Problem-solving skills in high school students are still low, there are still many students who have not been able to develop problem-solving so innovative learning models are needed in learning at school. This study aims to describe the implementation of the ESD-integrated PBL model utilizing greenhouse lime to improve students' problem-solving skills. The type of research used in the research is this research using the type of Quasi-Experimental Design research. The participants in this study are students of class X Mipa at one of the high schools in Pamekasan Regency. This study uses 2 classes, namely the control class and the experimental class. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded that the ESD-integrated PBL model learning activities to improve the solving skills of class X students were carried out with an average percentage of 95.55% in the very good category. The application of ESD-integrated PBL model learning can improve students' problem-solving skills. This is characterized by 1) the results obtained from the post-test score are higher than the results of the pre-test with an N-Gain of 0.78 in the high category, while in the control class, the results of the N-Gain obtained are 0.67 with the medium category 2) the results of the post-test of the two classes in the independent test are 0.162 which means that the significant value is greater than 0.05, then H1 is accepted. Thus, there was a significant difference in the mean post-test scores of the experimental class and the post-test of the control class. Students' responses to the application of ESD-integrated PBL model learning to improve students' problem-solving skills based on the analysis of the response questionnaire obtained a positive response in the experimental class with an average percentage above 70%, which means that the points on the student response questionnaire were in a good category.

Abstract

The low level of scientific literacy skills is attributed to the lack of application of scientific literacy principles, the inability to interpret tables and graphs, and students' limited understanding of basic scientific concepts related to the SDGs'13. This research aims to analyze the scientific literacy abilities of 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Surabaya in relation to supporting SDGs'13 on the Global Warming Phenomenon. The research method used is descriptive and mixed method approach. The research design involves an explanatory sequential design. The research findings indicate that the average score of 10th grade students at SMAN 1 Surabaya is 65.2, which falls within the satisfactory category. Factors contributing to the suboptimal scientific literacy abilities include the inadequate application of scientific literacy competencies in teaching, teacher’s not to familiarize students with scientific analysis of phenomena, and the continued use of conventional teaching methods. There is a lack of experimental activities that encourage students to engage with scientific data and produce experimental reports. Therefore, there is a need for innovative learning methods and tools, such as integrating the topic of global warming with the SDGs'13 climate action concept and implementing a problem based learning model. These approaches aim to foster critical thinking and environmental awareness among students, enabling them to address global issues and contribute to environmental preservation in the face of climate change. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that knowledge about preventing climate change can be applied by students in their daily lives in the long term.

Abstract

Indonesia has characteristics of increasing temperatures that have yet to be widely known. Sudden temperature changes have brought many losses to Indonesians. The study was intended to analyze the level of scientific literacy on the climate-change material for prospective physics teachers in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative methodology. The study also utilized descriptive analysis techniques by administering surveys to gather participant data. This study uses descriptive analysis techniques through the administration of surveys to collect data from participants. Increased emissions of greenhouse gases are a contributing factor to changes in temperature and climate. The escalation of greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia leads to climate change as these gases envelop the Earth and trap the sun's heat, intensifying the greenhouse effect. The outcome entails elevated mean temperatures, alterations in precipitation patterns, and occurrences of severe weather events such as floods and droughts. Evaluating climate or temperature changes necessitates education. Education imparts knowledge about the significance of safeguarding the planet to maintain its well-being. Education plays a crucial role in addressing the challenge of climate change, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
