Abstract

The maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia remains relatively high, with postpartum infection being one of the leading causes. The postpartum period is a critical phase during which physiological changes occur, increasing the risk of infection. However, the lack of adequate maternal health monitoring remains a challenge in the early detection of complications. This study aims to implement health technology-based monitoring using wearable sensors (HRV sensor/smartwatch) and axillary thermometers to detect changes in maternal body temperature and heart rate variability during the postpartum period. A total of 20 postpartum mothers, aged 2-14 days, from Pagesangan Subdistrict, were monitored for seven days. The results showed that the majority of participants (90%) were in good health; however, two participants (10%) experienced an increase in body temperature above 38°C and unstable HRV, which are early indicators of postpartum infection. These participants were immediately provided with additional health education and referred to healthcare professionals for further examination. Meanwhile, the remaining participants continued to receive routine monitoring and education regarding postpartum infection prevention. The implementation of this community service program demonstrated that health technology-based monitoring is effective in detecting real-time health condition changes, allowing for faster medical interventions and increasing maternal awareness of postpartum health. The findings suggest that this method can serve as an innovative approach to reducing postpartum infection risks and improving maternal health quality. Further development and wider application of this approach in other regions are recommended to enhance postpartum care and maternal well-being.

Abstract

Anemia is a prevalent nutritional problem among adolescent girls, impacting their health and academic performance. One effective and affordable alternative intervention is the use of local iron-rich foods, such as mung bean sprouts (Phaseolus aureus). This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of consuming mung bean sprout salad in increasing hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls with mild anemia. The study population consisted of 150 female students at SMK Unitomo Surabaya. A sample of 30 individuals was selected using purposive sampling. The research design was pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Respondents received an intervention of 200 grams of mung bean sprout salad per day for 14 days. Hemoglobin levels were measured before and after the intervention using the cyanmethemoglobin method. The results of the paired sample T-test showed a significant increase in hemoglobin levels after the intervention (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that consuming mung bean sprout (Phaseolus aureus) salad is effective in increasing hemoglobin levels and can serve as an alternative intervention to reduce the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Susu Kedelai, Pre-menopause, Masa tulang ABSTRACT  Pre-menopause is a transition period for women before entering menopause (the elderly). Elderly coaching is part of family coaching. Family health development is aimed at efforts to foster attitudes and behaviors that will foster the ability of the family itself to overcome health problems with the support and guidance of professionals, towards the realization of a healthy family life. Family health is also held to realize a small, happy and prosperous healthy family.According to data from the world health organization (WHO) in 2025 the number of women in old age is estimated to jump from 107 million to 373 million, and 18-36% of women in the world experience a decrease in bone mass density, a decrease in bone density occurs because bone experiences cell turnover in where the number of destroyed bone cells is higher than the newly formed bone cells. The impact of this decrease in bone mass will cause bones to become brittle and will increase the risk of fracture.Soy milk is an alternative choice to increase bone mass, because soy milk contains isoflavone (phitoestrogen) compounds has a chemical structure and way of working similar to the hormone estrogen, so that isoflavones can stimulate osteoblastic activity (bone cell formation) through estrogen hormone receptors. so that it can produce growth hormone or HGH hormone (human growth hormone) and help bone mass density. The research site was carried out in Karangkembang Village, Rt 03 Rw 07, Babat Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency, which will be followed by home visits which are given treatment for 10 days with a frequency of 2 times a day. The study used a pre-experimental approach with pre and post test without control. The research design carried out in this study was measurement with a densitometer.Giving soy milk is given at a predetermined dose 2 times a day for 10 days. The expectation of researchers is that this study can improve the standard of living of pre-menopausal women to be more productive so that their life expectancy will be better.

Abstract

Introduction: Low birth weight (LBW) is a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality in developing countries. This study analyzed the relationship between maternal reproductive health indicators and LBW incidence at the Pasean Health Center, Pamekasan.Method: A prospective cohort study was conducted on 72 third-trimester pregnant women followed until delivery. Data on maternal age, interpregnancy interval, nutritional status, and antenatal care (ANC) visits were obtained through interviews and anthropometric measurements. Infant birth weight was measured within 24 hours postpartum. Logistic regression analysis was used with a 5% significance level. Results: The prevalence of LBW was 15.3%. Maternal age 20 years significantly increased the risk of LBW (AOR=2.45; 95% CI: 1.18–5.07; P=0.016), while short interpregnancy interval (24 months) also showed a significant effect (AOR=1.87; 95% CI: 1.02–3.45; P=0.042). Poor maternal nutritional status emerged as the strongest predictor (AOR=3.12; 95% CI: 1.58–6.15; P=0.001).Conclusion: These results highlight the importance of improving maternal nutrition, ensuring adequate birth spacing, and delaying early pregnancies. Strengthening primary health care interventions focusing on preconception and antenatal nutrition is essential to reduce LBW and improve neonatal health outcomes. Keywords: Antenatal care, low birth weight, maternal nutrition, pregnancy interval, reproductive health

Abstract

Emergency and post-disaster conditions often disrupt essential midwifery services, directly affecting the safety of mothers and newborns. Limited access to health facilities, shortages of healthcare personnel, and weak referral systems are major barriers to maternal and neonatal care in disaster-prone areas. This Community Service Program was conducted in Nogosari Village, Pacet District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java, to strengthen the preparedness of midwifery services. The methods included cross-sector coordination, community education, capacity building for supporting personnel, mentoring of health cadres, and simulation of essential midwifery service pathways in crisis situations. The activities focused on the provision of basic midwifery services, continuity of care for pregnant women, childbirth, postpartum mothers, and newborns, as well as strengthening the referral system. The results showed increased knowledge, skills, and preparedness among community members, cadres, and volunteers in maintaining essential midwifery services during emergencies. In addition, a shared understanding was developed regarding the importance of continuity of midwifery care as a form of protection for vulnerable groups. This program strengthened the resilience of community-based midwifery service systems and supported efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality risks in disaster situations. Furthermore, the activity encouraged sustainable collaboration among healthcare workers, village authorities, and the community to maintain adaptive and responsive midwifery services in the future.

Abstract

Purpose: Syphilis remains a global public health concern, particularly in developing countries. This study aims to determine the seroprevalence of syphilis and assess its association with sociodemographic factors among female blood donors of reproductive age in Surabaya, Indonesia. Methods: This cross-sectional study analysed secondary data from 186 female blood donors aged 15–49 years at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Surabaya. Syphilis status was categorized as reactive or non-reactive based on screening results. Sociodemographic variables included age, marital status, education, and occupation. Descriptive and chi-square bivariate analyses were conducted using JASP 0.95.4, with significance set at p < 0.05. Results: The seroprevalence of syphilis among female donors was 25.3%. Significant associations were found between syphilis status and marital status (p = 0.000), age category (p = 0.001), and education level (p = 0.013). Unmarried women, adolescents aged 15–24, and those with lower levels of education had the highest proportions of reactive results. While occupation was not statistically significant (p = 0.228), students and housewives showed the highest infection rates. Conclusion: The high seroprevalence of syphilis among female reproductive-age donors in Surabaya is significantly associated with specific sociodemographic factors. Strengthening STI prevention programs and routine donor screenings is essential to ensure blood safety and improve reproductive health outcomes.
