Abstract

English is now used as a lingua franca, most of the native and non-native speakers of English are using English as their mode of communication in their business matters or business organizations. English language is spread all over the world into almost all the fields such as science, engineering and technology, medicine, trade and commerce, scientific research, education, tourism, internet, banking, business, advertising, film industry, transportation, pharmacy and to name a few. The international expansion of English has been predicted and promoted regularly by leaders on both sides of the Atlantic over the past 200 years. In October 1934 the Carnegie Foundation sponsored a conference in New York on ‘The use of English as a world language’. ELF is used in a number of fields in which English is used as the mutual language of choice, such as science, politics, business, and education. The materials of higher education in English is to make it available for the learners and the teachers wherever they are located on this earth, most of the students, teachers and research scholars make use of this opportunity to enhance their qualification as well as knowledge. The widespread of English as an international language and with the advent of the internet as a mode of fast communication channel which has no boundaries, both are mutually enforcing novel trends and bringing tremendous changes in this age of globalization. English is the only language that is internationally spoken and accepted. Furthermore, the impact of the English language on the internet has been disclosed above and it also has been proved that there are many websites using English as their medium of communication. Even though there are certain fields that are not mentioned, it seems that English plays a dominant in those areas also.

Abstract

The study deals with humans’ language performance connected to mind, thought, intelligence and way of thinking. The discussion was elaborated through ideas and argumensts explored in the work of library research design. The data were collected and presented in descriptive-qualitative way. The data were obtained from many sources concerning with the topic. Based on the research results, it was found that someone’s language performance is also identified as the ability, quality, and activity of thinking. Someone can be known, recognized, and respected by other people through his/her intelligence and way of thinking. It is caused by the function and urgency of language in human’s everyday life. In the process of thinking, someone requires language/languages to identify, characterise, communicate, and explain what he/she is thinking. It means that someone’s ability of performing or communicating ideas in a language reflects his/her quality of thinking and intelligence. The better someone in thinking and producing ideas the higher quality of communication in language he/she performs. The degree of someone’s intelligence and way of thinking can be measured through the quality of his/her communication in language. The fluency and accuracy of someone’s language production is the reflection of his/her ability of mind and thoughts.

Abstract

This research includes qualitative research. Qualitative research is research that examines phenomena in a state of potency and attempts to describe these phenomena. The phenomenon studied in this study is the way of solving and thinking processes of students in mathematical problem solving related to mixed arithmetic operations by fourth grade elementary school students. The method of solving the problem will be studied according to the four steps of Polya's problem solving, namely: (a) understanding the problem; (b) planning solutions; (c) solving problems; (d) re-examine the results of the work. In this paper, we will discuss how to solve a student's problem and his thinking process in solving mathematical problems related to mixed arithmetic operations.

Abstract

Learning conditions in the Tourism Travel Business Department of SMK Negeri 1 Ternate City require an active, innovative, creative, effective, and fun learning concept. This is based on material characteristics such as Booking Flight Fare Calculation, which requires students to understand the theory as well as be able to apply it later at the implementation of street vendors and when they work in the Tourism Industry later. The purpose of this study is to increase the activeness of students and student learning outcomes through the application of google classroom and google meet. This type of research is classroom action research (Classroom Action Research). The research was carried out in collaboration between researchers, teachers and students. The research subjects are 60 students of class XI.SMK Negeri 1 Ternate City in the 2020/2021 academic year. Data collection techniques used simple observations and questionnaires. The research procedure includes the following stages: (a) planning, (b) implementation (c) observation, and (d) reflection. Based on the research results, the implementation of Google Classroom and Google Meet has an increase in the activeness of students. Where from cycle I,  33 respondent Choose agree with the use of the application, and student learning outcomes obtained was 53.4%. In cycle II the activeness of students increased to 70 percent and student learning outcomes achieved 76.7%. There was an increase from cycle I to cycle II of 23.3%. Therefore it can be concluded that this study is successfully increased students activity in the process of teaching and learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the most dominant student errors and to find out the types of errors made in the fourth semester of Khairun University. In collecting data, the researcher used an instrument in the form of a test. The subjects of this study were students of class B in the fourth semester of Khairun University, totaling 15 people. In analyzing the data, the researcher used qualitative methods as research methods. The researcher collects data from students' writing products and then the data is analyzed by Surface Strategy Taxonomy. The researcher identified and classified the types of errors in the use of the simple present tense in writing descriptive texts by students, to find out which errors were the most dominant. The results showed that the students' total errors were 85 errors. The students made errors in omissions of 25 (29.41%), 24 additions (28.23%), 6 sequence errors (07.14%). Based on the results of the study, it was found that the most dominant student error was the formation error of 30 items (35.51%).

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the teacher's role in motivating the learning of high grade students at Madarasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Ternate in Online Learning. Research on the role of teachers in motivating high-class student learning during the pandemic, was carried out at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Ternate City, carried out in the even semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. This research method is descriptive qualitative, research subjects are teachers and high grade students, namely class IV, V and class VI at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Ternate. To obtain data, researchers used the techniques of observation, Interview, and documentation. Data analysis is done by organizing the data, describing it into units, synthesizing it, compiling it into a pattern, selecting the appropriate data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are that there are various efforts made by teachers in generating learning motivation for high grade students of MIN 1 Ternate City during the implementation of online learning, namely (1) providing added value for students who submit assignments on time; (2) giving prizes for students who complete assignments correctly and on time, and (3) preparing various media and learning methods to foster student enjoyment, and (4) giving praise to students who successfully answer questions during learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the language variations contained in the opinion rubric newspaper and the factors that infuence language variationin the opinion rubric newspaper at the Malut Post Office, Ternate City. The cause of language variatation in the Malut Post newspaper, Ternate City. The source of the data used is an opinion rubric at te Malut Post office. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and the conclusion drawing stage. This research refers to the use of language variations in terms of formality, which consists of frozen variety, standard variety, business variety, relaxed variety, and familliar variety. Based on the results of research on the use of language variation in the opinion rubric newspaper in 6 texts in the opinion rubric newspaper at the Malut Post Office in Ternate City, it was found that language variatations werw 1) frozen variety 6, 2) standard variety 29, 3) business variety 27, 4) relaxed variety 10, 5) familliar variety 4. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be seen how the use of language variations in terms of formality in the opinion rubrics editions 5, 10, 15 january 2021 are very many and various variations are used by the outhor. It can also be seen that the use of language variations in sentences and words written is also different because  it is caused by the background of the author who was sent to the editing office at the Malut post. Furthermore, the factors influence the language variation are found in the background of the outhor who thearticle because the authors of this opinion rubric are mostly from public, students, and activis.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find the effect of learning model on students’ English listening skill. The research was conducted at the English Study Education Program, Language and Art Department, Faculty of Teachres Training and Education of Universitas Khairun, Ternate. The research method is an experiment with the quantitative approach, using factorial design of 2 x 2. The sample size are 32 students. The research result showed that: (1) English listening skills of the students’ who taught with integrative learning models was higher than the student who taught with the experiential models; (2 There is an influence of interaction between the learning model on students’ English listening skills; This is due to the fact that the experiential models is more appropriate for students who have a special character.

Abstract

The research was conducted with the objectives of (1) to find out the results of using the group investigation model in learning to write personal experiences for class VIII MTs students. Al-Khairaat Guruaping oba north. (2) To find out the improvement of personal experience writing skills by using the group investigation model of class VIII MTs students. Al-Khairaat Guraping oba north. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study were 70 students of class VIII MTs. Alkhairaat Guruaping oba north. While the sample in this study was 30 students by 50%. Based on the results of the analysis and conclusions, it can be seen that (1) the observations of teachers in the field of Indonesian language studies have carried out the teaching and learning process well in accordance with the implementation of the curriculum and the use of learning tools in the form of syllabus and lesson plans in writing personal experiences; (2) teacher interviews in the field of Indonesian language studies have taught students with personal experiential writing learning materials and teachers have used cooperative investigative type models to improve student learning outcomes; (3) pretest (pretest) students who get very good qualifications (SB) as many as 6 by 20%, students who get good qualifications (B) as many as 8 by 26%, students who get quite good qualifications (CB) as many as 8 by 26 %, students who received poor qualifications (KB) were 5 by 16. Not yet achieved improvement; (4) final test (protest) students who get very good qualifications (SB) are 14 by 46%, students who get good qualifications (B) are 7 by 23%, students who get quite good qualifications (CB) are 9 by 30 %, students who get poor qualifications (KB) as many as 0 students by 0% achieve an increase.

Abstract

The background of this research is to develop students 'moral intelligence and learning models as well as the lack of PPKn teachers themselves who always develop and educate students' morale in teaching and learning activities in class, besides that students have not been accustomed to answering questions that have the ability to think. they. The objectives of this study are (1) To determine the efforts of the teacher in the development of moral intelligence of students in schools at 33 Halmahera Selatan Public Middle School. (2) To find out the factors that influence the development of moral intelligence of students in schools at 33 Halmahera Selatan State Junior High School. The subjects of this study were the Principals, Teachers and Students of SMP Negeri 33 Halmahera Selatan. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation study. The results of this study: the efforts of the teacher in developing the moral intelligence of students are important to note because it is a method used to find out how the moral intelligence of students is when interacting in the school, family, and community environment in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. able to understand the material being taught and be able to apply it in everyday life. As a form of effort in developing students' moral intelligence, it can be seen from the attitude of piety, discipline, obedience, responsibility, and honesty of students. Basically, the awareness of students is needed, because awareness of the importance of moral intelligence will bring students to good things. If students are aware of the importance of moral values, students will be aware of the laws they get if they violate school rules, students as students can certainly distinguish between good or bad things, and actions that are allowed or prohibited. The availability of facilities and infrastructure is also a factor in developing students' moral intelligence.
