Abstract

Obesity control is a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, contributing to chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. Adequate fiber intake effectively reduces obesity risk by increasing satiety and improving digestive function. This study aims to analyze the differences in nutritional content, fiber, and acceptability among three cookie formulations with the addition of Kepok banana flour (Musa paradisiaca L.) and red kidney bean flour (Phaseolus vulgaris) for adult obesity control. This experimental study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) involving various cookie formulations. Each formulation was tested for nutritional content, including protein, fat, carbohydrates, and fiber, as well as acceptability through organoleptic tests. Data analysis was conducted using ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc test for normally distributed and homogeneous data. For non-normally distributed data, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests were used. Organoleptic tests were analyzed using the Friedman and Wilcoxon tests. The results showed significant differences among formulations in terms of nutritional content and acceptability. Based on organoleptic test results, F3 had the best acceptability. This study recommends further research with long-term clinical trials to evaluate the impact of these cookies on comprehensive obesity control.

Abstract

Medication adherence is an important factor in the management of type 2 DM. Non-adherence in taking medication can worsen the patient's health condition, increase glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels , and increase the risk of complications such as neuropathy, nephropathy, and cardiovascular disease. Research shows that only about 50-60% of patients comply with prescribed medication. The aim of this research is to develop a research instrument on medication adherence in Diabetes Mellitus patients. The type of research used is Research and Development . To produce a research instrument product on compliance with taking diabetes mellitus medication and to test its effectiveness, the research process is carried out through two main stages, namely the content validity stage and the validity and reliability test stage. Content validity is evaluated by 10 expect panels. While the validity and reliability tests were carried out on 30 respondents, namely Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients aged 19-40 years who are outpatients in Mardhatillah Hospital Pemalang, Central Java. Validity test analysis using Pearson Product Moment correlation (r) by looking at the output results of Corrected Item Total Correlation , while the Reliability Test is measured by the Cronbach Alpha statistical test. The results of this study indicate that all items in the diabetes mellitus medication adherence instrument meet the content validity criteria based on the assessment. for expert (I-CVI ≥ 0.75). Furthermore, based on the validity test of 15 question items, it is known that for statements 1 to 15, the lowest calculated r is 0.436 and the highest calculated r is 0.779, so that the 15 statements of the DM medication adherence questionnaire are valid. Meanwhile, the results of the reliability test on the 15 items of this research questionnaire have a total Cronbach's Alpha value per variable > 0.60, so that the research questionnaire is reliable (consistent). The research instrument in the form of a questionnaire on adherence to taking DM medication consisting of 15 questions was declared to meet the criteria of content validity , validity and reliability , so it can be used as a research instrument. With valid and reliable instruments, health workers can monitor patient compliance more effectively, support the success of therapy and improve the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Stunting is a complex public health problem in Indonesia. The incidence of stunting in Kudus City was 3,601 toddlers (5.85%), with the highest prevalence in Dawe District (13.32%), Undaan District (11.13%), Gebog District (10.66%), and 238 children under five, accompanied by comorbidities such as acute respiratory tract infections (ARI), diarrhea, tuberculosis (TB), and worms. One of the determining factors for success in combating stunting is family independence in managing the health of toddlers. However, family independence is constrained by limited access to information, lack of balanced nutrition education, sanitation, personal hygiene, symptoms of comorbidities, monitoring and development of toddlers not routinely, non-compliance with immunization and treatment. Smartphone applications can be used to overcome these obstacles. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the “Family Care Stunting” smartphone application in improving the health independence of families of stunted toddlers with comorbidities. This study used a research and development design, with 201 respondents from families of stunted toddlers who had comorbidities. Effectiveness was analyzed using the Wilcoxon nonparametric differential test to compare the level of family health independence before and after the intervention. There was a significant increase in the level of family health independence after the intervention of the “Family Care Stunting” smartphone application (p-value = 0.000). This application has the potential to be an innovative tool that supports families to play an active role in child health management, thereby contributing to more comprehensive stunting prevention and handling efforts.
