Abstract

The habit of pedestrians in using the road when crossing the road is in the spotlight because it will cause traffic jams so that they are prone to accidents. No road user wants to experience such an accident, whether it is a minor accident or an accident that is fatal and leads to death. Pelican crossings are made to minimize pedestrian accidents, but this facility does not guarantee that accidents will not occur. Problems arise when pressing the crossing button will create congestion and noise due to the notification sound of the crossing. When someone wants to cross it will result in the accumulation of vehicles around because they are waiting for irregular pedestrians to cross. The purpose of this research is to design a pedestrian Puffin Crossing advance simulation that is more adaptive and safe. The research was conducted by making a prototype using a microcontroller and several sensors which will later be used as a medium for interaction between drivers and pedestrians. The results of the prototype research can work well and in accordance with the function of each component. The recommended minimum number of pedestrians is 4 waders, the minimum required waiting time is 5 seconds, while the crossing time is conditioned based on pedestrian sensor readings at the zebra cross.

Abstract

Land transportation is a key pillar in the freight transportation system that is often faced with various operational risk events. This study aims to identify risk agents and develop mitigation strategies for transporting goods through land transportation. The House of Risk (HOR) method identifies risks, determines priority risk agents, and formulates effective mitigation strategies. Based on observations and questionnaire analysis, 14 risk events caused by 21 risk agents were identified, of which 12 agents were categorized as priority and nine as non-priority. Delays in issuing delivery notes or bills of lading (A4) were identified as the risk agent with the highest priority index of 3954.71. Of the 16 risk-handling strategies formulated, periodic inspection and maintenance of vehicles (PA2) has the highest Effectiveness to Difficulty (ETD) value of 63755.2. The results of this study provide a systematic framework for risk management in land transportation to improve the effectiveness and reliability of freight operations.

Abstract

Abstract

Traffic congestion has a significant impact on the efficiency of freight transportation in tourism-intensive areas such as Bali. This study analyzes the impact of congestion on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk corridor by measuring travel delays, vehicle operating costs, and increased costs due to congestion. The mixed methodology combines quantitative analysis based on the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI), Vehicle Operating Cost calculation with PCI, with qualitative interviews with 25 logistics stakeholders over 6 days, in conjunction with traffic surveys. The results show that during peak hours, the volume to capacity (V/C) ratio exceeds 1.02 with freight vehicle speeds dropping below 15 km/h. The regression analysis revealed a strong inverse relationship between traffic volume and vehicle speed, resulting in increasing operating costs. Congestion costs reached IDR 2,699/km for pick-ups and IDR 30,879/km for large trucks, a 60% increase over smooth traffic conditions. Interviews confirmed that delivery delays negatively impact supply chain reliability, particularly affecting the fulfillment of tourism needs. The research quantified the tourism logistics conflict in Bali, revealing that the overlap of peak tourist hours with delivery schedules increased waiting times by 56%. Recommendations include infrastructure improvements, dedicated freight lanes, implementation of smart traffic management, and scheduling of off-peak deliveries. The findings contribute to strategic transportation planning for multifunctional corridors serving both tourism and logistics sectors. Limitations of the study include the focus on national roads only and the short duration of data collection, which may not fully capture seasonal traffic variations. Future research should extend the observation period and include secondary road networks to better understand regional freight transportation dynamics.

Abstract

Refrigerated LPG Terminal is a facility that handles liquefied gas as a raw material, ensuring a reliable supply of LPG for the community. Located in Remen Village, Jenu Subdistrict, Tuban Regency. The intensity of land use changes in an area will correspond to changes in the transportation system in that area. The construction of an LPG terminal will undoubtedly have transportation-related impacts in the area. Therefore, efforts are needed to address these issues by formulating traffic engineering management that is tailored to the actual conditions. The method used involves observational surveys such as Trips Attraction Survey and Origin Survey, which focus on inventorying the roads around the construction area. The impact analysis method of development using MKJI is employed. The analysis of the impact of the development of PT. Pertamina LPG terminal shows that from the existing condition before the development, during the construction phase, and at the early operation stage, it does not significantly affect the capacity of the existing roads in the area. In the forecast period of the next 5 years, there will be an increase in the road capacity value of DJ during the morning peak from 0.248 to 0.334. Regarding the level of service (LOS), it remains at level B for the existing period, construction phase, and early operational stage. By analyzing using forecasting methods, alternatives that can be planned include traffic control systems, understanding the road network system around the area, providing public transportation, installing traffic signs, providing parking facilities, and minimizing roadside parking.
