Abstract

Grammar Instruction in MAN Kota Blitar especially in class XI IPS 2 is not satisfactory. Because of that reason, the reserchers conducted a classroom action research to investigate 35 learners’ Grammar improvement of conditional sentence by using quizizz platform. The procedures of this research included: Planning, Acting, Observing, and Evaluating. For gaining the data, the researchers used Test and Questionnaire.The finding revealed that the Quizizz platform could enhance the stuudents’ achievement as well as gained positive views from students. Therefore, the researchers suggest the English teachers to use Quizizz Platform for creating joyful learning in or outside of the classroom.

Abstract

Tik-Tok Application is one of application that are great demand by people in this digital Era, no exception for the children in Elementary school. This study examined about how the students’ vocabulary score before and after taught by using the Tik-Tok application and whether there was any significant difference of students’ score before and after taught by using Tik-tok application. The researcher used the method of pre-experimental design using one group pretest-posttest with quantitative approach. The instrument used to obtain the data was test. The hypothesis itself was tested by using T-test technique. From the data obtained, the average total score of students' vocabulary mastery before taught by using the Tik-Tok application was 55.00 and the average score of students’ vocabulary mastery after taught by using the Tik-Tok application was 86.87. Statistical calculations using T-test have shown the results of tcount (14,586) and the result of ttable for standard 0.050% is 2.03951. It is known that tcount is higher than ttable (14.586 > 2.03951). The alternative hypothesis is accepted, and the null hypothesis is rejected. Based on the result of this research, the students’ score of vocabularies were increase from 55,00 to 86,87. Then the second result is, there were significant differences scores, between before and after receiving treatment by using the Tik-Tok application. So, Tik-tok application is effective for the teacher who want to increase the students’ English vocabularies mastery.

Abstract

This study aims at seeing process freshmen of English Department students at Balitar Islamic University improve their English speaking proficiency implementing communicative approach as the teaching teachniques. This study implemented classroom action research, and was conducted for one semester in the academic year 2014/2015. Improvements were focused on fluency, accuracy and cohesiveness involving 26 subjects.  Conducted in two cycles that succesviley involved research procedures on planning, acting, observing, and reflection, this study revealed the following findings.  First,  speaking fluency of the learners increases from 65% in the first cycle into 85% in the second cycle.  Second, speaking accuracy improves from 68% in the first cycle into 88% in the second cycle.  Third, cohesiveness of uttarences imoproves from 70% in the first cycle into 86% in the sevond cycle.

Abstract

This research aimed to boost the grammar mastery of 24 students, particularly Passive voices using the Quizizz application and to discover their reactions to the usage of that platform for learning and assessing Passive Voices at a Private University in Blitar. This research used a classroom action research design with the following procedures: planning, acting, observing and evaluating, and reflecting. The research results revealed that the usage of the Quizizz application increased the mastery of passive voices of 24 students from 54.75 in the Pre-action Test to 87.25 on the post-action test. Furthermore, the respondents responded positively toward the usage of the Quizizz platform to learn and assess Passive Voices. Referring to the findings, we can sum up that using the Quizizz Application in Passive Voice learning is extremely beneficial in improving the students' learning outcomes since the students can learn passive voice material such as they are playing games anywhere and anytime. Therefore, the researchers suggest that teachers or lecturers may apply this application to their classrooms to make fun and enjoyable learning for the students.

Abstract

This Research and development are intended to establish the digital module for helping the seventh-grade students to write descriptive text easily, to find out the validity of the digital module for assisting the seventh-grade students to write descriptive text as well as to investigate the teachers’ and students’ responses toward the developed digital module for writing descriptive text instruction. This study adapted Sugiyono's concepts which cover: analyzing potentials, problems and solutions, Design and development, Experts Validation and revision, Teachers’ and students’ perception, evaluation and revision, and Final product and publication. The results of this research revealed that 1) the developed digital module consisted of six units: 1) Introduction of Descriptive Text, 2) Let's Learn Vocabulary of Descriptive Text, 3) Let's Learn Grammar for Writing Descriptive Text, 4) Process of Writing Descriptive Text, 5 Let's Practice of Writing Descriptive Text, and 6) Evaluation. Furthermore, the digital module was also completed with worksheets, and manual guidelines for teachers and students, (2) The developed digital module was valid, as shown by the result of the average of the experts’ material validation =93, 3% (very valid), and the average result of media experts’ validation = 88, 9% (very valid), and (3) The developed digital module for learning writing of descriptive text got positive responses from teachers and students. It was supported by the result of the questionnaire given to the teachers = 86, 49% (very good) and the students = 87, 15% (very good). From the result above it is suggested for the teachers to apply this developed digital module as supplementary materials to complete the book provided by the government.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to establish the model of hand puppet video for teaching and learning speaking in Senior High school that focused on narrative text, to discover the feasibility of hand puppet video for teaching and learning speaking, and to know the teacher’s and student’s responses toward the use of hand puppet video for teaching and learning speaking in senior high school. This study adapted Sugiyono's models that include some steps such as: analyzing potentials, problems, and solutions, Design and development, Experts Validation and revision, Teachers’ and students’ perception, evaluation and revision, and Final product and publication. The finding of this research showed that 1) the developed hand puppet video for teaching learning speaking covered three parts, they were; part 1 (introduction), part 2 (video), and part 3 (exercise) with additional setting features. Part 1 (introduction) consists of a description, material of the narrative text, how to play, and references, Part 2 (video) consists of the narrative stories video in the forms of legend and fable, and Part 3 (exercise) in the form of Retelling the story with the student’s own word. Furthermore, The Hand Puppet Video is also completed with three guide books they are for teachers, students, and the public users 2) The Model Hand Puppet Video was valid to be used as media for teaching and learning speaking n Senior High School, it was revealed by the validation average results from material experts 81, 3 % (very valid) and media experts 88.5% (Very Valid). 3) The teachers and Students showed very positive responses toward the developed product as it is proved by the average results of the questionnaire given to teachers= 87.2% (Very positive), and students’ responses of 87.75% (Very Positive). Referring to the findings, it is suggested for the teachers and students to use the developed product as media for teaching and learning to speak of narrative text in senior high school.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to enhance the students’ writing of recount texts especially personal recounts by applying Padlet and to know their responses to the use of Padlet as a medium to learn and evaluate recount text especially personal recounts at a private university in Blitar. The researchers utilized classroom action research, which covered four steps; 1) planning, 2) acting, 3) observing and evaluating, and 4) reflecting. Tests and questionnaires were utilized to gain the data. The research results proved that the use of Padlet as a medium to learn the writing of recounts text could enhance the students' learning outcomes from the preliminary test by 59.84, increasing to 81.26 in the post-test. Furthermore, the students also presented a positive attitude toward the use of Padlet in teaching and learning writing of personal recounts text. Based on the findings, teachers may choose to use Padlet as an alternative tool for creating a creative wall of materials as well as assessing the students when instructing writing.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian Masyarakat dengan tema “Belajar Vocabulary secara menyenangkan melalui Aplikasi Memrise dan Quizlet di English Conversation Club (ECC) MAN Kota Blitar” bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan Vocabulary 40 siswa ECC MAN Kota Blitar khususnya’ Vocabulary of Describing person dan Vocabulary of Describing Place yang masih sangat kurang. Berdasarkan hasil Pre-test yang dilaksanakan pada hari Selasa tanggal 19 April 2022 diketahui bahwa penguasaan vocabulary siswa terkait materi tersebut masih kurang memuaskan, yaitu 57.55 Nilai tersebut masih jauh dari KKM 75.00. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pengabdi setiap hari Kamis, jam 14.00-15.30 dari tanggal 12 Mei sampai 16 Juni 2022 yang bertempat di English Corner MAN Kota Blitar dengan prosedur sebagai berikut: 1) Identifikasi masalah dengan melalui observasi, wawancara dan Pre-test, 2) Persiapan pelaksanaan, 3) Pelaksanaan yaitu Pembelajaran vocabulary melaui aplikasi Memrise dan Quizlet 4) Evaluasi/ Post-test, dan, 5) Evaluasi dengan Pihak Mitra, dan 6) Refleksi. Setelah diadakan kegiatan tersebut terdapat peningkatan penguasaan vocabulary siswa dari rerata 57.55 ke 84.38 Dari hasil tersebut, pengabdi menyarankan agar siswa bisa memanfaatkan aplikasi Memrise dan Quizlet ini untuk belajar vocabulary secara menyenangkan dg topik lainnya misalnya untuk belajar vocabulary tentang kithen action verbs yang akan sangat mendukung saat mereka belajar procedure text

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is a Research and Development adapted Sugiyono’s procedures which ssssss Potential and problem detection as well solution proposed, product design and development, experts’ validation and revision, targeted users’ responses, evaluation and revision, and final product and publication, This research is intended to develop Wayang as a medium for mastering speaking skills especially for assisting X-grade students in practicing storytelling as well as knowing the feasibility of the developed product and gaining targetetted users’ responses toward the developed product. The research subjects were 20 students and 5 English teachers from various senior high schools in Blitar Regency. The results of the study revealed that; (1) The developed storytelling model consists of 5 stories, 20 wayang characters, and 15 properties, equipped with 2 guidebooks for teachers and students. (2) The product (Wayang) which was developed as a learning medium is valid (87%) to be applied in speaking instruction, especially storytelling and (3) Students and teachers also presented positive responses toward wayang as a learning medium in speaking especially storytelling in which sshowed from the results of the questionnaire got 83% ( very Positive) from the students and 92% (Very positive) from the teachers. From the results above, it can be concluded that the developed storytelling with wayang is very valid and feasible to be applied as an alternative medium in learning to speak, especially storytelling in class X of Senior high school.

Abstract

This research employed a quantitative research method to investigate the effectiveness of Padlet utilization in enhancing the reading skills of tenth-grade students in comprehending recount texts at a vocational school. The quantitative approach allowed for the collection of numerical data that was analyzed using statistical techniques to determine the impact of the instructional intervention. Specifically, a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design were employed, with data collected through validated and reliable tests. The statistical analysis involved the use of paired sample T-tests with SPSS 22 to compare the participants' pre-test and post-test scores. The significance level was set at p < 0.05 to determine the effectiveness of Padlet in boosting the reading skills of the students. Based on the result, English teachers are encouraged to incorporate the Padlet application into teaching practice to boost students’ learning outcomes and improve their engagement in learning. Further study is needed to find out the efficacy of Padlet compared to other digital interactive boards such as Lino, Wakelet, Dotstorming, and others.
