Abstract

Background: Nefrotik syndrome (NS) is the most common kidney disorder found in children with an incidence rate of up to 15 times more than in adults. Clinical conditions due to disease progression and the effects of NS treatment require adjustments in terms of diet, so it requires a proper diet to suppress disease progression and improve the quality of life of patients. Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of nutritional care on the development of the condition of pediatric NS patients. Methods: This study is a case report of nutritional care of NS patients for 3 days. The study was conducted at Dr. Mohamad Saleh Probolinggo Regional Public Hospital. The subjects in this study was adolescents aged 17 years and 10 months with NS. The data obtained are tabulated and analyzed descriptively. Results: After providing nutritional care for 3 days, it was seen that the nutritional status of patients before and after the intervention was classified as good nutritional status, the patient's albumin levels increased from 2,2 mg/dL to 3,3 mg/dL. The patient's physical condition showed a reduction in edema in the feet and hands. The average energy intake has met the adequacy of intake which is 82,5%, 85,7% and 92,57 %.Conclusion: Nutritional care produces a positive influence on NS patients at Dr. Moch Shaleh Probolinggo Regional Public Hospital. Providing education to patients and patients' families by nutritionists needs to be done regularly so that patients have the motivation to run a given diet properly. Keywords Nefrotik Syndrome, nutritional status, nutritional care, disease progression

Abstract

Background: Malaria eradication by 2030 is the UN's third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). However, malaria still poses a severe threat to public health, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, which includes The Gambia. The present study explores the factors that impact malaria transmission among artisanal small-scale miners (ASSM) in three districts in the West Coast Region of The Gambia: Kombo East, Kombo Central, and Kombo South. Methods: The researchers carried out a cross-sectional study using one hundred participants from the study area. Using a logistic regression model, the researchers looked at risk variables linked to malaria incidence in the Kombos. Results: Age (Adjusted Prevalence Ratio (APR) = 7.989 with 95% Confidence Interval (CI 1.724–37.002) and the existence of mosquito breeding places (APR = 7.685 with 95% Confidence Interval (CI 1.502–39.309) were shown to be risk variables for malaria in the multivariable analysis. On the other hand, protective factors included higher education level (APR = 0.104 with 95% CI 0.027-0.403), using insect repellents (APR = 0.138 with 95% CI 0.035-0.549), and the state of inside home walls (APR = 0.145 with 95% CI 0.0414-0.511). Conclusions: According to this study's findings, the Gambia's malaria risk variables include age and the presence of mosquito breeding grounds. In addition, having greater knowledge, using insect repellents, and having well-maintained interior walls are all protective factors against malaria. In order to eradicate malaria in Gambia's mining regions, it is strongly advised to decrease risk factors and increase prevention measures through effective communication, information, and education.

Methods: This research is an analytical research with a cross-sectional design which was carried out in Sukorambi Village, from June to December 2022. The samples of this research are 142 people, obtained from a proportional stratified random sampling technique and represented groups of farmers in each hamlet. In this case, the research variables include age, frequency of pesticide spraying, as well as the incidence of MCI in vegetable farmers and their wives. Data were further collected through direct interviews, which were then analyzed through bivariate analysis using Spearman and paired t tests. Results: The results showed that the majority of vegetable farmers were above 55 years old and most of them sprayed pesticides for 3-4 and 5-6 times a month. Most farmers and their wives experience MCI. Conclusion: The farmer's age and the frequency of spraying pesticides are related to the incidence of MCI in farmers. There is a significant difference between the incidence of MCI in vegetable farmers and their wives, where MCI is more experienced by vegetable farmer wives.

Abstract

Introduction: The safety aspects of working on the sea which have not been properly implemented by fishermen have resulted in a high fatality rate in the fisheries sector. The dynamic conditions of the south coast sea waves in Jember Regency and the lack of understanding of safety by fishermen have caused several accidents which resulted in work fatalities. The research team viewed that the OSH problems faced by fishing communities need to be studied further. The purpose of this study was to examine the safety aspects of fishing vessels and describe the safety aspects of sailing based on individual characteristics. Method: This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. Respondents in this study were 260 small-scale fishermen and 24 boats. The research variables are the characteristics of the respondents and sailing safety aspects. Results: The safety aspects of fishermen are at an unsafe level with a tendency for unsafe behavior to be carried out by fishermen who have worked for more than 11 years with a working duration of more than 9 hours and most of them come from Puger Beach. Conclusion: The characteristics of Puger Beach, which has high waves with strong currents, cause many work accidents, so it needs support from the government to improve the work safety aspects of the fishermen by providing sailing safety training and appropriate PPE.
