Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Ethnoscience-based PjBL model in improving the understanding of Biotechnology concepts through a systematic literature review. The research method uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that follows the PRISMA standard, with data sources obtained from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases for the period 2013–2025. A total of 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed using a bibliometric approach and qualitative thematic synthesis. The results of the study show that PjBL-Ethnosains consistently provides a significant improvement in the mastery of Biotechnology concepts across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Adaptive models such as CEL-BaDiS and CEL-BaDiS Up resulted in increased high-level thinking skills, including creativity and problem-solving, with gains reaching the medium-high category. In conclusion, Ethnoscience-based PjBL effectively strengthens understanding of Biotechnology concepts by integrating local cultural context into the scientific inquiry process. This study suggests developing a PjBL-Ethnoscience model with a more explicit syntax and rigorous experimental testing to produce a more comprehensive quantitative effect measure.

Abstract

Premature babies are babies born with a body weight of <2500 grams or with a gestational age of <37 weeks. Premature babies will be treated separately from their mothers/parents, which will limit physical contact between the baby and the mother/father. This can cause anxiety in the mother. Mothers with premature babies are vulnerable to the risk of psychological stress and postpartum depression. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between anxiety of parents of premature babies and physiological responses of premature babies. This study is a quantitative study using a cros sectional approach. With a population of all mothers with premature babies who were treated in the NICU room at Mokopido Tolitoli Hospital in February to April, with a total sample of 42 people taken by Accidental Sampling technique. The type of data collection was done by distributing questionnaires to respondents. Bivariate analysis in this study using chi square test. Based on the results of research conducted at the Mokopido Tolitoli Regional General Hospital on the relationship between anxiety and the physiological response of premature infants in the NICU room of the Mokopido Hospital, Toli-toli Regency, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship in this study, where a significant relationship is obtained between the two variables, namely parental anxiety with the physiological response of infants in the NICU room of the Mokopido Hospital, Tolitoli Regency with a p value where parental anxiety with the baby's heart rate response, namely the heart rate response of the baby

Abstract

Communication is a key element in midwifery care, especially in building patient trust and comfort. Therapeutic communication plays a crucial role in helping patients manage anxiety, particularly when facing medical procedures such as surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between therapeutic communication provided by midwives and the level of patient anxiety before undergoing cesarean section (CS). This quantitative study utilized a cross-sectional design, involving 34 pre-operative CS patients selected using an accidental sampling method. Data were collected using questionnaires to assess the quality of therapeutic communication and the patient's anxiety levels. Univariate results indicated that the majority of midwives provided therapeutic communication of "good" quality (82.4%), and most patients did not experience anxiety (61.8%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between therapeutic communication and anxiety reduction (P-Value = 0.001). In conclusion, well-implemented therapeutic communication can significantly reduce anxiety in pre-operative CS patients. Therefore, it is highly recommended that training in empathetic and effective therapeutic communication continues to be enhanced as part of quality midwifery services.
