Abstract

Promosi kesehatan di Puskesmas merupakan upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat untuk mencegah penyakit dan meningkatkan derajat kesehatan secara mandiri. Salah satu topik penting yang diangkat adalah pemahaman tentang Beyond Use Date (BUD), yaitu batas waktu penggunaan obat yang telah diracik atau setelah kemasan primernya dibuka. Masih banyak masyarakat yang belum memahami perbedaan antara BUD dan expired date, sehingga edukasi diperlukan. Kegiatan promosi dilakukan di ruang tunggu Apotek tiga Puskesmas di kota Palu yaitu: Puskesmas Bulili, Kamonji dan Mabelopura melalui penyuluhan menggunakan media leaflet, dengan peserta sebanyak 100 orang. Penyuluhan dipandu oleh mahasiswa Program Studi Profesi Apoteker Universitas Tadulako bersama Apoteker Puskesmas. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner pasca-edukasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan pasien meningkat secara signifikan, dengan persentase jawaban benar mencapai 84,5%. Nilai rata-rata sikap yang diperoleh adalah 8,2, yang mengindikasikan kecenderungan positif. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai BUD dan pentingnya memperhatikan batas penggunaan obat secara aman dan rasional. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat berkelanjutan sebagai sarana edukatif di layanan kesehatan primer

Abstract

Taro tubers (Colocasia esculenta L.) are a potential source of starch for use as a tablet binder. However, the limited flowability of native starch necessitates chemical modification to ensure consistent binder performance in tablet formulation. This study evaluated carboxymethyl starch (CMS) derived from taro tubers in comparison with native starch and investigated the effect of CMS concentration on the quality of paracetamol tablet formulation. CMS was synthesized from taro starch, characterized for flowability parameters and angle of repose, then applied as a binder at concentrations of 3% (F1), 5% (F2), 10% (F3), and 15% (F4), with native starch 5% (F0) and HPMC 5% (F5) used as a control. Tablet quality was evaluated in terms of weight uniformity, friability, hardness, disintegration time, and dissolution. CMS exhibited improved flow properties compared to native starch, with a Carr’s index of 16.43% and a flow rate at 1.19 g/s, indicating fairly good flowability. Tablets formulated with CMS demonstrated acceptable physicochemical characteristics, particularly at concentrations 5-10% (F2 and F3), which met pharmacopeial requirements for friability (<1%), hardness (4-8 kg), and disintegration time (<15 min), then showed comparable performance to HPMC. In conclusion, taro-based CMS is a promising natural binder that enhances tablet mechanical strength and reduces friability in paracetamol tablet formulations.

Abstract

The main objective of this paving block production initiative is to address the waste problem in North Tomoli Village. The community was encouraged to work together to tackle waste issues and create a cleaner and more beautiful village environment. Waste management—particularly of plastic waste and similar materials—was the primary focus of the community service team in this activity. The method employed in this community service program was direct training provided to residents, conducted in three phases: the initial stage, the process stage, and the final stage. This training focused on the technical aspects of paving block production, with active community involvement throughout the process. Through this training approach, it is expected that the residents and village officials of North Tomoli will be able to manage waste in their surroundings independently. As a result, the volume of waste can be reduced and even transformed into products of economic value. The outcome of this community service activity indicates that the program was successfully implemented, and the community was able to produce paving blocks independently. With effective waste utilization and management, it is hoped that the residents can contribute to reducing environmental pollution in North Tomoli Village.
