Abstract

Vocabulary learning is a fundamental component of language mastery, as it underpins students’ ability to communicate effectively and comprehend texts. With the rapid advancement of technology, Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) has emerged as an innovative approach that enables flexible, accessible, and interactive learning experiences. However, despite its potential benefits, many university students still face challenges in expanding their English vocabulary due to limited study time, low motivation, and the lack of engaging learning resources. This study aims to explore university students’ experiences in learning English vocabulary through MALL. Employing a qualitative exploratory design, ten students from the Management Study Program at on of the private universities in Indonesia who were enrolled in an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course participated in the research. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and participatory observations, then analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns and themes. The findings revealed five main themes: (1) flexibility of time and place in learning, (2) increased motivation and engagement through gamified features, (3) independent learning strategies in vocabulary acquisition, (4) technical challenges and digital distractions, and (5) the need for support from lecturers and the academic environment. Students valued the flexibility and autonomy MALL offered, as well as the motivation gained from interactive and gamified elements. Nevertheless, issues such as unstable internet connections and distractions from social media often hindered learning consistency. The study concludes that MALL enhances flexibility, motivation, and learner autonomy in vocabulary learning, yet its effectiveness depends on students’ self-discipline and institutional support. It underscores the essential role of lecturers in guiding and integrating MALL effectively into classroom instruction.

Abstract

Emotional Artificial Intelligence (Emotional AI) is reshaping the landscape of language education by offering learners not only cognitive assistance but also emotional support. In Islamic university contexts, where politeness, respect, and affective sensitivity play essential roles in the learning process, the emotional qualities embedded in tools such as ChatGPT present new pedagogical possibilities. This qualitative study investigates the emotional support provided by ChatGPT during English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning among Islamic university students and examines their perceptions of ChatGPT as an Emotional AI tool in relation to learning enjoyment, self-efficacy, and resilience. The data were collected from 12 EFL students and three lecturers through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and classroom observations. Thematic analysis was employed to identify recurring patterns related to students’ affective experiences and interpretations of ChatGPT’s emotional responses. The findings revealed that students perceived ChatGPT as a reassuring, patient, and non-judgmental companion that reduces anxiety, encourages risk-taking, and supports emotional stability during challenging learning tasks. Students also perceived ChatGPT as enhancing their learning enjoyment, improving their self-efficacy through personalized scaffolding, and strengthening their resilience by promoting a sense of safe failure and continued effort. Despite these benefits, some expressed ambivalence regarding the authenticity of AI-generated empathy and concerns about over-reliance on emotional AI. Overall, the study highlights the dual cognitive–emotional role of ChatGPT in EFL learning and underscores the importance of integrating Emotional AI thoughtfully in Islamic university settings to maximize affective and academic benefits.

Abstract

This study explores the use of the Teachy application to enhance grammar assessment among eleventh-grade students at SMAN 1 Blitar. Addressing the limitations of traditional paper-based tests, this qualitative single-case study involved one English teacher and five students selected through purposive and snowball sampling. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model combined with grounded theory coding. The findings indicate that Teachy supports effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of grammar assessment; aligns with curriculum objectives and Bloom’s Taxonomy; and provides instant feedback. Despite challenges related to internet access, device availability, and digital skills, Teachy increased student engagement and interactivity in grammar learning.

Abstract

Kepuasan pengunjung merupakan faktor penting dalam menjaga kualitas dan keberlanjutan destinasi pariwisata religi. Penelitian ini menganalisis kepuasan pengunjung terhadap fasilitas religius dan pelayanan takmir di Masjid Ar-Rahman sebagai destinasi wisata religi berbasis masjid nonkomersial. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan data survei skala Likert dari 100 responden yang dipilih melalui teknik accidental sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kepuasan terhadap fasilitas berada pada kategori sangat tinggi (M = 4,62), terutama pada aspek kebersihan dan kenyamanan ruang sholat serta ketersediaan perlengkapan ibadah. Sementara itu, kepuasan terhadap pelayanan takmir tergolong tinggi (M = 3,90), dengan aspek keramahan dan sikap membantu memperoleh nilai tertinggi, sedangkan kejelasan informasi dan kecepatan respons masih perlu ditingkatkan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi antara kualitas fasilitas fisik dan pelayanan interpersonal berperan penting dalam menciptakan kenyamanan serta pengalaman spiritual pengunjung wisata religi. Penelitian ini berkontribusi dalam pengembangan kajian wisata religi berbasis masjid, khususnya pada destinasi religi nonkomersial.

Abstract

This review synthesizes empirical studies published between 2014 -2025 to examine reading comprehension challenges among EFL/ESL learners and the impact of the use of reading strategies the findings reveal that learners face multiple challenges, including limited vocabulary, grammatical difficulties, weak reading process skills, cognitive comprehension issues, psychological and motivational barriers, inadequate instructional support, text complexity, and ineffective strategy use. the review also shows that various reading strategies, such as metacognitive, cognitive, collaborative, technology-supported, guided, and integrated approaches, significantly enhance comprehension, self-regulation, and engagement when implemented through explicit instruction and scaffolded support. However, their effectiveness varies depending on individual differences, including motivation, proficiency level, and cultural background, as well as instructional quality. These findings highlight the importance of developing learner-centered, contextually responsive reading programs that promote autonomy and critical literacy, while future research should examine long-term and differentiated instructional models.

Abstract

Pelatihan Intermediate English Grammar di English Conversation Club (ECC) MAN Kota Blitar diadakan karena siswa ECC di MAN Kota Blitar memiliki penguasaan Intermediate English Grammar yang masih kurang. Berdasarkan hasil pre-test yang diadakan pada tanggal 14 Februari 2020, diperoleh hasil rata-rata yang tidak memuaskan yaitu 55.76. Grammar merupakan sub skill penting untuk membantu siswa dalam menulis atau berbicara dalam Bahasa Inggris secara tepat, oleh karena itu penulis merasa perlu membantu siswa tersebut agar memiliki penguasaan Intermediate English Grammar yang baik. Sebagai wujud pengabdian penulis kepada masyarakat, maka Penulis mengadakan Pelatihan Intemediate English Grammar dengan menggunakan  Blended Learning yang dilaksanakan setiap hari Jumat mulai tanggal 14 Februari – 13 Maret 2020 di Aula English Corner MAN Kota Blitar, yang dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan Group WhatsApp (20 Maret-17 April 2020). Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 50 siswa ECC MAN Kota Blitar  dengan tertib. Setelah Siswa ECC MAN Kota Blitar  mendapatkan pelatihan, penguasaan Grammar mereka meningkat menjadi  85.52. Dari hasil tersebut penulis berharap siswa ECC MAN Kota Blitar bisa mengaplikasikan ilmu yang mereka dapat melalui pelatihan tersebut untuk menulis atau berbicara Bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan Grammar yang tepat

Abstract

Pengabdian Masyarakat “Peningkatan Grammar parts of speech dengan menggunakan aplikasi Quizizz di MAN Kota Blitar” dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan grammar siswa di MAN Kota Blitar Khususnya Noun, Pronouns, Adjectives, Verbs, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions, dan Interjections yang masih  kurang. Berdasarkan hasil Pre-test yang dilaksanakan pada hari Kamis, 19 Agustus 2021 diketahui bahwa  penguasaan Grammar (Parts of speech) siswa di MAN Kota Blitar yaitu 61. 81. Nilai tersebut masih rendah dibandingkan standard minimal pencapaian  siswa yaitu (75.00). Pelatihan  ini  dilaksanakan  setiap hari Kamis mulai tanggal  19 Agustus 2021  sampai dengan  21 Oktober 2021 yang bertempat di  MAN Kota Blitar dan diikuti oleh 47 siswa.  Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan dengan  langkah langkah sebagai berikut: Pre-test, Pelatihan Grammar Parts of Speech yang  terdiri dari 8 meeting dengan menggunakan aplikasi Quizizz, Post-test, dan pemberian Reward dan Sertifikat bagi 6 siswa terbaik dalam Pelatihan. Hasil dari Pelatihan ini telah mampu meningkatkan penguasaan grammar parts of speech siswa dari 61.81 ke 83.36. dari hasil tersebut penulis menyarankan agar guru dan siswa  bisa memakai Aplikasi Quizizz untuk mengajar atau  belajar Bahasa Inggris Khususnya Grammar dengan menyenangkan baik  di sekolah maupun di rumah.

Abstract

Kegiatan PKM ini dilaksanakan dalam rangka meningkatkan keterampilan Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas 6 SDN Bunul Rejo 6 Kota Malang melalui metode pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan lagu dan cerita rakyat Indonesia yang diterjemahkan kedalam Bahasa Inggris. Kegiatan PKM ini berbasis tindakan kelas yang dilakukan pada 20 siswa SD kelas 6. Hasil pre-test kegiatan PKM ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan kosa kata siswa sangat rendah dengan nilai rata-rata 59.5. Sedangkan, hasil post-test siswa menunjukkan nilai rata-rata 78.75. Ini menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan kosa kata siswa meningkat secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan pencapaian mereka di test awal. Hasil kegiatan PKM ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis lagu dan cerita rakyat dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa Inggris siswa. Oleh karena itu, tim PKM merekomendasikan bahwa guru harus mempertimbangkan penggunaan kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis lagu dan cerita rakyat untuk mengembangkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris siswanya.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat yang diprakasai oleh Perpustakaan Bung Karno, Blitar pada bulan November 2022, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan generasi muda Kota Blitar dalam memahami kehidupan Soekarno dalam Bahasa Inggris melalui aplikasi Memrise. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 22 peserta dari sebuah perguruan tinggi di Blitar. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terdiri dari 1) mengadakan pre-test, 2) implementasi pengajaran kosakata terkait kehidupan Soekarno di Hoogere Burgerschool (HBS) dengan Memrise, dan 3) melakukan post-test. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan terhadap penguasaan vocabulary peserta dari 45% pada pre-test menjadi 77% pada post-test.Dari hasil tersebut, penulis merekomendasikan agar pengajar meamanfaatkan teknologi, seperti aplikasi Memrise untuk mendukung pembelajaran bahasa dan sejarah khususnya kosakata. Keberhasilan pengabdian masyarakat ini juga menggarisbawahi pentingnya kolaborasi antara lembaga pendidikan dan masyarakat dalam mencapai tujuan bersama untuk meningkatkan pemahaman sejarah nasional dan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris di tingkat lokal.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The advancement of digital technology requires teachers to effectively integrate online learning media and social media into their instructional practices. However, at the primary school level, there are still limitations in digital literacy as well as a lack of integrated and sustainable training programs. This community service program (PKM) aims to empower teachers at SD Negeri Segoropuro, Pasuruan, by enhancing their competencies in utilizing digital media for teaching. The program was conducted from September to December 2025 through several stages, including needs assessment, practical training, mentoring, and evaluation. The training materials covered the use of Canva, Kinemaster, and Prezi. The results indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding, skills, and confidence in integrating technology into the teaching and learning process. Practically, this program offers a needs-based training model that is applicable and easily replicable in other schools. The sustainability of the program is supported by the provision of modules, video tutorials, and continuous mentoring that encourage teachers’ independent learning. Overall, this program contributes to supporting a more adaptive and sustainable digital transformation in education.  Keywords: Digital learning media, Teacher empowerment, Digital transformation, Training, social media in education.
