Abstract

Women play a significant role in the tourism industry in Bali and Jakarta. Disparities persist in access, leadership, and wages despite their high involvement in hotels, MICE, the creative economy, and micro-enterprises. This study aims to compare the roles of women in Bali and Jakarta, identify factors influencing their involvement, and assess adaptation strategies to work and domestic demands. The study employed mixed methods. Quantitative data were obtained through surveys of hotel managers in Bali and Jakarta. Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with hotel managers and observations of operational activities. Women in Bali are more dominant in the creative economy sector, with strong local community support. Women in Jakarta are more likely to work in the formal sector, with broader access to training but still face barriers to promotion to managerial positions. Wage inequality persists in both regions. Women embrace flexible working hours, family support, and business diversification to maintain economic stability. These findings underscore the need for gender-friendly tourism policies, expanded access to professional training, provision of childcare services, and increased women's involvement in tourism decision-making. This study contributes to gender and tourism studies by integrating social capital and economic resilience perspectives in a cross-context urban-cultural comparison.

Abstract

This study seeks to identify strategic themes, assess the incorporation of local values, and create a knowledge map derived from scientific literature pertaining to the administration of Penglipuran Tourism Village. This study employed a qualitative systematic review technique to assess 15 selected scientific articles published from 2015 to 2025. The study identified three primary findings: firstly, the literature reveals five strategic themes in the management of Penglipuran Tourism Village, which include the preservation of local wisdom, collaborative governance, environmental conservation, community participation, and marketing strategies grounded in legal certification. Secondly, native values such as awig-awig and Tri Hita Karana have been harmoniously incorporated into the village's regulations, social life, and economics, despite ongoing structural obstacles. The knowledge map offered an adjustable and scalable strategic framework that prioritizes cultural digitalization, community empowerment, and cross-sector collaboration for the creation of sustainable tourism villages. The research underscores the significance of multi- stakeholder engagement, digital innovation, and localized HR training as essential components for sustainability. The results are anticipated to provide a practical reference for policymakers, scholars, and managers of tourist villages in the development of culture-based and sustainable tourism models.

Abstract

Green communication is one of the crucial things in realizing an environmentally friendly concept in the hotel industry because the environmentally friendly concept is not only about the natural environment but also how humans communicate well and effectively to start ecologically friendly programs. This research explores the application of green communication. It was carried out by front office staff at New Sunari Lovina Bali Resort, which aims to make communication more effective in transmitting the work obtained and to impact how employees view environmentally friendly management. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis using descriptive qualitative research methods. These findings show that New Sunari Lovina Beach Resort has implemented green actions, starting with cooperation, coordination, communication, comfort, and problem-solving. Though, implementing green communication at the front office of New Sunari Lovina Bali Resort also faces several obstacles. Lack of staff awareness of sustainable principles, lack of clarity regarding concrete benefits, and operational constraints such as the availability of resources and technology are challenges that must be overcome. The results of this study provide an essential basis for developing effective, sustainable communication strategies in dealing with environmental issues.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively explore the implementation of good governance principles and identify the enablers and barriers of governance capacity in Baktiseraga Village, Buleleng Regency. Amidst the widespread phenomenon of village fund misallocation at the local level, Baktiseraga Village emerges as a high-performing entity that warrants deep investigation. By integrating Stakeholder Theory to analyze the Pentahelix actors and the Governance Capacity Framework (GCF) for systemic dimensions, this qualitative study employs an in-depth case study design. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with 15 key informants, non-participant observations, and documentation studies, which were then analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The GCF scoring results demonstrate that Baktiseraga Village has successfully achieved a highly optimal transformative capacity level (score ++) in granular information transparency, inclusive accountability, and organic public participation with zero transaction costs by revitalizing the cultural value of ngayah. However, administrative gaps in formal authority and the institutionalization of innovation that remains person-centric pose potential barriers. This study concludes that the governance model of Baktiseraga Village represents a valid best practice in local public administration, offering a strategic recommendation to codify these innovations into Village Regulations.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to empirically examine the effect of word of mouth, complaint handling, and service quality on customer loyalty at Salon Surya in Singaraja. This research employs a quantitative method with a cross-sectional survey technique. The population consists of customers of Salon Surya in Singaraja, with a sample of 160 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that word of mouth, complaint handling, and service quality have a significant effect on customer loyalty, both partially and simultaneously, with service quality emerging as the most dominant variable in enhancing customer loyalty, while word of mouth and complaint handling also contribute positively. Theoretically, this study demonstrates that these three variables play important roles in enhancing customer loyalty in the beauty service industry and enriches the existing literature by emphasizing the dominance of service quality, supported by effective complaint handling and positive word of mouth. Practically, the findings provide valuable implications for the beauty service industry, particularly for Salon Surya in Singaraja, suggesting that improving service quality should be the primary strategy to enhance customer loyalty, accompanied by effective complaint handling and the encouragement of positive word of mouth to strengthen customer relationships and improve business performance. However, this study is limited to a single research location and focuses only on three independent variables, namely word of mouth, complaint handling, and service quality.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of the digital economy and fintech infrastructure has fundamentally restructured the consumption patterns of university students, leading to a rise in credit-enabled advanced consumption. This research aims to investigate the determinants of advanced consumption behavior by integrating cognitive financial assets and psychological self-regulation mechanisms. Specifically, the study examines the influence of financial literacy and digital financial competency on advanced consumption, with self-control serving as a potential mediating variable. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to analyze data collected from university students. The empirical results demonstrate that both financial literacy and digital financial competency exert a significant negative influence on advanced consumption behavior. Notably, digital financial competency emerged as a more potent predictor, suggesting that in a platform-mediated economy, the ability to navigate digital choice architecture is a critical deterrent to excessive spending. Furthermore, the analysis reveals that self- control significantly mediates the relationship between these financial capabilities and consumption outcomes. Approximately 39% of the impact of financial knowledge on reducing debt-funded consumption is transmitted through the strengthening of internal regulatory mechanisms. These findings underscore the necessity of a holistic approach to financial education. Beyond traditional numeracy, academic and policy interventions should prioritize critical digital literacy and the development of psychological resilience. Strengthening the "cognitive shield" of digital competency and the "behavioral filter" of self-control is essential to safeguard students from the systemic risks of a frictionless credit environment and to ensure long-term financial well-being in the digital era.

Abstract

The increasingly fierce competition in the laundry service industry requires business operators to retain customers by delivering quality service and building relationships based on trust. Customer loyalty is a crucial factor for business sustainability, particularly for laundry businesses that depend on repeat purchases and recommendations from customers. However, loyalty does not form instantly, as it is affected by customer experiences while using the service, including their perception of service quality and level of trust in the service provider. This situation highlights the need for empirical testing of factors that affect customer loyalty at Melia Laundry in Denpasar City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, distributing questionnaires to customers at three Melia Laundry branches. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) to test both direct and indirect effects among variables. The results show that service quality has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Customer trust is also shown to have a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. In addition, customer satisfaction serves as a partial mediating variable in the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty, and between customer trust and customer loyalty. These findings confirm that enhancing customer loyalty can be achieved by improving service quality and strengthening customer trust, which in turn fosters ongoing customer satisfaction.
