Office of Sukaraja Subdistrict, Seluma Regency. A quantitative approach with a correlational method was employed. The independent variable in this study is performance allowance, while the dependent variable is employee performance. The sample consisted of 20 civil servants, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment correlation, simple linear regression, and hypothesis testing through t-test, f-test, and coefficient of determination (r²). The results showed that performance allowance had no significant effect on employee performance. This is indicated by the correlation coefficient value of 0.337, which is lower than the r table (0.444), and the determination coefficient value of 0.113, meaning that performance allowance contributes only 11.3% to employee performance. Additionally, the t-count value (1.518) was lower than the t-table value (1.729), leading to the rejection of the alternative hypothesis. Thus, it can be concluded that performance allowances are not the main factor influencing employee performance at the Sukaraja Subdistrict Office.
