Abstract

The demographic bonus that will hit Indonesia in 2030-2040, where the productive age population (15-64 years) is greater than the non-productive age (65 years and over) more than 60% of the total population of Indonesia. Productive age is expected to contribute positively to development rather than being a population disaster for development, including in Siak District. A comprehensive strategy is needed so that when the demographic bonus occurs, the government is ready with regulations and human resources for managers and objects of population development programs. The Siak Regent's strategy to increase awareness by issuing the Siak Regent Decree number: 213/HK/KPTS/2023 concerning the Establishment of Quality Family Villages at the Village and Kelurahan levels in Siak District in 2023 has not been implemented properly, based on this policy, 131 KB villages should have been formed in Siak District in 2023. This happens because stakeholders do not understand the benefits of population development governance. Synergy is needed in the implementation of the KB Village program with a collaborative Governance pattern, so that it becomes a solution to population development in Siak district. Research using qualitative methods, directly interacting with the object of research.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the rapid growth of the global halal industry, which continues to expand, including in Indonesia. The Governor of Riau has designated Riau as one of the national halal destinations due to its strategic location near Malay countries. The development of the halal industry in Riau is supported by government policies that implement Islamic standards from upstream to downstream sectors. Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as socio-economic entities play an important role in the value chain of the halal ecosystem. Dumai City, known as the “City of Dreams,” has been declared a halal industrial zone. However, the city faces five major challenges: drug abuse, promiscuity, HIV/AIDS, LGBT issues, and the spread of heretical teachings. These challenges contradict the vision of establishing a halal city. This study aims to analyze the efforts and roles of pesantren business units as drivers of the halal ecosystem capable of creating social change and influencing community behavior. Using a descriptive qualitative method involving three pesantren in Dumai City, the findings indicate that pesantren can serve as exemplary institutions in applying Islamic values to economic practices through the principles of honesty, justice, balance, trustworthiness, and the avoidance of riba(usury). Interviews also revealed that pesantren administrators instill four main principles in managing economic activities—honesty, trustworthiness (amanah), public benefit (maslahah), and freedom from riba. In conclusion, pesantren can serve as role models for the community in integrating Islamic values into economic activities and implementing sharia principles in everyday life.

Abstract

The expanding discourse on religious moderation in Indonesia has positioned Islamic educational institutions—particularly pesantren—as pivotal actors in cultivating balanced religious outlooks. Despite their historical role in fostering ummatan wasathan (a just and moderate community), pesantren are frequently problematized within public narratives as potential loci of radicalism, especially in regions such as Riau, which is often associated with relatively low levels of religious tolerance. This study aims to examine and conceptualize the model of religious moderation as practiced in pesantren, and to contribute to the development of Islamic Religious Education discourse grounded in empirical realities. Adopting a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research draws on data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, documentation, and literature review. The study focuses on two pesantren with supplementary insights from key stakeholders within the local Ministry of Religious Affairs. The findings demonstrate that pesantren in Rokan Hulu have substantively operationalized the principles of religious moderation, with no indication of radical or extremist orientations. The four core indicators—national commitment, tolerance, non-violence, and accommodation of local culture—are generally well embedded in institutional practices. However, the dimension of cultural accommodation requires further reinforcement to enhance contextual engagement and community acceptance. These practices are underpinned by foundational Islamic ethical values, including tawasuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), ‘adl (justice), and tasamuh (tolerance). This study is limited to two pesantren within a specific regional context, which may constrain the generalizability of the findings. Nevertheless, it offers important implications for policymakers, educators, and scholars by highlighting the need to strengthen culturally responsive moderation practices within Islamic education. This study provides an original phenomenological account of religious moderation grounded in the lived experiences of pesantren communities in a socio-culturally distinctive region. It advances the scholarly conversation by integrating local Islamic traditions with contemporary moderation frameworks, thereby offering a nuanced model for fostering inclusive and contextually relevant Islamic education.

Abstract

This research aims to construct how the integration of social competence and ethics of Makārim Al-Syarī'ah can form excellent teachers in the environment at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City. This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. The informants in this study amounted to three people, namely the head of curriculum, PAI teacher, and head of student affairs, who were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research shows that the ethics of Makārim Al-Syarī’ah can be integrated into social competence to form superior teachers and become a strong foundation for madrasah teachers in developing interaction skills that are oriented towards creating benefits. Although, some teachers still have a basic understanding and have not received adequate training related to the integration of Makārim Al-Syarī’ah ethics in social competence. The head of curriculum proposed that the ethical values of Makārim Al-Syarī’ah become part of the teacher's personality to improve competence in interaction. The PAI teacher emphasized the importance of good communication with parents to create effective collaboration in solving student problems. The head of student affairs emphasized that the ethics of Makārim Al-Syarī’ah includes spiritual values, norms, and emotional values that must be applied in learning. The study recommends a regular training program for teachers on the application of Makārim Al-Syarī’ah ethics in teaching practice, creating a structured communication guide between teachers and parents, and establishing a periodic evaluation system to ensure teachers play their role as effective role models in shaping student character.Keywords: Excellent Teacher, teacher professionalism, Makarim Al-syari'ah

Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of public knowledge and understanding of zakat and the lack of existence of zakat management organizations in emphasizing the importance of agricultural zakat so that people who have the potential to pay zakat are not by the provisions of zakat where zakat is something that must be issued if it has reached the nisab and levels and implemented when the nisab and haul have arrived. The research objective is how the level of public understanding of agricultural zakat, especially hybrid coconut farmers. The formulation of the research problem is what is the level of public understanding of zakat on coconut farming. The subjects of this study were the people of Tegal Rejo Village, Pelangiran District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, while the object in this study was the community's understanding of agricultural zakat. The type of research used is the type of field research. The data sources used are primary and secondary data. While the data collection techniques are questionnaires, observation, questionnaires, and documentation. To analyze the data using descriptive qualitative methods. The number of populations in this study was 85 people. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that through the respondents' answers, it can be concluded that the analysis of people's understanding of agricultural zakat Tegal Rejo, Kec. Pelangiran Kab. Inhil answered "good" about zakat on agriculture with a percentage of 64.70%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing development and large potential of waqf in Indonesia, but it has not yet been implemented optimally. Waqf, as an Islamic philanthropy, has a very important role in Islamic history. Waqf is also useful as a source of funding for the construction of mosques, hospitals, public facilities, and schools. The aim of this research is to determine the waqf management development model in Islamic boarding schools that are managed with waqf funds. This research is useful as 1) a reference and point of reference for stakeholders and waqf nadzir in developing waqf fund management, especially in Islamic boarding schools; 2) to provide information and socialize the community regarding the waqf development model for Islamic boarding schools in Pekanbaru city; and 3) to become an academic text for the development of sharia economic studies in general and waqf in particular. This type of research is field research with qualitative methods and a non-interactive qualitative approach. The data collection technique for this research uses interview techniques, documentation, and literature. The output of this research will be published in an accredited national journal and submitted as proceedings.
