Abstract

Sembiran Village is one of the oldest villages in Bali with great potential as a cultural tourism destination, particularly through the old traditional houses that hold significant historical and cultural value. However, this potential remains underdeveloped due to inadequate infrastructure, weak promotional efforts, and suboptimal tourism management. This study aims to identify the current state of tourism in Sembiran Village and formulate development and promotional strategies for the old house as a primary tourist attraction. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation from six key informants, including village officials and tourism managers. The findings reveal that while the cultural attractions in Sembiran are strong, they are not yet supported by adequate amenities, accessibility, and ancillary services. Development strategies are directed toward cultural and environmental preservation, capacity building of human resources, strengthening institutional coordination, infrastructure improvements, and digital-based promotions. This study recommends a participatory and collaborative approach involving government, local communities, and private stakeholders to develop Sembiran Village into a sustainable and competitive cultural tourism destination.

Abstract

The rapid increase of Indian tourists in Bali has challenged star-rated hotels to deliver culturally responsive services. This study investigates how Guest Assistants at The Oberoi Beach Resort Bali manage complaints from Indian guests, who often have unique service expectations such as specific dietary preferences, extended family accommodation, and personalized attention. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, combining direct observation, in-depth interviews with the Front Office team, and analysis of internal hotel documentation. The findings reveal several challenges, including cultural misunderstandings, intense communication styles, and high demands for fast and empathetic service. To address these issues, the hotel implements the LEARN method (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve, Notify), supported by cultural sensitivity training and coordination across departments. Additionally, the use of the OPERA Cloud system allows for efficient documentation and follow-up on complaints, improving response times and personalized guest experiences. The study shows that integrating emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and technology enhances service quality. As a result, guest satisfaction and loyalty among Indian tourists significantly improve. The implications of this research suggest that culturally adaptive complaint handling strategies are essential in the competitive hospitality industry of Bali. Ultimately, the LEARN-based approach not only resolves immediate issues but also contributes to long-term guest retention and strengthens the hotel's international reputation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work culture, work motivation, and work environment on employee job satisfaction at PT PLN (Persero) Customer Service Unit (ULP) Singaraja. The phenomenon underlying this research is the mismatch between the company’s promoted work culture values and actual practices in the field, the decline in employee motivation due to heavy workloads, and the suboptimal physical work environment conditions. This research employs a quantitative approach with a survey method. The study population consists of all 121 employees of PLN ULP Singaraja, with a total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 21. The results show that work culture and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, while the work environment has a positive but insignificant effect. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect job satisfaction, with work motivation being the most dominant factor. These findings emphasize that improving employee job satisfaction is more effectively achieved through strengthening individual motivation and internalizing work culture values, accompanied by maintaining the existing work environment. This study is expected to serve as a strategic reference for management in designing policies to enhance employee well-being and productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to examine: (1) the effect of product quality on purchasing decisions, (2) the effect of ease of use on purchasing decisions, (3) the effect of trust on purchasing decisions, (4) the effect of product quality on trust, (5) the effect of ease of use on trust, (6) the mediating role of trust on the relationship between product quality and purchasing decisions, and (7) the mediating role of trust on the relationship between ease of use and purchasing decisions. The population of this study consisted of 61 fourth-semester students enrolled in the Master of Management Science Program at Ganesha University of Education. The census method was used to determine the sample, resulting in 61 participants. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results indicate that: (1) product quality has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, suggesting that higher product quality on the Shopee Marketplace increases students' purchasing decisions; (2) ease of use has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, indicating that greater ease of use enhances students' purchasing decisions; (3) trust positively and significantly affects purchasing decisions, meaning that higher trust in the Shopee Marketplace leads to higher purchasing decisions; (4) product quality positively and significantly influences trust, showing that better product quality increases students' trust; (5) ease of use positively and significantly influences trust, implying that easier use enhances students' trust; (6) trust partially mediates the effect of product quality on purchasing decisions, indicating that higher product quality increases trust, which in turn strengthens purchasing decisions; and (7) trust fully mediates the effect of ease of use on purchasing decisions, suggesting that greater ease of use enhances trust, thereby positively influencing purchasing decisions. These findings highlight the critical role of trust as a mediator between product quality, ease of use, and purchasing decisions in the context of the Shopee Marketplace.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of work motivation and work environment on employee performance, with job satisfaction serving as a mediating variable at PT Kona Bay Indonesia, a global aquaculture breeding enterprise. The research employs a quantitative approach using primary data collected through structured questionnaires distributed to employees. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS 4 software to test both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results reveal that work motivation and work environment each have positive and significant effects on job satisfaction and employee performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction has a strong and significant impact on employee performance, acting as a partial mediator between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The mediation test using the Variance Accounted For (VAF) method shows that job satisfaction explains 39.51% of the effect of work motivation on performance and 41.14% of the effect of work environment on performance, confirming partial mediation in both relationships. These findings highlight that motivated employees who operate in a supportive work environment tend to experience higher job satisfaction, which subsequently enhances their productivity and overall performance. The study contributes theoretically by validating the mediating role of job satisfaction and practically by emphasizing the importance of motivational programs and workplace improvements to strengthen employee engagement and performance.

Abstract

The informal tourism sector plays a vital role in the local economies, particularly in destinations such as Bali. This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8, which focuses on promoting decent work and economic growth. These workers, who are often ignored, greatly enrich the experience of tourism but encounter distinct obstacles on a daily basis. Gaining insight into their methods for staying alive is crucial. Informal workers face distinct limits compared to formal sector employees, resulting in less defined sustainability and growth strategies. A thorough investigation was carried out in nine regencies in Bali, utilizing observations and interviews, in order to examine these tactics. This method facilitated a comprehensive comprehension of their day-to-day routines and difficulties. The study identified four crucial survival strategies: implementing prudent financial management to sustain businesses and meet daily needs, utilizing communication skills to maintain income and continuity, enhancing social capital through positive relationships with fellow workers, and comprehending government policies. Out of these factors, effectively managing economic capital is crucial for maintaining livelihoods in the fiercely competitive tourism business. The results of this study provide a basis for future policies or interventions aimed at supporting and enhancing the lives of informal sector workers in tourist areas such as Bali.
