Abstract

Although arts education plays a crucial role in adolescent development, formal channels often lack the time and space for in-depth practice. In Makassar, there is a need for a non-formal educational platform capable of integrating technical aspects of the arts with holistic character development. This study aims to examine the implementation of non-formal education through marching band activities at Drum Corps Makassar (DCM) in developing adolescent artistic competencies covering the cognitive, affective, psychomotor domains, and identify the factors that influence them. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through participatory observation of the practice process, in-depth interviews with coaches, administrators, parents, and players, and a study of the training program documentation. Data were analyzed descriptively and interpretively using source triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The findings indicate that DCM serves as an effective non-formal educational institution. Cognitively, adolescents demonstrated increased musical literacy and visual-spatial problem-solving skills. Effectively, they developed strong characteristics of discipline, responsibility, and teamwork. Psychomotorically, there was significant improvement in motor coordination and instrument-playing techniques. This process is supported by a structured training system, intensive coaching guidance, and a supportive social environment (peer support). This research contributes to the strengthening of non-formal education theory, which suggests that community-based activities such as marching band can be an effective alternative learning model for developing artistic competence and character in adolescents outside of formal school.

This research was carried out in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The research subjects were class VII students. I MTs Arifah Gowa, totaling 28 students. Data collection techniques are tests and observations. Data analysis uses qualitative descriptive techniques using percentage techniques. The results of the data analysis can be presented as follows: the learning results of the front roll floor exercise for class VII students. I MTs Arifah Gowa in Cycle I of 28 students reached 43% or as many as 12 students had entered the criteria for completion and 57% or as many as 16 students had criteria for not completing. In Cycle II it increased to 82% or as many as 22 students entered the criteria for completing, while as many as 18% or as many as 6 students did not complete the criteria. From the results of the data analysis above, it can be concluded that through differentiated learning it can improve learning outcomes for front roll floor exercise in class VII students. Abstract

Futsal extracurricular activities in secondary schools generally focus on mastering basic techniques, while understanding game strategy has not received optimal attention. This condition has an impact on students' limited ability to read game situations and make appropriate decisions. This Community Service activity aims to improve the understanding of futsal game strategy through video-based analysis training for students of MAN 4 Bone. The implementation method uses a participatory training and mentoring approach that includes the presentation of futsal strategy concepts, match video analysis, group discussions, and simulations of strategy implementation on the field. The activity participated in 30 students who are members of the futsal extracurricular. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of aspects of game formations, offensive and defensive transitions, and game decision-making. In addition, the level of student participation during the activity was high and the quality of the game became more structured. This activity proves that video media is effective as a learning tool for futsal strategy and has the potential to be developed as an innovative and sustainable model for school futsal development.

Abstract

Limited space, land, and school facilities and infrastructure are factors that contribute to the low level of physical fitness of students. This condition results in minimal physical activity, both in play activities and physical education learning, which ultimately can affect students' physical fitness and learning quality. This study aims to analyze the level of physical fitness of students at Satap Pulau Lantang Peo State Junior High School, Takalar Regency. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach with an ex post facto design. The research subjects were 31 students who served as both the population and the sample. Data collection was carried out through physical fitness tests and measurements using the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) published by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive percentage analysis techniques. The results showed that 2 students (6.5%) were in the good physical fitness category, 8 (25.8%) were in the moderate category, 19 (61.3%) were in the poor category, and 2 (6.5%) were in the very poor category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the level of physical fitness of students at Satap Pulau Lantang Peo State Junior High School is in the poor category. The results of this study are expected to be input for the Department of Education and related stakeholders in formulating policies and strategies to improve the quality of physical education learning in schools

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of battle rope and push up training on volleyball underarm passing ability of students at SMA Negeri 6 Takalar and to compare the effectiveness of both training methods. A quantitative approach with pre-experimental pretest-posttest design was employed. The sample consisted of 24 students divided into two groups using match ordinal pairing technique: Group A (battle rope training, n=12) and Group B (push up training, n=12). The training program was implemented over 6 weeks with a frequency of 3 times per week (16 sessions). The measurement instrument used the Brumbach underarm passing test with 20 trials. Data were analyzed using Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, Levene homogeneity test, and Welch test (equal variances not assumed). Results showed that the battle rope group experienced a mean improvement from 20.50 to 25.67 (increase of 5.17 points), while the push up group improved from 20.50 to 23.17 (increase of 2.67 points). ANOVA and Welch tests yielded F = 3.068 with significance p = 0.087 > 0.05, indicating no significant difference in effectiveness between both groups. The eta-squared value of 0.063 indicated a small effect size. It was concluded that both training methods provide positive effects on underarm passing ability; however, integration with direct technical passing practice is necessary for more optimal results.
