Abstract

The Dutch East Indies Government's prejudice of the rise of Islamic unity from the indigenous people who could defect to oppose the government made a number of native organizations' activities closely monitored. One of them happened to the Muhammadiyah Scouting organization which was suspected of having a pan-Islamic direction which in the future would have the potential to oppose the government. This phenomenon is based on the flourishing of various scouting organizations in the Dutch East Indies and then the background of the events of nationalism and unity. For this reason, this research will analyze the extent of the orientation of the Muhammadiyah scouting movement during the colonial period in the period 1918-1942. In addition, how was the government prejudiced against Muhammadiyah's scouting activities? This research uses a social approach based on the historical method. The sources used in this research include the archives of the colonial government and Muhammadiyah Scouting. The results of this study show that the Muhammadiyah scouting movement, in this case Hizbul Wathan, has an orientation to educate Muhammadiyah youth, but at the same time equipping them with Islamic teaching which is an important difference compared to other scouting movements. The activities carried out by Hizbul Wathan did not show pan-Islamic activities or tendencies towards rebellion despite the government's strict supervision. However, the influence of other youth organizations that consolidated their power made the government wary and took a number of actions to ban scouting activities including Hizbul Wathan activities. The findings of this research contribute to filling the space in the study of Muhammadiyah history in the field of youth and are expected to arouse the spirit of nationalism and nationalism through the scouting movement among Indonesian youth

Abstract

Home ownership backlog is still a serious problem in Indonesia, especially among low-income people. This study aims to analyze the effect of regional macro variables on the backlog of home ownership in Indonesia in 2024. The method used is robust MM-estimation regression with a unit of analysis of 38 provinces. The data used are secondary data from the BPS Statistics and the Ministry of PUPR. The independent variables include population density, Construction Cost Index (IKK), poverty rate, and unemployment rate (TPT). Based on the research results, population density, IKK and the poverty rate have a significant effect on backlog, while the unemployment rate has no significant effect. Based on the research that has been done, controlling population density and construction cost efficiency need to be prioritized in reducing backlog, as well as expanding housing subsidies for low-income people as a long-term solution.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of intervention models employed by Islamic philanthropic organizations in Indonesia to economically empower women. Using a qualitative approach that integrates case studies, expert interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis, the research examines programs led by Rumah Zakat, LAZ Harapan Dhuafa, BAZNAS, and LAZISMU. Findings reveal that successful models are holistic, multidimensional, and phased, integrating Sharia-compliant financial aid (e.g., qardh al-hasan), capacity building, technical mentoring, spiritual reinforcement, and market access facilitation. Quantitative evidence, such as a 96% Women’s Participation Index (IPP), a Gender Development Index (GDI) increase to 139.32, and a BAZNAS Welfare Index (BPI) score of 0.68, demonstrates significant impacts on poverty reduction, income growth, and enhanced female agency in household decision-making. However, challenges remain in scalability, dependency mindsets, and long-term impact measurement. The study concludes that Islamic philanthropy, with its integrated ethical and spiritual framework, offers a resilient and sustainable model for women’s economic empowerment, contributing substantially to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in poverty alleviation, gender equality, and inclusive economic growth. This study contributes a refined framework for understanding the effectiveness of Islamic philanthropy, emphasizing the synergistic role of spiritual capital, digital inclusion, and ecosystem collaboration in achieving transformative women's economic empowerment.
