Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi kurangnya wawasan guru dalam pengembangan strategi memahami gaya belajar peserta didik. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi guru kelas IV dalam memahami gaya belajar visual peserta didik di SDN 21 Parak Kopi Kota Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Kemudian data dikumpulakan melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi, selanjutnya dilakukan analisis data melalui tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarik kesimpulan. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu guru kelas IV dan Peserta didik. Penelitian ini dilaksankan di SDN 21 Parak Kopi Kota Padang pada bulan Mei-Juni 2023. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh temuan bahwa strategi guru kelas IV dalam memahami gaya belajar visual peserta didik di SDN 21 Parak Kopi Kota Padang yaitu dengan cara yang paling tepat untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar bagi peserta didik yang mempunyai gaya belajar visual dengan alat bantu visual seperti grafik dan gambar. Hal ini dianalisis dalam pemilihan metode dan media pembelajaran yang mengaktifkan penglihatan (mata).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi pendekatan Practical Life Skills dalam mengakselerasi perkembangan fisik-motorik halus anak kelompok A (usia 4-5 tahun), khususnya pada aspek koordinasi mata dan tangan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi partisipasi (participant observation), di mana peneliti terlibat sebagai partisipan moderat di PAUD Sungai Beringin Tembilahan. Instrumen kegiatan utama yang diterapkan adalah latihan menjahit menggunakan alat berbahan plastik yang aman bagi anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa stimulasi melalui kegiatan menjahit dengan alat plastik secara nyata meningkatkan koordinasi mata dan tangan anak. Temuan di lapangan membuktikan bahwa latihan ini memperkuat akurasi, konsentrasi, dan ketangkasan motorik halus anak yang sebelumnya mengalami kendala. Selain itu, kegiatan ini terbukti mempercepat kematangan motorik halus anak usia 4-5 tahun serta melatih kemampuan kognitif dalam pemecahan masalah (problem solving) saat memasukkan benang ke jarum. Implikasinya, metode ini efektif diterapkan untuk mempersiapkan kemandirian dan kesiapan menulis anak.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of gamified vocabulary learning using Kahoot and Quizizz on EFL university students’ engagement and vocabulary retention. Grounded in Self-Determination Theory and cognitive learning theories, the study employed a quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test non-equivalent group design involving 293 non-English-major students enrolled in general English courses at an Indonesian public university. The experimental group received vocabulary instruction through Kahoot and Quizizz, while the control group was taught using conventional vocabulary exercises. Data were collected through vocabulary tests administered at three stages (pre-test, post-test, and delayed post-test), an engagement questionnaire measuring behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement, classroom observations, and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were analysed using t-tests, one-way ANOVA, repeated-measures ANOVA, and Pearson correlation, while qualitative data were thematically analysed to support interpretation. The findings revealed that students exposed to gamified instruction achieved significantly higher vocabulary gains and demonstrated stronger long-term retention than those in the control group. The experimental group also reported significantly higher levels of engagement across all dimensions. A strong positive correlation was found between engagement and vocabulary retention, indicating that engagement played a mediating role in learning outcomes. The study concludes that pedagogically designed gamified vocabulary learning enhances both engagement and sustainable vocabulary retention in EFL higher education contexts.

Abstract

English communication has become an essential competence for nursing professionals in globalized healthcare systems. However, Indonesian nursing students often receive limited opportunities to practice authentic and confidence-building English speaking in medically contextualized situations. This research investigates the use of role-play in the English for specific purposes (ESP), English for Healthcare Communication course, responding to the limited opportunities for authentic and confidence-building speaking practice faced by Indonesian nursing students. The study sample of 44 students enrolled in a Diploma III Nursing Program at Akademi Keperawatan YPTK Solok employed a mixed-methods design with an explanatory sequential approach, emphasizing medically contextualized role-play activities. Quantitative data were pre- and post-intervention speaking tests, while qualitative information was obtained from questionnaires and interviews. Results indicated significant improvement in students' speaking performance, particularly in fluency, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and comprehension. In addition, students reported higher confidence during medical communication performance. Interview data indicated that role-play enhanced students’ comfort with spontaneous English in nursing simulations, although the challenges of limited medical vocabulary and performance anxiety remained evident. The study found that role-play is an effective pedagogical approach in ESP contexts within an English for Nursing Program. In practice, role-play may be more effective when enhanced by digital simulations, increased scenario complexity, and reflective evaluation, whereas pre-designed role-play incorporating focused language instruction may further strengthen healthcare communication training.
