Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of storytelling using finger puppets on the speaking skills of early childhood students, namely vocabulary, unclear pronunciation, and the ability to answer questions. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-test and post-test design. The research subjects were five children in Group A. Data were obtained through observation, tests, and interviews, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests. The results of the study show an increase in children's speaking abilities after being treated with the storytelling method using finger puppets. In terms of vocabulary, the percentage of children in the Developing as Expected (BSH) category increased from 0% to 40%. In terms of pronunciation, children who initially had difficulty pronouncing words clearly began to show progress, with 40% falling into the Beginning to Develop (MB) category. Meanwhile, in terms of answering questions, although most children were still in the Beginning to Develop category, there was an increase in children's courage in giving simple answers. The t-test results showed a significance value of 0.099 > 0.05, which means that the increase was not statistically significant, but in practical terms, this method had a positive impact on the development of children's speaking skills.

Abstract

Early childhood learning media is very important to be prepared by teachers before learning activities begin. Without learning media as an introduction or intermediary, ongoing learning will not be interesting. The use of technology will make it very easy for teachers to prepare practical and interesting digital-based learning media. Creating digital-based learning media will allow teachers to be creative and innovate with various applications and devices provided by information technology. Learning or media created by utilizing digital-based learning provides a new revolution for teachers in the learning methods used. The digital media used include PowerPoint, Prezi, Canva, CapCut, and the Kahoot and Quizizz apps, making learning more enjoyable. Regular use of digital media can improve learning quality, as students become accustomed to learning in a more engaging, active, and independent manner. Furthermore, this method helps students develop 21st-century skills such as digital literacy, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. This also makes it easier for teachers to assess, provide feedback, and adapt teaching methods to meet students' needs. The results of community service found a significant increase in teacher knowledge and skills with an average pre-test score of 61 and an average post-test score of 83. This activity succeeded in increasing teacher competence in preparing the learning process.

Abstract

The development of children’s religious values plays a fundamental role in shaping their character, particularly in helping children distinguish between good and bad behavior, understanding basic worship practices, and recognizing Islamic symbols from an early age. However, learning activities in early childhood education settings often lack reinforcement strategies that effectively engage children and sustain their motivation during religious learning. This study aims to analyze the role of implementing reward and punishment in strengthening religious values in early childhood education. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving 13 children aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that applying rewards and punishments in learning activities can increase children’s motivation, attention, discipline, and understanding of religious concepts. Three aspects showed improvement: recognition of Hijaiyah letters, performance of prayer movements, and knowledge of the Hijri months. Teachers implemented rewards such as praise, applause, and star stickers, while punishment was applied educationally through verbal reminders and task continuation. These results suggest that appropriately implemented reward and punishment strategies, combined with habituation practices, can effectively support the development of religious values in early childhood education settings.

Abstract

Background: Early childhood education (ages 3–6 years) is known as a golden developmental period that requires appropriate stimulation to optimize all developmental domains, including gross motor skills. Observations conducted at TK Mololisan Rano Balaesang Tanjung revealed that children’s gross motor abilities had not yet developed as expected, as indicated by weak balance, strength, and agility due to limited physical activity. One potentially effective solution is the use of traditional physical play, such as jump-rope games, which stimulate gross motor performance. Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of jump-rope play activities on the gross motor skills of children in Group A. Method: This research employed a quantitative descriptive design. The study involved 10 children (3 boys and 7 girls) who participated in the program for three weeks. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential testing with a t-test. Results: The findings indicate that jump-rope play had a significant effect on improving children’s gross motor abilities, particularly in the aspects of balance, agility, and coordination. Conclusion: Jump-rope activities may serve as an enjoyable learning medium that effectively supports the development of gross motor skills in early childhood.

Abstract

Mothers have a crucial role in household affairs and childcare in the family. But now, the role of mothers is starting to change. Some mothers choose to work for various reasons including being able to meet needs, self-actualization, knowledge experience, and to fill spare time. Working mothers will easily experience stress, fatigue, or even frustration if they cannot balance between work and their responsibilities as housewives. This condition will have a bad impact on the family. Parenting self-efficacy is a parent's confidence in their competence in caring for and providing care for children that positively influences the child's behavior and development. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the role of parenting self-efficacy. Participants consisted of 192 working mothers who had children between the ages of 0 and 8. This study used a random sample. Working mothers were given a questionnaire that was distributed according to the SEPTI scale to measure their self-efficacy in parenting. The results showed a significant relationship between stress and well-being among working mothers, t-count values of t = 129,872 > t-table 1,994. The higher the stress level of the mothers, the lower the self-effectiveness of their parents. Conversely, the lower the mother's stress level, the higher their parents' self-efficiency. In the end, the hypothesis was accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of contextual learning in developing children’s cognitive abilities. The subjects of this research were all 18 children in Group B of Pelita Hati Kindergarten, consisting of 9 boys and 9 girls. The findings revealed that contextual learning played a significant role in enhancing the cognitive development of children in Group B, particularly through the use of spinach as a learning medium. Before the learning activity began, the teacher introduced spinach, explained its parts, and encouraged the children to identify and count them. The teacher then invited the children to play a sorting game by arranging the spinach from the smallest to the largest. Through contextual learning, children were able to interact directly with concrete materials, which supported the early childhood education principle of learning through play and facilitated better understanding. Observations conducted over three weeks showed that contextual learning greatly contributed to children’s cognitive growth, particularly in three key aspects: sequencing, identifying, and counting.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of balanced nutrition education on stunting prevention efforts among early childhood learners in a Kindergarten setting. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating both qualitative and quantitative data to obtain comprehensive and reliable findings. The research subjects consisted of 15 children, including 5 boys and 10 girls. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using complementary qualitative and quantitative techniques. The results show that the overall achievement of balanced nutritional eating patterns reached 100%. Furthermore, the average score of children’s balanced nutrition eating behavior was 41.5%, categorized as “developing as expected” (BSH). These findings indicate that balanced nutrition education has a significant positive effect on stunting prevention efforts among early childhood learners aged 4–6 years in the Kindergarten context. The study suggests that early and consistent nutrition education should be integrated into school programs as well as family involvement activities to strengthen stunting prevention initiatives. Future research is recommended to include larger participant groups and utilize longitudinal approaches to examine long-term changes in children’s nutritional behaviors.
