Abstract

Parenting is a form of interaction or a picture of parental attitudes and behaviour towards children by giving attention to children and providing direction so that children can achieve the things they want or achieve their developmental tasks. This study used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The determination of data sources in this study was carried out using a census sampling technique (saturated sampling). The purpose of this study was to determine the form of family parenting in the aspects of supervision or control, communication, and disciplining children with intellectual disabilities in Samata Village, Somba Opu District. The family parenting style for children with intellectual disabilities is quite good in terms of supervision and control. However, the family experienced obstacles in the aspects of communication and discipline. Parents find it difficult to build communication with children with intellectual disabilities because of the condition of children with intellectual disabilities who stammer when speaking and are not even able to speak. In the disciplinary aspect, two informants did not carry out disciplinary action because they were confused about applying schedules and rules to children with intellectual disabilities so that it was often seen that children with intellectual disabilities behaved according to good or their wish. Referring to these problems, the researcher proposes a program to increase family knowledge and skills in implementing it Good Parenting to children with intellectual disabilities through Educational Group.

Abstract

Social skills are an important aspect of children's development that affects their ability to interact, adjust and build healthy interpersonal relationships. This study aims to theoretically and empirically review children's social skills, by highlighting the process of their formation from an early age, the implications of low social skills, and the challenges faced by Generation Z children in the current social context. The method used is a literature review by analyzing various scientific journals, books, and previous research results. The results show that children's social skills are in the moderate category, with assertiveness being the weakest aspect. Factors such as parental education level, parenting, school environment and exposure to digital media play an important role in influencing the formation of social skills. Low social skills result in difficulties in interpersonal relationships, emotional instability, decreased academic performance, and increased social risks such as bullying, isolation and depression. The phenomenon of weak social ethics in some Generation Z reflects a failure in the formation of social values and skills early on. This study emphasizes the importance of synergy between families, schools and communities in strengthening children's social skills through training, character education and policies that support children's social-emotional development. Recommendations are directed at the need for sustainable social interventions and further research related to the effectiveness of social skills training programs in various social and cultural contexts.

Abstract

Cross-sector cooperation and a synergy between social service administration and public policy are necessary to reduce poverty. The purpose of this essay is to pinpoint the elements that make government, business, and civil society collaboration on poverty reduction initiatives successful. Research shows that for social programmes to be effective, new approaches are needed, such as digital technology and community-based methodologies, together with cross-level cooperation and policy alignment. The private sector offers capital and access to markets, while the public sector plays the role of regulator and enabler. Civil society mentors and empowers the community. This synergy is impeded by bureaucratic red tape, limited local competency, and policy fragmentation. However, the adoption of integrated information systems and strategic partnerships with cross-sector stakeholders may improve the long-term viability of social services and programme effectiveness. To ensure poverty reduction synergies, this study recommends harnessing digital innovation, improving human resource capabilities, and strengthening cross-sector cooperation. With long-term and effective partnerships, social activities are expected to dramatically increase community welfare and reduce extreme poverty in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the relationship between parent–child attachment and children’s social interaction in the city of Bandung, placing both within a psychosocial framework. The study employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. The study sample comprised 120 children aged 10–12 years living with their parents or primary carers, selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted via questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The parent–child attachment instrument was adapted from the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA), whilst the child social interaction instrument was developed based on indicators of communication, cooperation, empathy, participation, and self-adjustment. Reliability test results showed that the parent–child attachment instrument had a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.884 and the child social interaction instrument of 0.861. Data analysis was conducted descriptively, followed by normality tests, linearity tests, Pearson’s correlation, and simple linear regression. The research results indicate that parent–child attachment falls into the high category with an average score of 78.6 or 81.9%, whilst children’s social interaction also falls into the high category with an average score of 67.4 or 79.3%. The Pearson correlation test revealed a positive and significant relationship between parent–child attachment and children’s social interaction, with a correlation coefficient of 0.612 and a significance level of 0.000. The results of the simple linear regression indicated that parent–child attachment contributed 37.4% to children’s social interaction. From a psychosocial perspective, these findings confirm that the quality of emotional relationships within the family not only influences children’s psychological well-being but also shapes their social functioning in relation to peers and the surrounding environment. This study recommends strengthening the roles of the family, school, and helping professionals in supporting children’s social development more effectively through integrated interventions combining psychological and social aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze crisis intervention approaches in social work based on evidence based practice through a systematic review of scientific literature published between 2010 and 2025. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyses) guidelines. Data sources were obtained from international databases (Scopus, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis, ProQuest, PubMed, and Google Scholar) and national databases (Garuda and Neliti). Out of a total of 785 identified articles, 25 met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using a thematic approach. The findings reveal four major crisis intervention models commonly applied in social work practice: Roberts’ Seven Stage Crisis Intervention Model, Task Centered Practice (TCP), Crisis Oriented Family Therapy, and the Community Crisis Response Model. The Roberts model was found to be effective in reducing acute stress symptoms and enhancing individual coping skills; TCP demonstrated strengths in time efficiency and client engagement; crisis oriented family therapy successfully reduced relational conflicts; while community based models contributed to increased resilience and social solidarity. These findings underscore the importance of integrating evidence based approaches into social work education, practice, and policy development in Indonesia. Further local research is needed to adapt crisis intervention models to Indonesia’s socio cultural context, as well as to formulate national policies that establish standard operating procedures for crisis intervention across various social service settings.

Abstract

Anxiety is one of the psychological problems commonly experienced by adolescents, particularly among those who have been exposed to emotional abuse. Emotional abuse, including insults, threats, yelling, rejection, humiliation, intimidation, and persistent invalidation, can shape negative internal schemas, reduce self-esteem, and intensify fear, insecurity, and avoidance. Recent international studies published after 2023 indicate that childhood maltreatment and emotional abuse are consistently associated with adolescent anxiety, psychopathology, impaired emotion regulation, and heightened psychological distress (Hashim et al., 2024; Baldwin et al., 2024; Chen et al., 2025). This literature review examines the potential effectiveness of positive self-talk therapy in reducing anxiety among adolescents who experience emotional abuse. The review was conducted by identifying and synthesizing scientific articles, international journals, national journals, and official reports relevant to positive self-talk, adolescent anxiety, emotional abuse, coping, cognitive restructuring, and emotion regulation. The findings suggest that positive self-talk therapy may help adolescents recognize negative internal dialogue and replace it with more rational, supportive, adaptive, and goal-oriented statements. The mechanism of change is closely related to cognitive reframing, self-compassion, affect labeling, and emotion regulation, all of which are important protective processes in adolescent mental health. Therefore, positive self-talk therapy may serve as a simple, low-cost, school- and community-based psychosocial intervention to support adolescent mental health. However, further empirical studies using stronger designs, such as randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental designs with control groups, are needed to test its effectiveness specifically among adolescent victims of emotional abuse.

Abstract

Trafficking in persons, or human trafficking, is a complex form of human rights violation because it involves exploitation, violence, deception, abuse of a position of vulnerability, and weak social protection for victims. This study aims to analyze the profile of trafficking in persons in Indonesia, identify response efforts undertaken by government and non-governmental organizations, and formulate a social rehabilitation model for victims of trafficking in persons. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through documentation studies, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions with victims of trafficking in persons, victims' families, case workers, and administrators of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union (Serikat Buruh Migran Indonesia/SBMI) at the research sites. The findings show that victims of trafficking generally come from poor families, have low levels of education, face limited access to decent work, and are recruited through non-procedural channels. Victims experienced labor exploitation, physical and psychological violence, document confiscation, communication restrictions, unpaid wages, and psychosocial trauma. Current case responses remain dominated by repatriation, legal advocacy, and family reunification, while post-trauma social rehabilitation has not yet been implemented systematically. From a social work perspective, victims of trafficking require a person-in-environment approach, trauma-informed care, a rights-based approach, case management, and socio-economic reintegration. This study recommends an integrated social rehabilitation model that includes identification, comprehensive assessment, initial protection, shelter services, psychosocial support, legal assistance, health services, economic empowerment, family reunification, social reintegration, and continuous monitoring.
