Abstract

Learning evaluation is a crucial component of the educational process because it measures the success of the learning process and provides feedback for developing teaching methods. In the context of higher education, the evaluation methods implemented by lecturers not only serve as a measure of academic achievement but can also influence student learning motivation. This study aims to analyze the influence of learning evaluation methods on student learning motivation in the Character Education course in the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program at Tribuana Kalabahi University. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The study population was all 170 second-semester PGSD students. The sample was determined using proportional random sampling, with 119 respondents. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing using t-tests and F-tests. The results showed that learning evaluation methods, including independent assignments, class presentations, midterm exams (UTS), and final exams (UAS), simultaneously had a significant effect on student learning motivation. Partially, independent assignments, class presentations, and final exams significantly influenced student learning motivation, while midterm exams showed no significant effect. The coefficient of determination of 0.781 indicates that 78.1% of the variation in student learning motivation can be explained by the learning evaluation method used in this study. The findings of this study confirm that participatory learning evaluation methods that encourage active student involvement contribute significantly to increasing learning motivation compared to conventional evaluation methods. Therefore, lecturers are expected to develop more innovative and student-centered learning evaluation strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of academic advisor guidance on student satisfaction in the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program at Tribuana Kalabahi University in the 2023/2024 academic year. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample size was 113 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used simple linear regression. The results showed that academic advisor guidance had a positive and significant effect on student satisfaction, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a coefficient of determination of 38.4%. Descriptively, academic advisor guidance and student satisfaction were in the good category, although there were still weaknesses in the aspects of time availability and service accessibility. This study concludes that improving the quality of responsive and student-oriented academic advisory services is crucial in increasing student satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the increase in educational fees and the quality of educational services among the 2024–2025 cohort of students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Tribuana Kalabahi. The background of this research is based on adjustments in educational fees (tuition and credit fees) that demand improvements in professional, responsive, and timely academic service quality. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational approach. The research population consisted of 525 students, with a sample size of 84 respondents determined through the Slovin formula. Data collection utilized a five-point Likert scale questionnaire, ranging from strongly agree, agree, neutral/undecided, disagree, to strongly disagree. The data analysis techniques applied included descriptive statistical analysis, validity and reliability tests, Pearson Product-Moment correlation test, significance test (t-test), and the coefficient of determination. The results of the correlation analysis showed a coefficient value of 0.329 with a significance of 0.002 ($p < 0.05$), which means there is a positive and significant relationship between the increase in educational fees and service quality. The coefficient of determination analysis showed that the educational fees variable contributed 10.9% to service quality, while the remaining 89.1% was influenced by other factors. This study concludes that the increase in educational fees aligns with the improvement of service quality, falling within the low but definite correlation category. The university is advised to increase transparency in financial management and to continuously optimize faculty performance and academic calendar punctuality to meet student expectations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the motivation of motorcycle taxi drivers’ children to pursue higher education, to analyze the obstacles they face during their education, and to uncover the life lessons they learn in sustaining their studies. The method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach, using interviews and documentation techniques. The data sources for this study were five motorcycle taxi drivers’ children who were currently pursuing or had completed higher education, as well as their parents (motorcycle taxi drivers) who served as supporting informants. The results of this study indicate that the motivation to achieve success in higher education among motorcycle taxi drivers’ children is divided into two main forms: internal motivation and external motivation. Internal motivation includes the desire to change the family’s fate, the aspiration to obtain a better job, and the drive to make parents proud. Meanwhile, external motivation stems from family moral support, teacher encouragement, a positive social environment, and scholarships. The main supporting factors for success in higher education are family support, access to educational information, and educational assistance programs. Inhibiting factors identified include economic constraints, limited learning facilities, and social pressure to immediately work to support the family. Life lessons learned include the values of hard work, perseverance, discipline, and time management in the face of economic constraints; a never-give-up attitude in the face of academic obstacles and social pressures; and a growing sense of responsibility, independence, and commitment to completing higher education. These values shape a resilient character and strengthen motivation to achieve success in higher education.  Supporting factors for success in higher education include family support, access to educational information, and educational assistance programs. Inhibiting factors include economic constraints, limited learning facilities, and social pressures to immediately work to support the family.
