The research method uses survey techniques with a descriptive quantitative approach with a correlational model. The research subjects were obtained from 3 locations, namely Daarut Taqwa Orphanage, Minggir, Sleman DIY., Mafaza Orphanage, Yogyakarta City, DIY., and La Tazhaan Orphanage, Banguntapan, Bantul, DIY. A total of 165 respondents with vulnerable ages 12-18 years. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews, and research questionnaires. Data analysis technique using SmartPLS version 3 application with secound order embbedded two stages approach. The results of this study show that: 1) There is a positive and significant influence of self-compassion with the mental health of orphanage adolescents, both direct and influence through the medium of spirituality; 2) There was no significant influence between the self-disclosure variable and the mental health of orphanage adolescents directly. However, there is a positive and significant influence between the self-disclosure variable and the mental health of orphanage adolescents through the spirituality mediator variable; 3) There is a positive and significant influence between the spirituality variable and the mental health variable of the orphanage adolescent directly. The implication of this study is that to prevent orphanage adolescents from mental health disorders, it is necessary to strengthen adolescent spirituality consistently and increase self-compassion attitudes in orphanage adolescents.

Abstract

Abstract. Academic stress is a factor that affects sleep quality. In this study, the variable that mediates the effect of academic stress to sleep quality is school burnout which is studied in the context of online learning. The research was conducted using quantitative research methods to 307 high school students in Bandung through snowball sampling. Each participant filled out the Student-Life Stress Inventory, the Secondary School Burnout Scale, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) technique. Based on the results of the mediation model test, the VAF number was 0.17 (17% 20%) which means that school burnout does not have a mediating effect on the effect of academic stress to sleep quality. Academic stress is more accurately seen as a direct effect. Another finding is that conflict indicator is less to represent academic stress, as well as burnout from family and burnout from studying less predict the school burnout. However, daytime dysfunction is the most representative component of sleep quality. Based on the outer loading, there are factors of academic stress, school burnout, and sleep quality that less to represent these variables. The findings reflect cultural bias. That is why this study suggests future researchers to use measuring instrument which not have risk of cultural bias. Keywords: academic stress; high school students; school burnout; sleep quality.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to test relationship between work discipline and work environment with employee performance at PT Makmur Dekorindo Lestari Medan. The population in this study were 99 employees and all of them became the total sample in this study as many as 99 respondents. The employee performance scale represents assessments on task performance, work behavior, and counter-productive behavior. The work discipline scale represents assessments on time observance, job responsibility, and understanding regulations. The work environment scale represents assessments on physical work environment and non-physical work environment. The research method used was quantitative research with correlational approach using multiple linear regression equations. The hypothesis put forward that good work discipline and work environment can predict the possibility of a significant relationship in the realization of good employee performance simultaneously considered acceptable by proving the calculated Fcount of 66,653 Ftable of 3,091. The invention in this study reveals that work discipline and work environment have a strong relationship (r=0,762) with employee performance simultaneously. Employee performance is only half of the probability (57,2%) predicted by work discipline and work environment. Employees who can display good work discipline and can perceive good work environment have implication for better employee performance. Other interesting invention in this study amidst development of intergenerational issues reveals that the older the employee, the more contribution of work discipline and work environment in predicting employee performance. Keywords: Employee performance; work discipline; work environment

Respondents have characteristics that have worked or are currently working in an organization for at least 1 year, aged 19-48 years, and when working had a leader. Using the latest experimental method, namely Experimental Vignette Methodology (EVM), this study was structured with a 2x2 factorial design, within subject, which means that each respondent will receive 4 stimuli that have been designed by the researcher. All respondents received several stimulus sets in the form of narratives containing statements from the leadership, then filled out innovative work behavior surveys via the google form. Data were analyzed using factorial ANOVA repeated measure technique. The results of this study indicate that the leader self-deprecating humor and aggressive humor have a significant effect on employees’ innovative work behavior. Furthermore, there is a significant interaction effect between leader self-deprecating humor and aggressive humor on innovative work behavior of employees. Abstract

Abstract. Electronic aggression has become a growing phenomenon with the advent of social media platforms, including Instagram. Instagram's characteristics include easy access and the ability to speed up communication and information dissemination, which leads to electronic aggression. This phenomenon is highly concerning. One of the factors that may help Instagram users avoid electronic aggression is the internalization of moral values. However, moral values are not always realized in every context of life. As a result, other factors that can strengthen Instagram users' control over electronic aggression are required. This can be achieved, for example, through good self-control ability. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of moral identity on electronic aggression using self-control as a moderating variable. The research used a correlational design, involving 250 Instagram users as respondents. Data were collected using a moral identity questionnaire scale developed by Black and Reynolds; a self-control scale by Tangney, Baumeister, and Boone; and an electronic aggression scale by Bennett, Guran, Ramos, and Margolin. The findings of the research indicate that moral identity and self-control have a negative impact on electronic aggression among Instagram users. Furthermore, self-control ability can increase the effect of moral identity on electronic aggression by 10.7%.Keywords: Moral identity; self-control; electronic aggression; Instagram users.

This study tested the relationship between behaviour towards money and compulsive buying tendencies behaviour towards money from the power prestige dimension, retention time, distrust, and anxiety. The participants of this study are 275 people. The analysis is done by testing the structural model with a partial least square. The research result showed retention time (T-statistics= 2.330, p= .020, original sample = -.121) and anxiety (T-statistics= 3.374, p= .001, original sample = .258) have effects on compulsive buying tendencies. Meanwhile, the power prestige and distrust dimension do not affect buying tendencies. The results of this study have implications for the importance of developing interventions to prevent the adverse effects of compulsive buying through increased financial planning and decreased financial anxiety. Keywords: Attitude towards money; consumer; compulsive buying; path analysis.

Abstract

Abstract. Student engagement is considered an important factor for children’s success in academics. Findings in individualist countries showed that authoritative parenting is the best parenting style that promotes positive outcomes, including higher student engagement, while authoritarian parenting impacts negatively. These contrasts with the findings in collectivist countries, which showed that authoritarian parenting could also increase student engagement. This study examines how children raised by authoritarian parents could have high student engagement. Researchers hypothesized that this could happen because authoritarian parenting fosters-controlled motivation in the children. This research is a correlational study to test the role of controlled motivation in mediating the relationship between authoritarian parenting and student engagement. The participants were 460 junior high school students (grades 7-9) from 8 Jakarta, Bekasi, and Tangerang schools. The data were collected online using The Parent as Social Context Questionnaire-Adolescent Report, the Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire, and the Student Engagement Measurement-MacArthur to assess student’s perception of their parents’ authoritarian parenting, student’s level of controlled motivation and student’s level of student engagement, respectively. Mediation analysis was carried out with PROCESS macro in SPSS v.20. The result shows that authoritarian parenting, as perceived by students, predicts student engagement through controlled motivation. This finding enlightens parents that even resulting in higher student engagement, being authoritarian is better avoided because it elicits an externally regulated motivation, where children act to maintain their ego, avoid punishment, and get external rewards. How authoritarian parenting might impair children in the long-term was discussed. Keywords: authoritarian; controlled motivation; parenting; student engagement
