Abstract

Fundamental karate movement techniques (Kihon) are taught to students. Karate's fundamental techniques consist of blocks, strikes, jabs, and kicks. Karate novices are required to master kihon, or fundamental techniques, from which further training is derived. The effect of rigid and repetitive training methods on students is one of boredom and saturation. A method employed to enhance students' proficiency in kihon is the utilization of visual media. The objective of this study is to compare the impact of video media and poster image learning in high-concentration and low-concentration groups on the Kihon ability of SMPN 23 Pekanbaru extracurricular karate students. The experimental methodology utilized in this investigation is a 2x2 factorial experimental design. The study's population comprises 60 pupils enrolled in extracurricular karate at SMPN 23 Pekanbaru. The sample consisted of 16 students, which were divided into two groups. The data were analyzed utilizing two-way ANOVA and the T-test. Conclusions of the investigation The impact of video media and poster images in the classroom on the kihon abilities of students varies, irrespective of their placement in the high-concentration or low-concentration group under instruction. Students' kihon abilities are not influenced by the utilization of video media and poster images to acquire knowledge, irrespective of their placement in the high-concentration or low-concentration group. The mean difference in learning outcomes between video media and poster images was notably greater in both the high-concentration and low-concentration groups when compared to learning via poster images.

Abstract

This study tackles the issue of enhancing athletic performance in Pencak Silat, particularly in the execution of the crescent kick, a technique that demands agility, strength, and coordination. It is known that physical conditioning and motivation can affect how well an athlete performs. Nevertheless, limited research investigates the impact of training methodologies and motivational levels on martial arts performance. To examine this, a quasi-experimental design was utilized, testing two physical training methods (Ladder Drill and Zig-Zag Run) and two motivation levels (high and low) on 40 athletes (20 male and 20 female) from the IKSPI Kera Sakti club. The study employed a 2x2 factorial design, utilizing crescent kick ability as the dependent variable and motivation as a moderating variable. The results showed that the main effects of training methods and motivation levels on crescent kick ability were not statistically significant (p >0.05). However, the overall model explained 92% of the variance in performance (Adjusted R? = 0.905), which shows that both physical training and motivation had a strong effect on performance. Tests for normality and homogeneity of variance showed that the assumptions for parametric analysis were met, which made sure that the results were reliable. This study emphasizes that the amalgamation of physical conditioning and psychological support not only improves athletic performance but also fosters the physical and mental well-being of adolescents, thereby advancing overarching objectives in health promotion. To get the best results in sports and long-term health, you need to look at all of these factors together. Subsequent research ought to incorporate larger sample sizes and longitudinal methodologies to investigate the enduring effects of such interventions on youth development?Keyword: Pencak Silat, Crescent Kick, Physical Conditioning, Motivation, Ladder Drill, Zig-Zag Run

Abstract

Elementary physical education learning outcomes are often examined through isolated physiological or psychological variables, leading to fragmented theoretical explanations. This study aims to develop an integrated conceptual understanding of how nutritional status, physical fitness, and self-perception relate to learning outcomes in elementary physical education. A Conceptual Review was conducted using a narrative synthesis of national and international peer-reviewed literature published between 2018 and 2025. Relevant studies were analyzed to identify dominant conceptual patterns, theoretical positions, and relational mechanisms among the three constructs. The analysis indicates that nutritional status and physical fitness function as foundational physiological conditions, while self-perception operates as a central psychological mechanism mediating students’ engagement and learning participation. Unlike previous research that treats these factors independently, this study proposes a unified conceptual framework that explains their interrelationships. This framework contributes to advancing holistic perspectives in physical education theory and provides a theoretical foundation for future empirical research and integrative educational interventions.

Abstract

This study aimed to conduct a needs analysis for developing a football shooting training program by profiling lower-limb explosive power, foot–eye coordination, and concentration among extracurricular football students at SMKN 1 Sijunjung. Thirty students with at least six months of regular training participated in purposive sampling. Explosive power was assessed using the Vertical Jump Test, coordination with the Foot–Eye Coordination Test, concentration with the Grid Concentration Test, and shooting ability with a standardized shooting test. Data were analyzed descriptively, using normative categorization, gap analysis, and a Need Priority Index (NPI) to identify training priorities. Results showed most students scored low across lower-limb power (63%), coordination (58%), concentration (71%), and shooting ability (68%), with the largest gaps in concentration, explosive power, and coordination. The NPI indicated a structured, progressive training approach prioritizing mental focus, neuromuscular power, and coordination before technical shooting development. These findings provide empirical guidance for targeted, evidence-based interventions in youth football training.

Abstract

This literature review examines the role of nutrition in enhancing physical performance and preventing injuries in military activities. Optimal physical fitness is crucial in military settings, where personnel are regularly exposed to extreme physical demands, including intense training, combat operations, and harsh environmental conditions. Proper nutrition plays a pivotal role in maintaining energy, enhancing muscle recovery, and preventing injuries. Key macronutrients—carbohydrates, proteins, and fats—are essential for sustaining endurance, repairing muscles, and providing steady energy, particularly during prolonged operations. Additionally, micronutrients like vitamins D, calcium, magnesium, and potassium support bone and muscle health, while antioxidants (e.g., vitamins C, E, and zinc) reduce inflammation and accelerate recovery. The review also highlights the significance of hydration and the need for personalized nutrition strategies tailored to the unique demands of military personnel. Studies emphasize that nutrition interventions not only optimize physical performance but also mitigate injury risks and improve recovery, especially in cases of traumatic injuries such as brain trauma. The review suggests that military-specific nutrition guidelines are necessary to enhance readiness and resilience in soldiers. Furthermore, targeted dietary supplementation may help prevent deficiencies and improve overall health. In conclusion, the review underscores the critical role of evidence-based nutrition strategies in maintaining the physical and mental well-being of military personnel, ultimately supporting long-term operational readiness. Further research is recommended to refine these strategies and their application in military contexts

Abstract

Dribbling ability is one of the techniques that futsal players must have. The small field area requires players to have good dribbling skills in attacking, both when passing opponents and accelerating into the opponent's defense area. This study was conducted to determine the effect of speed, flexibility, and agility on dribbling ability. This type of research is quantitative research using the path analysis method. The population in this study was 25 Vamos Futsal Academy players. The sampling technique used a purposive sampling technique, resulting in a sample of 16 people. The instruments used in this study were 1) a 20-meter speed test, to measure speed, 2) a Sit and Reach Test, to measure flexibility, 3) a Zig-zag Run Test, to measure agility, and 4) a Slalom Dribbling Test, to measure a player's dribbling ability. The test results were analyzed using path analysis techniques to determine the pattern of relationships between variables. Data analysis includes several stages, namely: Data description, Normality test, and Linearity test. Path analysis was conducted to identify the extent of influence of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The results showed that speed, flexibility, and agility contributed 95.3% to dribbling ability. Meanwhile, 4.7% was influenced by other variables not included in this study. Therefore, it can be concluded that speed, flexibility, and agility are important factors that directly influence the dribbling ability of futsal players.
