Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic (VAK) Learning method on the English vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at MTs Nur Rahma Kota Bengkulu. The research method used was quantitative with a pre-experimental design (One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design). The subjects of this study were 14 students of class VII Mekkah. Data were collected through vocabulary tests (pre-test and post-test) and analyzed using the Normality Test and Paired Sample t-Test with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after the implementation of the VAK method. This was evidenced by the average post-test score (61.57) being higher than the average pre-test score (41.43), as well as the result of the paired sample t-test with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.05. Abstract

This study investigates eleventh-grade students’ perceptions of Quizizz in developing English reading comprehension at MAN 2 Kota Bengkulu. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-method design, quantitative data were collected through questionnaires and qualitative insights through interviews. Results show students perceive Quizizz as engaging, easy to use, and motivating. The platform improves comprehension, vocabulary, and focus, although challenges include unstable internet and time pressure. Overall, Quizizz is considered effective in enhancing EFL reading comprehension.

Abstract

This study, entitled "Analysis of Linguistic Politeness in the Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate Student Activity Unit at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu: A Pragmatic Study," sought to explore and describe the various manifestations of linguistic politeness within the training processes of the Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) Student Activity Unit (UKM) at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu. Adopting a qualitative research approach, data were meticulously collected through a combination of observation, audio/video recording, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The primary data source comprised verbal utterances gathered throughout the research period, which were subsequently analyzed using Leech's comprehensive theory of Linguistic Politeness Maxims. The research concludes that the verbal interactions within the PSHT Student Activity Unit at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu are predominantly polite, as demonstrated by consistent adherence to and application of these politeness maxims. The analysis specifically identified patterns of usage: The Tact Maxim was used in five conversations, the Generosity Maxim in four conversations, the Approval Maxim in six conversations, the Modesty Maxim in two conversations, the Agreement Maxim in five conversations, and the Sympathy Maxim in one conversation.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the students' perceptions towards the implementation of English language material for early childhood based on project-based learning. This research was a qualitative descriptive study. The method used in this research is the survey method. The subject of this study was a student of the 6th semester at English Language Education who took TEYL courses at FTT UIN FAS Bengkulu. There were 26 (twenty-six) students in the sample for the research. In collecting the data, the researcher used a questionnaire about students' perceptions towards the implementation of project-based learning in designing English learning material for early childhood education. The result of the research clearly showed that project-based learning has a significant impact on student performance in designing English learning material for early childhood education. Abstract

This study addressed the limited research on analysis of teaching strategies on students’ English language learning at MTsN 1 Kota Bengkulu. It aims to investigate how the teachers’ experience and students’ perception about teaching strategies employed towards the students English language learning. A mixed-method design was employed, combining qualitative approaches (interviews, documentation) and quantitative data (questionnaires) involving 36 ninth-grade students and a teacher at MTsN 1 Kota Bengkulu. The findings indicate that the teaching strategies using a combination of project-based learning, peer tutoring, mini-projects, and interactive activities such as Text Songs and outdoor activities implemented in ninth-grade MTs English classes have a positive impact on students’ English language learning. In addition, students responded positively showing increased enthusiasm, active participation, greater collaboration, and they also expressed that these strategies made learning more enjoyable, less monotonous, and easier to understand, while boosting confidence and willingness to participate.
