Abstract

AbstractThis research is a quasi-experimental research with the purpose to find out the effect of open ended problem on mathematical problem solving skill of elementary school students. The research was conducted on grade 5 students of Gemiring Kidul 1 and Gemiring Kidul 2 Elementary School. These two classes used for research have an equivalent level of skill. Elementary School 1 Gemiring Kidul as an experimental group with 21 students of grade 5 and Elementary School 2 Gemiring Kidul as a control group with 20 students of grade 5. This research has two variables; the independent variable is the implementation of open-ended problem, while the dependent variable is the skill to solve mathematical problems. Both groups were given a pre-test and post-test. The instrument used to measure the problem-solving ability was obtained through a description test of five questions that had been declared valid by experts. Data were analyzed using a t-test. The results of the research revealed that the average pre-test score was 54.62 to 82.29 after the post-test was done using the open-ended problem. The results of t-test calculations obtained tcount of 8.456 and ttable of 1.677 with a significance level of 0.05. The data can be interpreted that tcount> ttable, so H0 is rejected. This shows that learning by implementing open ended problems can significantly improve mathematical problem solving skill. Keywords: Open-Ended Problem; Mathematical Problem Solving

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose in this research is to learn the influence of belief in mathematic and autonomous learning toward ability in mathematics problem solving. This research was conducted by survey method and analyzed by using path analysis. The research used multi stage random sampling by the amount of samples are 76 students. The data collection was done by using the instrument in the form of a test for mathematics ability in problem-solving and a questionnaire for belief mathematic and autonomous learning. The results showed that the indirect effect is the effect of the mathematical belief variable (X1) on mathematics problem solving ability (Y) through the learning independence variable (X2). So based on the direct effect of X1 on Y, the indirect effect of X1 to Y through X2 can be calculated by multiplying the path coefficients p21 and py2 = 0.378 x 0.273 = 0.103. So that the path coefficient of the indirect effect of the mathematical belief variable on the mathematical problem solving ability is obtained by 0.103. From these results it can be concluded that: (1) There is a positive direct effect of mathematical belief on mathematical problem solving ability; (2) There is a positive direct effect of independent learning on mathematical problem solving ability; and (3) There is a positive direct effect of mathematical belief on learning independence. The results of this research indicate that belief in mathematics and independent learning can improve mathematical problem solving skills. Keywords: Belief, Autonomous Learning, Problem Solving

Abstract

The success of a learning program is marked by the achievement of competence by students. One component that can assist teachers in conveying concepts and helping students achieve these competencies is learning media. Learning media is a channel used by teachers to convey messages so that students are motivated to learn and make it easier to understand certain concepts. Current learning media in accordance with technological developments have changed from printed to digital. One example of a teaching material capable of conveying a picture or sound message is video. Learning videos have the advantage of being able to display real examples. However, conditions in the field indicate that the use of video in schools, especially in elementary schools, has not been widely used. This is due to several factors, including the ability of teachers to produce instructional videos. Based on these findings, the purpose of this study is to develop a digital teaching material design in the form of learning videos using the powtoon application and improve students' understanding. The development model that will be used in this research is the 4D model, namely Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students in one of the public elementary schools in Pandeglang Regency. The results of this study are digital teaching materials, namely learning videos designed using the help of the powtoon application on the topic of the properties of light with a very good category and understanding the concepts of students related to the concept of light properties with the quality of achievement in the good category, namely 70.30%.
