Abstract

This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach to explore high school students' understanding of algebraic concepts in Sungai Penuh City. The sample consists of 30 10th-grade students who were subjects of the study, assessed using a validated algebraic concept understanding test. The research process involved introducing the research objectives to the students and administering the test with adequate time. Data analysis was conducted descriptively to identify answer patterns, challenges faced by students, and the level of understanding of algebraic concepts demonstrated. Findings indicate significant challenges in students' mathematical concept comprehension, particularly in grasping basic concepts such as algebraic terms and the use of mathematical representations. To enhance students' understanding, it is recommended to implement a holistic learning approach that strengthens foundational concepts, integrates various mathematical representations, and provides direct problem-solving experiences. This research is expected to contribute to improving the effectiveness of mathematics education at the high school level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dengan menggabungkan etnomatematika dan tari sekapur sirih dalam pembelajaran transformasi geometri. Penelitian ini melibatkan 30 siswa dan 1 orang guru matematika yang mengajar di kelas X di MAN 1 Kerinci, yang dipilih berdasarkan relevansi materi yang diajarkan, yaitu transformasi geometri. Data dianalisis dengan cara deskriptif, membandingkan hasil pretes dan postes untuk melihat perubahan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Selain itu, hasil observasi dan wawancara digunakan untuk mendukung temuan dari tes dan memberikan gambaran lebih lengkap tentang efektivitas pembelajaran ini. hasil dari penelitian yang di lakukan dengan hanya melakukan 1 siklus, sudah mendapatkan hasil yang baik, ini di buktikan dengan data yang di peroleh selama penelitian dilakukan sehingga tidak perlu melakukan siklus ke 2, karena hasil dari siklus 1 dinyatakan sudah cukup baik karena siswa sudah mendaptkan nilai sesuai dengan kualifikasi nilai kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis. Siswa mendapatkan nilai yang baik di pengaruhi beberapa faktor yaitu, siswa sudah mempelajari terlebih dahulu materi transformasi geometri pada pertemuan sebelumya, siswa mendapatkan penjelasan dengan modul ajar yang di berikan, siswa melakukan latihan soal dari LKPD yang di berikan, dan di dalam LKPD tersebut sudah di cantumkan soal matematika dengan konteks tari sekapur sirih di dalamnya, siswa di perlihatkan gambar tarian sekapur sirih dengan koordinat kartesius sehingga itu mempermudah siswa mengerjakan soal yang di berikan. Penelitian di lakukan berdasarkan data yang sudah di temukan sebelumnya dengan konteks tari sekapur sirih dengan judul “Aktivitas Etnomatematika pada Tari Sekapur Sirih di Kerinci”.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify students' misconceptions on the topic of function. The research used is qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The subjects of this study were class X MIA3 selected by using purple sampling and snowball techniques. The research instrument was a written test using diagnostic test techniques for misconceptions, interviews, and observations. The qualitative data analysis techniques in this research are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. Based on the research, there are 4 students who experience misconceptions in class X MIA3 on the topic of the functions. Out of 6 indicators of misconceptions, the reasons were caused by a lack of student interest in learning, underestimating the concept of functions so that they think learning the concept of functions is very easy, embarrassed to ask questions when studying, and never repeat lessons at home so that students cannot answer questions given by the teacher.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze publications on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the integrated learning model in learning Natural Sciences (IPA) based on research journal articles from 2018 to 2023. The systematic literature review method followed the PRISMA diagram. Data were obtained from 476 national and international articles through Mendeley and Google Scholar. After the screening, 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were found as samples. The analysis showed that integrated science learning with various models effectively improves student learning outcomes. The development of modules or learning tools can also improve students' abilities and religious characters through integration at every stage of learning. Integrated science learning models such as webbed, connected, nested, and shared have been tested and proved their effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes. However, further exploration is needed regarding integrating the PBL model with the integrated learning model to implement it with better innovation. This research is expected to contribute to the development of education in the future.

Abstract

This study examines the level of mathematical problem-solving abilities among students, specifically focusing on contextual problems related to plane geometry. A qualitative method with a descriptive approach was employed, involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Problem-solving abilities were measured using a test comprising two questions. The results indicate a low level of proficiency among students of Public Junior High School 10 in Sungai Penuh City, with an average score of 22.28 and a success rate of 15.23%. These findings underscore the need for enhancing students' problem-solving skills. The critical role of teachers in the learning process and the use of effective learning media are anticipated to significantly improve students' abilities. For future research, it is recommended to conduct a deeper analysis of factors influencing these low problem-solving skills, such as curriculum, teaching methods, and the student's learning environment, and to test educational interventions that could enhance problem-solving skills.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential for students, particularly in solving complex problems in Real Analysis, as these skills foster academic growth and prepare them for professional challenges. However, many students still struggle to apply these skills effectively. Through a qualitative case study involving fifth-semester students from the Tadris Mathematics program, this research explores the students’ critical thinking demonstrate in solving Real Analysis problems, alongside the factors that support or hinder this ability. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, observations, and assessments, focusing on students' problem-solving approaches. The results indicate that while most students (62%) exhibit moderate critical thinking skills, a significant portion (38%) face challenges in developing these abilities, with none achieving high-level proficiency. Supporting factors include cognitive ability, motivation, and a conducive learning environment, while barriers include limited understanding of basic concepts, time constraints, and psychological obstacles. Students predominantly relied on procedural methods to solve problems, hindering deeper analytical thinking. The findings highlight the need for more interactive and reflective teaching methods, such as problem-based learning and group discussions, to enhance students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These insights offer valuable recommendations for improving teaching strategies in Real Analysis and contribute to advancing mathematics education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity of video tutorials based on Contextual Teaching and Learning for independent learning. To know the practicality of video tutorials based on Contextual Teaching and Learning for independent learning. To find out the effectiveness of video tutorials based on Contextual Teaching and Learning for independent learning seen from the responses of students. The type of research used in this research is research and development (Research and Development). The development model used in this research is the development model according to Isman in 2011 which consists of five stages, namely input, process, output, feedback and learning. The subjects in this study were class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungai Full in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Field trials were carried out in one class, namely class VIII D. The results showed that the validity of the media was 1.00 and the validity of the material was 1.00. Based on the results of the practicality analysis, video tutorial media based on Contextual Teaching and Learning for independent learning is said to be practical with a practical result of video tutorial media of 10.75 with a percentage of 83% in the practical category. The effectiveness of the video tutorial media developed is said to be effective for observing student learning independence. It can be seen from the students' responses to learning mathematics using video tutorial media based on Contextual Teaching and Learning for learning .independence fulfilling the "effective" criteria with a percentage value of 83% so that it can be categorized in positive response or can be said independently

Abstract

Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang semakin pesat menuntut peserta didik bukan hanya memiliki pengetahuan yang luas akan tetapi juga memiliki keterampilan yang profesional. Penggunaan media pembelajaran secara daring menggunakan Wa Grup belum memperoleh hasil yang maksimal dan media yang digunakan masih kurang menarik dan belum inovatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar berupa E-Modul Interaktif Menggunakan Sigil Pada Materi Pola Bilangan dengan menggunakan e-modul dapat mempermudah proses pembelajaran dan bisa dibawa kemana-mana agar tercapai pembelajaran yang efisien, efektif berdaya guna menarik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan Research and Development (R&D) berdasarkan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari 5 tahapan, yaitu Analisys, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik SMPN 4 Kota Sungai Penuh. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan teknik wawancara dan angket. Berdasarkan hasil dari angket yang telah diisi oleh peserta didik, hasil ini menempatkan e-modul pada kriteria praktis. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-modul menggunakan sigil pada materi pola bilangan praktis dan layak digunakan sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran.

Abstract

Banyak siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep matematika, terutama pada topik bangun datar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) yang berbasis pada kearifan lokal budaya Kerinci, yang valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual matematika siswa kelas VII pada topik tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4D, yang meliputi tahap Define, Design, Develop, dan Disseminate. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 18 siswa kelas VII di MTsS Modern Arafah, dengan 3 siswa terlibat dalam uji coba kelompok kecil dan 15 siswa dalam uji lapangan utama. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar validasi ahli, kuesioner praktikalitas, dan tes pemahaman konseptual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKPD yang dikembangkan memiliki validitas tinggi dengan skor rata-rata 3,65 (91,25%), praktikalitas tinggi dengan skor rata-rata 3,66 (91,5%), dan efektivitas sedang dengan skor N-Gain 0,40. Selain itu, 60% siswa menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman konseptual dalam kategori sedang hingga tinggi. Pengintegrasian unsur budaya lokal seperti Bilik Padi dan Masjid Kuno berhasil meningkatkan motivasi belajar, interaksi di kelas, dan membantu siswa memahami konsep matematika melalui konteks budaya yang familiar. Oleh karena itu, LKPD berbasis budaya Kerinci ini dianggap sesuai untuk digunakan sebagai bahan ajar kontekstual yang mendukung implementasi Kurikulum
