Abstract

Nowadays, crowdfunding is an alternative way to find funds to develop a product or service. It is no exception for game creators who want to get funds to develop the games they will create. This study is unique and was made based on a case study of Xagia Wars, a visual game created by a game creator in Jakarta called Vifth Floor. This study analyzes the motivations to increase a funder's willingness to fund a visual game project. This study used observation and netnography to get data and regression analysis to measure the motivation to fund the visual game project. The results showed that the factors that influence the funders' willingness to fund are the level of innovation of the project, reward, involvement, and support for the project. Several things need to be considered for project creators to increase the rate of successful crowdfunding. Such as the value of the reward, whether it makes people interested, a visual game must-have innovation, and invite the funders to participate in the game creation process so that funders can provide support for what is needed is not only in the form of funds. Abstract

Micro, small, and medium-sized firms (MSMEs) are required to be highly competitive so that they may thrive in unpredictable markets and contribute to economic growth despite several challenges such as financing, market access, innovation, and productivity. Through the Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) program at Parahyangan Catholic University, Batch 6, the writing team provided training (workshops) and mentoring (coaching) to MSMEs in Bandung Regency. The major goal of the SCORE program is to help SMEs in Bandung Regency enhance their competitiveness so that they may use their own resources to achieve productivity and expand their competitive edge. The workshop program is implemented with topics such as teamwork and communication, increasing business productivity, financial records, determining the cost of goods sold (HPP), the use of promotional media, and increasing marketing understanding, while personal assistance is provided through visits to MSME production sites at least three times during the program. At the end of the program, there was a rise in MSMEs' development, indicating that 100% of MSMEs had participated in the provision and execution of information boards, HPP calculations, product innovation, and optimization of social media as a promotional medium. This success can help SMEs grow their capabilities, particularly in tackling some of the issues they confront, such as marketing, productivity, accounting, and budgetary restraints. With the settlement of these issues, the next step in strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs, aided by SCORE UNPAR in Bandung Regency, may be taken.

Abstract

The number of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in West Java is constantly increasing during 2016-2021 period. Many of them are new ventures which are in the process of introducing their products or services to the market; or are developing their customer base. Previous researches find that new venture viability is determined by owner-manager’s Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy (ESE). This research aims to analyse three factors that are thought to influence ESE, namely: formal education of entrepreneurship (PFK), family support (DK), and entrepreneurial personality (EP). Furthermore, the effect of ESE to new venture viability will be tested. The samples used in this research are graduate of Bachelor of Management program, X Private University in Bandung Municipality who have undertaken Entrepreneurship courses and owned and managed his or her own business. Data is collected through close-ended questionnaires and is processed using SEM-PLS. Thereafter, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted to validate the statistical results. The research finds that: (1) EP significantly and positively affects ESE, and (2) ESE significantly and positively affects new venture viability. Keywords: entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE); entrepreneurial personality; new venture viability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between: 1) liquidity and sustainability report (SR) disclosure; 2) SR disclosure and profitability; and 3) liquidity and profitability. This quantitative study is the first study to analyze the interaction among these three variables in the context of Indonesian hotel companies. Samples involved are companies that are listed in hotel, resort, and cruise industrial classification of Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2021-2023 period. Data analysis is done using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The result shows that SR disclosure positively and significantly affects profitability. This finding supports the anticipation theory which states that there are benefits of anticipating action. Anticipation of sustainability would allow hotel companies to have lower costs related to future environmental-related regulations so that hotels can maintain more stable cash flow compared to companies who have not adapted the regulation at the current year. This finding also supports theory of corporate social responsibility (CSR) which views sustainability actions as “product” for customers and investors. These products exploit both existing and new markets and send signals of environmentally-aware perception to investors who would value the company higher. On the other hand, liquidity fails to positively affects both SR disclosure and profitability.

Abstract

Abstract

Hotels are one of the sectors that consume a tremendous amount of resources within the tourism industry. Therefore, sustainability becomes one of the concerns that needs to be taken care of. One way to communicate sustainability practices is through a Sustainability Report (SR). Previous studies on how SR affects a company’s performance show inconsistent results. Some also show that other financial factors may determine hotel companies’ performance. This research aims to analyze the effect of SR, liquidity, and firm size on Indonesian hotel companies’ performance during 2020-2022. The data is gathered through annual reports and SR published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) website. The analysis is done through descriptive statistics and multiple regression. Statistics show that SR reporting in Indonesian hotel companies is less prevalent. Regression results show that SR, liquidity, and firm size simultaneously and positively influence performance, while partially only firm size positively affects performance. In other words, SR and liquidity should be combined with excellent firm size to impact performance positively.
